While Plagueis assumed dark side of the force is there to be used for his purposes, Momin simply understood that it is to be served not ruled. While Plagueis is killed by his own student, Momin was the one who killed his own master. Momin is killed by the plot armor of Darth Vader, normally he would slain Darth Vader. till you realize movies need to make money, failure cannot happen because frankly when movies dont make a profit soooooo many people lose their jobs. star wars is a monster now and thus cannot take too many risks in the main movies... just look at the last jedi, they tried something new (kind of they ripped off alot of empire/ROTJ moments) and it didnt work, and instead of admitting they messed up they just attack the fan's and make it worse for themselves. star wars was never complex or super deep, it was always a simple almost brainless story that was timeless. TV, comics and video games are where star wars can truely shine without having to worry too much.

The book does such a good job building the world of Star Wars. It makes it out to be the fantastical world that it is supposed to be. But without the taint from Disney. It gives a wonderful view of the history behind the universe and expands upon pre-existing concepts, while also introducing tales like Darth Gravid. It just shows that James Luceno really knows Star Wars and how to properly world build. My single complaint is that sometimes the characters feel a bit monotonous like its the same character but isn't due to the changes described on the page. Besides that the book is nearly perfect.

"You useless old fool, who forged the most poweful sith lord the world has ever known, yet forgot to leave a place for himself, whos pride refused himself to know that he would not be needed!"
    - Palpatine.
Truly powerful words, speaks volumes of the dark side itself. While the jedi fear or bottle up their emotions, the sith use emotions to better themselves, but they let their emotions become their own master. Pride, Envy, Arrogance, these emotions take an aspiring Dark Side ruler from having the entire galaxy wrapped around his hand, only for it to be taken away from him in one swift move. Simply because his envy for his apprentice inherent power over himself fueled his pride. Making the arrogant mistakes such as, not leaving an heir of some sort, no contingency plan for his death, and purposely limiting his apprentice so he could never overthrow him (despite that being the major principle of The Rule of Two)

    • @lebeaumuni6247

Social Account pretty sure the idea is that he trained his apprentice to be such a badass and planned to rule from the shadow. But Sidious betrayed the rule of two making it for his own. They were at the endgame. Power, War and Victory were coming as Palpatine succeded in his quest for power. And so, the need to mantain the order by an apprentice worthy of succeeding a master was no more. Instead, the sith have won and by him they should rule forever, thus making his apprentices mere puppets, not true Sith Lords

Truly, Sidious did not care at all about the Sith Order, or the Jedi. All he cared about was himself, like Plagueis said, "all living things are nothing more than a tool to elevate you" HE learned the dark side just to accumulate power, and not to end the jedi, or elevate the sith order, he learning the dark side was nothing more than a tool to elevate him to his destined place. All in Sidious life was leading to those moments, Empire, Emperor, Ruler of the Galaxy. Nothing more matters, only Power to him. Honestly, that is a hell of example. First because I’m pretty sure we don’t see Plagueis in the prequels, secondly because whatever *could’ve been* wasn’t, so it’s no use to bring it up.
I mean, hell, it’s a good reason to hate the prequels even more. Half of my hatred for the sequels comes from their wasted potential.

George Lucas is a fantastic storyteller and creator of worlds and characters, but he is not the best director. With A New Hope he had more restrains unto him due to being a newcomer, having lower budget and doing a movie no one believed it would work. So much was due to input of other professionals. Till the last minute he was altering the script (a major thing like Obi-Wan death was added mid filming, and the idea that the Death Star should be targeting the Rebel Base during the climax came up when they were on the editing room, to raise tension and raise the stakes) and search for some interviews with the OG cast about how some of the dialogues were improv (the ones with Mark Hamil are particularly funny) because Lucas had gone full nerd and would have the characters give loads of exposition on things unrelated to the plot and talking like no normal human do. In Episodes V and VI he wasn’t the director, but kept being on set complaining over even the minor of changes, even some we like the most. For instance: Vader fighting with one hand was the decision of the director, but Lucas complained because “they are supposed to fight like samurais” - Which is particularly interesting because it exemplifies perfectly the point; One was more worried about using Vader’s one hand parry of Luke’s attacks as a form of telling how unprepared Luke was in a visual manner and the other was more worried with references and lore. Then when it was the time for the Prequels, Lucas already was the legendary all powerful head of Lucasfilm. etc. He had basically complete control over everything, and no one could tell him what to do. Except Lucas is one creator that do need some input from external sources. He had a main guiding story he need to tell, and I truly love this story, but while telling it he got into weird sidetracks, got distracted by experimenting with new tech, with making annoying ass characters and sequences to appeal to kids and sell toys out of it (look guys, I was there too, Podrace in the N64 was amazing, but in the movie is boring as fuck, I’m sorry) and the tone he went in telling this story wasn’t the tone any fan wanted. Everyone makes fun of some of the bad writing and acting (looking at you “I hate sand”, looking at you “I wish I could wish away my feelings”) but they were that by design, because Lucas saw the whole thing as a 40’s serialized wartime melodrama; In some interviews he even call it “a soap opera”.
I will forever be grateful for this lovely boomer for what he created. He is that one weirdly creative great-uncle that told stories that stuck with you and all your cousins and often sidetracked to things only appealed to him or to his demographic, but it was all heart.
But the truth is, the best Star Wars stories are the ones he didn’t told by himself. Look at Clone Wars! In my headcanon those are what the prequels should have been. How does the animation have characters that feel more alive than the live action one in which most actors seem like they reading the lines instead of acting. Look at what it did with Natalie Portman. Mace Windu is badass because he is Sam Jackson, but he opens his mouth and he sounds so lifeless and robotic I almost forget that this is the guy that gives full energy even in the most stupid roles.
In short, god bless the EU (legends or not) and god bless Dave Filoni. People keep talking about Jon Favreau taking over the creative direction for the future of Star Wars, and I mean no disrespect I loved what he did, but you you all act like Dave isn’t the best suited for it? He not only was there first, but elevated the Saga in ways JJ Abrams could have only dreamed of accomplishing 1% of what he did. Let Jon do his thing, with his fantastic team of creators, but give Dave his due. He is our Revan, he understands the franchise in ways we never could.

Joel Gawne ... We see the hero’s parents burnt corpses in epIV.
We see our hero burned alive near a river of lava, enduring unimaginable pain, whilst our other hero, his masher, friend and brother, a decade long companion, walks away crying after having to take his own apprentice’s life.
We see a frickin genocide on screen, where heroes the likes of which would never be found again before generations die, struck down by their loyal soldiers, that served under their command for years.
We see a millenary republic being overturned and changed into fascistic empire.
... Where... Where exactly did Lucas shy away from mature themes, stories, and pictures ? For god sake, Anakin being burned alive was both physically gore and terrifying, and mentally traumatic considering the mess of pain, anger, and sorrow he is, especially as Obi Wan shouts to him in confusion and despair that he was a brother to him. That shit is dark. You know, if a genocide and the rise of space hitler wasn’t enough.

This is wonderful, my favorite videos you've done so far are the ones that bring together the thoughts and ideologies of fictional characters through their own words and thematic music and scene. This run of statements from Plagueis does indeed show the advantages of the Banite Sith over the post-First Great Schism Jedi, but Plagueis, like the line of Bane and each Sith Order before and the Legions of Lettow, does not see the hypocrisy and arrogance in his own words that they all share... "the full spectrum of emotions" yet calling for turning away from regret and compassion, and making use of an imperial form of egoism... in this, beyond showing that the paths of the compassionate Gray are the best mortal answer for a Force adept, the Sith broke their bonds to forge new ones around themselves of arrogance and hierarchy, preventing them from seeing the power and degrees of righteousness of the irrepressible continuum of individuals banding together as rivals or to seek liberty and equity... and here we see a truth in our history too of oppressors who feared and fear contemplate that the oppressed could be a true threat. Dudu, you humbly traverse the path of heralding the conduit that is fiction as one of many paths between ethics, history and the individual along with the joy of myth and stories. Joseph Campbell would be proud

Plagueis was an essential instrument of the Sith, he achieved what near none other could. His wisdom carried through to Palpatine and that shows in the movies, a small reason towards why I love the prequels.
It’s truly satisfying to see such artwork weave together so delicately and so powerfully. I can already tell you, the more I watch this video, the more I’ll love it. Fantastic work Dudu, the cutoff in the last video is forgiven, you just created a character better than Thrawn with nothing of this character to show but his voice echoing the teachings of the Sith, and demonstrating the power of these teachings.

I like to think plagueis believed sidious would never attempt to kill him until he learned plagueis’ secrets of immortality but obviously he was wrong.

I like to think it was a moment of passion kind of thing. Palpatine wasn't strong enough to kill him then, by the time he has the power to defeat him, Plagueis very well might have become immortal. He just kind of did it because there was no other chance. At least, so I like to think.

0:20 “The Sith do not fear the dark side. The Sith have no fear. They embrace the whole spectrum of experience, from the heights of transcendent joy to the depths of hatred and despair. Beings have these emotions for a reason, Anakin. That is why the Sith are more powerful: they are not afraid to feel.”

Very Dionysian in conception. Dionysus was the Archetype of Life itself. The God of Ecstasy and Madness.

Oh my, I voted against Plaguies as I honestly found the character rather dull... I acknowledge his importance but really, I just... Eh...
Still, you managed to pull it off. The clip with Kreia was by far my favourite, it struck gold. The ending, of course... I had expected the "Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise" to come either in the very beginning or end.
Cheers to you! You've done great.
