Shoot buddy that's beautiful I have a 72 and just ordered a 383 stroker 515 hp for the old girl and those haters are just jealous bud beautiful ride !!
I love how she says "oh my goodness just back up". doesn't realize that those cars needed to be warmed up a bit before they would idle right and not die
That's a mans car, no ac, looks like no power steering and engine bay looks cleaner than a nun on a Saturday night... drive it like you stole it...*built
Last week there was a dragster for sale on Racingjunk.com with a procharged 383 that ran in the mid 7.50's. Do the math on the online 1/4 mile calculator. Thats over 1000 hp.
thanks for the comments even u haters and doubters all i know its a fun ass ride and ive got the wall of trophys to back it stay tuned on my youtube channel 383novacaine cause i still have a bottle with a 125 shot under the garage bench then maybe ill make 400 hp wink wink
Here is a short Chevy SB History lesson for those doubters and haters. It's not that hard to make a lot of horsepower from a Small Block Chevy. These are factory ratings, not mine; and they were usually under-rated numbers. With a longer stroke like the 383, better flowing heads and intake, then the right cam/lifter set-up and you have a Monster! The Small-Block's Timeline '55: The small-block V-8 is introduced in '55 Chevrolets as a 265. This is the beginning of the Gen I.'57: 1/8-inch bore increase raises displacement to 283ci; the Ramjet mechanical fuel-injection system was introduced, bringing horsepower to 283--1 hp/ci.'62: Displacement increases to 327ci with a 4-inch bore and a 3.25-inch stroke. Ramjet fuel-injected versions are rated at 360hp'64: Cylinder head improvements (2.02-inch intake valves) bump the 327's highest horsepower rating to 375 with fuel injection.'67: A little-known option called Z28 is released for the Camaro only, which includes a high-revving 302ci small-block for competition in SCCA Trans Am road racing. A 350ci (5.7L) version (in the Camaro) debuts and will become the quintessential small-block variant.'68: A Camaro Z28 wins the Trans Am championship.'70: 350ci LT1 debuts in the Z28 Camaro and Corvette and is rated at 360/370hp respectively; 400ci small-block is offered--the largest-displacement small-block built to date.
That is a beauty. My guys on tbe process of putting a 383 stroker into his 74 Chevy Nova. It's been a process with wiring issues. He's not getting much help with diagrams. The motors in he's just trying to fire her up. It ran great with the 350 but he wanted MORE POWER! Great car you have. His looks very similiar the black like that. It sounds like Christine. Enjoy!
that's a beautiful sounding and looking car. obviously built and clean. for those that judge by the cover, there is way more under all that, cam, rockers, pistons, fuel delivery, exhaust.
I have an 83 cutlass sounds like ur Nova waiting on my rear end to get done ,but until I get my car back I love to listen to ur Nova the baddest Nova a round peace
awesome. I have a 92' caprice wagon that I want to put the 383 stroker into. It has the 305 and yeah. Good enough excuse to put a better heart into it. Glad you got one with a decently high amount of HP.
I love novas to all hell 5 years ago me and my dad built a 62 convertible, we put independent rear suspension, ford 9 inch with Holden vl commodore brakes, Chevy 350 small block and rack/pinion steering I’m not a big fan of the seats but thank god there is no blacked out chrome on your nova
Weak ass comments on here, just reinforced the new American way, so ready to doubt or put down someone else's stuff in the belief it'll make the commentators look better or smarter. The car is nice, and you cant tell tell the hp, without knowing the specific internals and the exhaust used. Even worse the internet bums challenging him to race and selling their crappy resume. Enjoy a man making a nice car. Congratulate for a change, be a human, not a hater.
That car sounds badass! I have a 383 stroker 465 horsepower in my 65 Chevy Biscayne. It's a beast. I love the way she's breathing what RPMs does it idle at? What's the compression ratio on that? Thinking something like that may need to use high test gas
I don’t know what his engine specs are but mine is a 383 4 bolt main (0.040 over 3.750 Stroke) with a forged crankshaft. I have a duel plane airgap intake with a Holley EFI system on top. 64cc aluminum heads with 2.02/1.60 valves (195cc intake/75cc exhaust runners). The cam is a comp roller cam .536/.555 lift 224/236 duration at 113 LSA (kinda wish it was 110LSA). The engine is 8.5:1 compression and makes 448HP / 446 ft lbs. I chose to build the motor with a lower compression because I wanted to put a supercharger on it eventually but now I have changed my mind. If I had 9 or 10:1 compression and better heads I wonder if I could top 500hp. I may change the pistons someday to bring my compression up, but I am happy with how the engine is running and I don’t know if I want to mess with it. I have seen huge HP gain in engines with top quality heads, but the bottom line is I don’t race my vehicle and I don’t need 500hp at 7000rpm. I would rather have more torque below 5000rpm. My build was engine dyno tested with a 750CFM Holley carb, but I assume the Holley EFI is about the same. I have not run the truck on a chassis dyno so I have no idea what the rwhp is. I am sure a loss of 20% via the drive train is to be expected.
This nova sounds so good I can't stop replaying
Shoot buddy that's beautiful I have a 72 and just ordered a 383 stroker 515 hp for the old girl and those haters are just jealous bud beautiful ride !!
I love how she says "oh my goodness just back up". doesn't realize that those cars needed to be warmed up a bit before they would idle right and not die
So true... my big block Chevy won't run worth a damn if you don't warm it up
These kids these days known nothing about carburetors 😂
I have watched this video over and over for years now. At least a hundred times. Still the best sounding 70 nova 383 I’ve heard to date 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Thank you to bad this motor is gone now I have a 417 stroker 600 hp it's nasty
The people that are saying its not 500hp are not familiar with 383s and should not be posting ignorant comments.
Agreed. All these 'experts' on here saying it's not 500hp just by the sound! Da fuck?
Man I love my 383
+Ddm Nn , If you like a 383 as I do then you should try a 396 small block. Just like a 383 except with more torque. FUN FUN FUN !!
Foreal, Definitely seen 383s over 530
Donaldchimp Trumpanzee I agree I had a 420 hp 383 and loved every minute of it, but whats fun is a small block 454 if you can afford to build it 😁
agree. That 383 is a small block that doesn't know it's not a big block.
How can anyone hate this car..
Urban Warhead (Urban Exploration) ricers my friend
Ford people
Only Haters Can
Probably all the punks who drive Honda's with fart mufflers on them
I only hate that I didn't see it in action.
That's a mans car, no ac, looks like no power steering and engine bay looks cleaner than a nun on a Saturday night... drive it like you stole it...*built
I like going fast and having ac
Haha bro this comment is golden . I runnin no ac and my engine bay is now cleaner than my whole car
Great comment thanks 👍
*Retired mans car.
I have a 69 nova with a 454 no ac no abs and no traction control lmao
I have seen 600 hp 383s, the people here saying this is not 530 horse are not familiar with this engines capabilities.
Clorox Bleach with enough compression it could go to 700hp

Nice nova 😎🤘💪👍👌
Nice compression ratio noice pressure sound.
Long live the 383 Strokes. One of the best spec'd motors ever. Strong torque curve from low- mid RPM's and yes 500 plus HP capable. Word!!!
Will nitros hurt the 383
How is it any different to the 400 bore and stroke in performance?
Beautiful just beautiful
Thats a nice engine larry

Its probably just a small exhaust leak. It sounds amazing and a beautiful car
I'm sure the neighbors are thrilled.
The best cars were made in the 60's and 70's . They were great!!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE how people can tell the HP by a fucking RUclips video.

Exactly. If it's only making 200 hp, it's still a very nice car!
A Man’s car. Def a bucketlist car for me.
Love strockers!
My neighbors would love me 😍
💥Nice ✅ 383 Stokers Are Bad Ass💥
this car is my dream since i saw Death Proof

That's duration and overlap not necessarily lift

Very nice!
I'm a huge fan of the 383 stroker motor, I'd take one over an LS in a heartbeat.

Master power brakes out of mooresville, nc makes a very nice disc brake conversion kit. My 73 has it.
Sweet! 😍🌟🔥
