Sometimes i think NeoGeo Battle Coliseum was the game Capcom Fighting Evolution attempted to be.
Yeah, Battle Coliseum had a solid set of mechanics, unique character choices that actually have sprites and context to help em fit within the game AND the presentation still works to its favor
@@angelriverasantana7755
And it didn’t just stick to fighting games, but went above and beyond to have a true reason to exist separately from KoF; we had stuff like Metal Slug tossed in too.
Man, they really need to capitalize off of SF6's success and make a proper in-house crossover fighter.
If only....
Street Fighter VS King Of Fighters
Or The King Of Street Fighter
Yep. Another Capcom VS SNK game is very long overdue.
I actually believe SF6's success might help convincing the higher ups to allow a 2nd fg to walk along. Because they must still be concerned about the failure of MVCI (even if its understandable) and not much open to invest in a different fg.
But it looks like any crossover with other franchises is threatened by the fact that all companies are too busy right now and their games arent going down. Its very different from the time of the making of CvS: SF died with Third Strike, other Capcom fg franchises were dead or about to end (like MvC), so there was little work left for the fg devs. And SNK as a whole was about to close, even cancelled Garou MOTW 2, so there was also had little work left for the devs. So if we look the current state of the scene... SNK, Namco's fg devs and Arc Systems are all super busy.
So to me that makes a Capcom crossover the easiest and most viable idea for a new crossover game to walk along with SF in the current age. And Capcom actually has a long history of successful games, even if some are forgotten, that is more than enough to make a big fg roster. If the range of choices is more limited it can still be a big fg roster... and if the range of choice is broader (like open to Megaman, Onimusha, Breath of Fire, Power Stone, etc) the roster can get to the mark of "50" if the devs can afford to do so.
PS: I 100% dont believe Darkstalkers or Rival Schools have big chances of being chosen to be that "2nd fg". It would be a crossover, because these games are usually popular with their nostalgia fanservice. Like MvC revived the image of Strider, or CvS the image of Maki, or TvC the image of Batsu, etc.
This was the only time a mugen like game was officially released
Yeah...although mugen charecters tend to be of higher quality and with much bigger rosters usually lol
Never thought I would see Akuma parrying a dinosaur
Akuma will literally do anything at this point, including parrying a dinosaur.
1:14
Akuma just really misses _Dino Crisis_ apparently. (I think Hauzer is technically supposed to be a dragon, which arguably makes it funnier.)
Evidently he couldn't get enough, considering he's been hanging out in Monster Hunter...
He was whoopin.mutant ass back in '95
I tried my absolute hardest to like this game
We all did
It’s one ugly ass game. And not that fun.
You're da man!
So honest… it hurts
Darkstalkers is ugly? Do you have eyes?! @@justingoers
Something about this game that nobody mentions is that the SFIII characters having a standarized 2-bar meter and access to more than one Super Art opens up interesting posibilities that are rarely explored. The Urien combo at 5:16, for example, is impossible to do in the game he comes from. Or doing Alex's Stun Gun Headbutt into Hyper Bomb.
The SF2 characters are also substantially different from their source games.
It would be more accurate to call them CvS characters rather than SFII characters.
2:05 Let's go, Alex
6:13 has me in tears. Poor Karin.
this game is janky af if you can get a super off of a neutral grab midscreen
Karin "choke me harder, loin cloth daddy"
That looked like a Breakers Revenge combo and I'm all for it.
When fighting all-stars had a jam on the toilet
Capcoms attempt to make a Mugen game. Leave it to desk to make the game entertaining for a few minutes.
Man...the parry timing on some of those has gotta be SO tight.
Thank you for using the BEST song from this game.
The muscles in your hands must be huge
I liked this game for having dope sfx at least and a fun concept but the roster should have literally been 2x as big considering it was all inhouse conversions to the cvs2 naomi engine.
whoa... what game is this??
@@battosaijenkins946Capcom Fighting Jam.
@@battosaijenkins946 Capcom Fighting Evolution
The other half was gonna be for SNK characters, no, that is not a joke
Never thought I’d see the day you do a video on Fighting Evolution.
I'm probably one of the only person who ever enjoyed playing this game. It's just that when no one else wants to play with you it gets hard to keep playing it by yourself
Shiiid play by yourself? That’s all I do but not this game tho lol.
That's probably true. Because the older games that were good for both single player or multiplayer, and that people love and still played, never stopped to exist or be available for the systems of the time like the ps2.
I like this game as well. People are just quick to hate on anything.
@@afropowa1598You serious? This game has a million very valid reasons to dislike it lmao
@@afropowa1598That's true, the game wasn't catered to the casuals 🤦🏻♂️ it's for people who understand frametraps from KOF2001 and Alpha 3, as in, party mechanics; yes, but ones that require precise command studying. You can't do much with the custom combo in general from Alpha even through playing A2 itself unless you know what to do. I will say though, it could've at least had Ken for the casual players to enjoy it. Especially since Shin Akuma here is actually very forgiving compared to Alpha 2 and perhaps maybe CvS2, it's just the super move that makes him extra powerful in CFE. You can tell they really wanted to keep a playerbase and there was no other choice but making this game. The reason why is because a lot of people thought Code Holder is Capcom's Tekken/DOA/VF but unfortunately not many people know of the 2D and 3D hybrid games, being on the 3D plane but utilizing 2D inputs like Bloody Roar, Project Justice, and Battle Arena Toshinden ( and more).
Good things about Capcom Fighting Evolution:
Ingrid, the cool soundtrack and Hauzer.
I can't hate a game that lets you play as a big dinosaur 😊
I was HOPING to see more videos of Capcom Fighting Jam! There's something strangely compelling about this game and I'm glad to watch this!
They really need to make a modern version of this game
That would be kinda cool.
Dang straight!
Capcom TRUE Evolution
The video description alone is a masterpiece.
Chun-Li was like "not in this game, son!" at 0:55 with dat authority level slap! 😂
"*Blocks* That SHIT outta here!"
This game, for its defense, had some cool and unusual character picks, especially for the time. Some of them, like Alex, Urien and Jedah, would find a new lease on life later. Others, like Leo, Kenji and Pyron, haven't sadly been seen since and unlikely to be with how Capcom is currently.
For at least two, it is the only time they have ever been playable
I just watched it because it's a Desk's video. Still amazed even with this game. Thanks you.
One Thing about this game is the combo videos there are really insane !!!🔥🔥
I had always called this game an “intern project that was accidentally released,” but every time I see this game running, it’s like looking into an alternate timeline. The mechanics are solid enough to be passable as a Capcom product, and if you were playing this hot off the heels of CvS2, the backgrounds weren’t THAT weird. I’m sure that if I play this game again, I’ll probably play it for an hour, then grow it back into the shadow realm.
The street fighter alpha characters were so underpowered in this game
Fun Fact: Capcom Fighting Evolution was supposed to be “Capcom Fighting All-Stars” as you all know, but did you know THAT GAME was planned to be truly revealed to be “CAPCOM VS. SNK 3”…Yeah, I’m as shocked as you are that we just lost EVERYTHING!
The best thing this game had were the stages. Many familiar faces and locations
Official Mugen from capcom.
A freakin' CFE video?
We've reached peak madman
A new desk video
Happy New Year to Me!
Happy New Year!
The way the Darkstalkers animations interact with the parry make it stand out even more that they are not from the same game. 😄
Yo another banger from Desk-sama :D
This video is super helpful. Im gonna use some of these combos on Xbox Live this weekend. Gonna win those online CFJ matches
Pressing forward on point sir
This game needed twice the characters and some major rebalancing, and it could have been a GOAT
After watching this video, I learned the fact that Shin Akuma, despite to be representative of SF2, can do Parry.
2:04 LET'S GO JUSTIN!!
YEEEEAAAAAHHHHH
I've been a fan of this game for many years. Dont care what anyone says about it. Great to see someone show it some luv
They really need to give a capcom crossover game another chance. A lot of these characters and IPs could use a revival.
Fully agree
This game is awesome! Also good stuff in picking the best stage music from this game.....that NY stage sure do look like Harlem for real.
That New York theme was the coolest
i wish this game had a groove system
Yun @1:39 really do be just slapping Gief's butt every half rotation :3
Holy shit it's the one CFE player
The track for this samples the same lyrics used for Put Your Faith In Me in DDR 2ndMix. That's cool.
ah yes the ingrid game
Free my girl. She was in this dookie game and last good game she was in is SFA3 Max.
@@shinmasterryu For that matter, give us Maki and Eagle in more games.
i kind of like her ngl, feels like Athena from kof but made by Capcom. story to her is dumb and silly still but idc
@@_Jay_Maker_ Yeah, it sucks that Eagle end up not getting much respect from the devs. Gen and Birdie also are from SF1 just like him, but the fact of returning to the game in SFA revitalized both chars' image and their reputation to the point that they appeared in the "modern era" of SF... Gen in 4 and Birdie in 5. Meanwhile Eagle is still forgotten and was only remembered for CvS2. If he appeared in SFA (not the late A3 ports) his fate would have been different. To me its very strange how these decisions happen, because in my opinion Eagle is a totally worthy char for SF.
@@mikaela5938 She looks too much like Athena's looks from KoF 97, that is a very famous version, so i would like her to be redesigned if she was to return. To avoid comparisons of a negative tone. But overall i have nothing against her.
Styling from the start!
I don't see the Final Atomic Buster parry. All single super you say?
This game is such a clusterfck, some of the design decisions are so baffling that I would love to know the behind the scenes stories behind them all.
Honestly? Wish they would have had the balls to actually use the SF2 sprites and just go all-in on the evolution theme.
This was godlike ❤
I like this game all things considered. Fun casual game that i still boot up my ps3 to play often.
1:31 you have no escape, NO HOPE! (Floor punch)
5:49-5:54 My favorite part in this video 😂
Ingrid should return.
I like how the characters representing Street Fighter 2 don't have EX moves, Parry, Custom Combos, instead they hit like a truck, as a reference of how matches were in early 90s fighting games, those were quick because the damage was higher back then.
This game had so much potential but the biggest thing that single handedly ruined it, imo, was not being able to select your style (a la groove select in CvS2). Had they implemented being able to choose your style, rather than having each locked behind a small group of fighters, this could've been among the greats worthy of a sequel.
It was ruined by more than just one thing
I don't think people realize how SERIOUS that New York stage song is. In fact its so serious, the dude parried the first few parries in the video with the beat LOL!!!
I unironically love CFJ
This was just a licensed mugen
YOOO THE YUN JUGGLE IS CRAZYY. and im first to a desk vid nice only u could make cfj interesting 😭😭😂
This game is the reason we still don’t have a modern Capcom all stars VS game of with Dante, Monster Hunter, Megaman, etc
Soundtrack by Grandmaster Flash
Parry abre uma janela interessantes quem se recuperar até o rival pode te arremesar quebrando a sequência depende da distância e dos franes de recuperação de cada akuma também parece ter bons quadros de recuperação
Hauzer my favourite darkstalker
Didn't know Masterbits Climax Rapsody made it into CFE as well.
My standards was so low that I enjoyed this game
honestly, i think we all lowkey liked that usa track.
Hey, do 3rd strike characters still get their taunt buffs?
i always forget this exists.. looks like a fangame lol
When only 5 of these clips are actually vs. Darkstalkers characters but the title says ''Parrying the Darkstalkers''!
Still cool though!
6:25 if he parries AFTER THAT...!
He didn't but STILL...
That 7:08 damage was disgusting
Nobody can beat the parry
Probably the most expensive Mugen game of the 00s. And it has a very small roster.
This is the first released capcom game made by a team of SNK refugees after it shut down for the first time
Podia fazer dos darkstalkers ou o q falta pro próximo vídeo dessa jogo
I think Capcom need to re release this game
I dont know why everyone shitting on this game, its like a higher quality version of somebody's MUGEN, but I'll never know until I actually play it, I'll follow up when I actually play this...
Too expensive Mugen game
Don't forget it
when was akuma in capcom evolution?
How jank is that T-Rex in terms of balance?
Imagine a new Capcom vs Capcom game that's actually good(!) & has characters from Power Stone, Rival Schools/Project Justice, & Final Fight 1-3 in the roster.
Backgrounds are cool though
Weird How This Is, To My Knowledge, The First And Only Game To Have Shin Akuma But Not Base Akuma.
You'd think this was a MUGEN game but its not....
Maybe the most expensive Mugen game, or at least from the 00s.
Severely underrated game! I love this game and it helped me stay sharp in third strike until Third Strike eventually had a re-release on ps2.
This game came out nearly 3 months AFTER 3S re-release on PS2 ala Anniversary Collection 😂
O yun parece ter maiores ou melhores janelas de recuperação nesse jogo
The potential in this game... ah... but Capcom doesn't like making good decisions.
Capcom just gave up fgs... and to be totally fair it was kinda understandable at that specific time. New 2d sprites couldnt be allowed to be made, which is sad but still reasonable. And on the other hand the fg devs were incompetent in 3d tech... they were masters of 2d but below average at 3d tech, and proved that they were struggling to improve to meet Capcom's desired standards. Like Rival Schools 2/Project Justice might have its good points, but its an amateur title if we consider the whole 3d fg scene in the late 90s and very early 00s: like SC1, TTT1, DOA2, etc. And the original Capcom crossover, that was going to be 3d, also didnt meet good standards and was cancelled... and the base project of CvS3, that was going to be 3d and probably planned for the mid 00s, also had to be cancelled. The fact is that the 3d abilities of the fg devs in the early 00s were so much below the devs of Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Onimusha, etc. Also outside Capcom, Arika (responsible for the SF EX games) messed up with SF EX3 and probably wasnt considered worthy for taking more 3d fg projects for Capcom.
Can you do the same with Hyper SFA3 on PS2 next?
What is that music ?!!! Its soo good
It's NY stage music from this very game. Soundtrack for this game was actually pretty solid overall.
Kuuu Soooo Geeeee
💪🏾💪🏾
0:50 - Revenge for Justin eh? haha
thank you for letting chun li kick some butt.
also amused at every fireball parry ending in a throw.
this game definitely looks more distinctly “mugen-like” relative to other Capcom crossovers or the era. The sprites just don’t mesh together very well, even if they’re both from the same game.
It’s a legendary kusoge-, but as a SF3 fan, not that bad for me.
This version compared to Snk 2 just looks and feels like a really Bad Mugen project 😂
Hydron wasn't a darkstalker...he's from red earth but still good stuff
This reminded me that the stages are a total insult to the artistic legacy of stage design of Capcom's 90s fgs. The level of effort put in stages of Darkstalkers, early Marvel, SFA, SF3, Jojo, etc. A tragic closure to Capcom's 2d fgs.
Sad part is the backgrounds as concepts aren’t bad just the horrible art direction. If they were true 240p sprite designs they’d shined.
i wish this game was better. i wish we could've gotten a good Capcom allstars game with like mega man and Phoenix Wright and all kinds of other fun characters like that instead of an unpolished mugen with only reused sprites and Ingrid
Capcom had already given up fgs and was only making these kind of things to rip off their starving orphan fg fans. Just like HSF2 too.
still wild how most of the stages look like some lame fan edits taken off an obscure angelfire site lol.
