Unlike Jamaica, in America we have multiple faces in multiple sports. Gabby is one of faces, so is Sydney, and so is Sha’Carri., not to mention Athing Mu when she rises back up. We also have Simone in Gymnastics, Coco Gauf in Tennis, countless American Football and Basketball faces, etc etc.

Simone is the dominant face in Gymnastics and Tiger Woods was that for Golf. Usain Bolt used to be that dominant face for track and field even in America at one point. He was also appearing on multiple media platforms Ads and had a great American audience. Every sport may have multiple faces but one face stands out and it is obvious that they're trying to make Gabby that stand-out figure.

I wouldnt buy tickets to see Gabby win a race but I would buy a ticket to see ShaCarri lose to the Jamaicans. ShaCarri has more star appeal. She has that undeniable IT factor and you may love her or hate her but she will get your attention either way.
Shaccari just got a new $20 mil contract from Nike so I don't know about that.
She got that contract in March and it’s over a five-year period. Her performance in Paris mattered.

I think Gabby has a great PR team/agent and they are getting her great deals and access to TV shows. ...And you have to admit, Gabby has been playing the long game and playing it well. She ran relays at Worlds in Nassau, and I was saying to myself, why is she doing this bottom of the barrel stuff. But she did it so there would be no doubt as to her running the relay finals in Paris. Also, her focus on the 200m, rather than trying to double, was smart. I think she will be face of track and field. She performed much better than Richardson, and Lyles. And her 200m win in Paris was undeniable. She dusted everyone.
One championship success will not make Gabby the face of track field in America-----no matter how they get her in front of TV, she still has to continue winning for the next few championships to make that claim-------Shacari and Noah already have the "IT FACTOR" on and off the track----Gabby does not have it--------it will take a lot for her to upstage Shacari and Noah in that regard.

Nope. Not even possible. Even if Sha'carri decided to stop running altogether, Gabby wouldnt be able to replace her. Sydney McLaughlin has a better shot. Gabby just doesnt have "it" as they say and Americans would forget about women's track again if she was the main draw. Just being straight up about it. You must remember that track isn't popular in USA so a true star has to bring in non track fans and Sha'carri does that. Gabby doesn't.
Not to be funny but she only won because Shericka dropped out and she stretches her long azz legs to cross the line faster in the end to shorter players. Her time wasnt that great. There really was no competition for her.
To make it worse, she damn near costed ShaCarrie the 4x100 win with that awful 2x pass attempt, and she FELL grabbing the baton in the 4x400 which is why the USA didnt break that WR.
She basically gets lucky. Not a generational talent. In my opinion, she's a liability.

I'm not sure if this is a serious comment, but Shericka was a bigger threat in the 100m this year compared to the 200m, so her dropping out actually benefitted Sha'carri more. Shericka hasn't been able to go under 22 this year and wasn't even a lock to make the finals.
Nobody wins an Olympic medal due to luck let alone 3 golds at 3 different distances. Plus, Gabby was able to step into multiple roles and legs on both relays. She deserves all 3 golds and nobody could replace her in either relay.
Sha'carri is a very rich lady. She will survive not coming out on top this one time!

@@jake100mi5 I do agree, but winning absolutely matters as well. If she didn't win worlds last year, she wouldn't be as big. Her story from being the future when she ran 10.75 as a freshman to not being allowed to run the olympics due to a positive test for marijuana to winning worlds against the Jamaicans from an outside lane. Her winning the olympics would've gotten her on top of the world in track and field. But she has the personality to get people watching. I would def go to a track meet just to see her run.

Gabby wouldn't have gotten the second if it wasn't for ShaCarri. If you remember ShaCarri got the baton from Gabby in fourth place and had to run everybody down to win. Also, Kendall Ellis got screw over so Gabby could get her third medal.

Gabby is not the new face, she is just getting the attention she deserves. Sha’carri and lyles aint going anywhere. Let's be honest....Gabby is the face of track for WHITE and non black Americans because she is America's educated sweetheart with a pretty smile. Alot of black Americans are really rooting for Sha'Carri not only because of her story, but because she is unapologetically black and not bowing down just to appease people tastes. Sha'Carri Richardson is still the face of America Track & Field. You have to remember this is Sha'Carri first time at World's Championship where she won a Gold medal in the 100m, 4x100m relay team, and bronze in the 200m. Gabby got silver in the 200m and gold in 4x100m at her second World Championships. Shacarri got the silver medal in the 100m against real competition, but Gabby got the gold medal in the 200m against no real competition or no real competition who performed at their highest capabilities because the race based on time was slow. Sha'Carri Richardson and Sydney McLaughlin Levrone are the faces of America track and field, and they always have been since Allyson Felix retired. Even when Sha'Carri didn't make it to World Championships and the Olympics in 2020 due to smoking she was still the face of track and field because she is fifth fastest woman in the 100m in the world.
Gabby was at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and won a bronze medal in the 200m against real competition and won a silver medal in the 4x100m relay against real competition but she still wasn't the face of America track and nobody was talking about her even without Sha'Carri being there. The face of America track in 2020 was Sha'Carri Richardson, Athing Mu, Allyson Felix, Dalilah Muhammad and Sydney McLauglin. America is only making a big deal about Gabby because of her Harvard degree in epidemiology and because no American has won the 200m gold in 10 years. I don't see where Gabby has become the face of America track in 2024, the only thing I see is that any woman who won a medal at Paris Olympics is being talked about and interviewed on American tv and all of their faces is everywhere in America including Sha'Carri, Sydney, TeeTee, Melissa, and Gabby. As long as they won a medal in their event it doesn't matter if it's gold, silver, or bronze they are being talked about and are the face of America both women and men medalist.

It may work for you, but for those of us outside America, this culture comes across as narcissistic and self-absorbed-a facade that sells a 'face' as if it's the only thing that matters. Without it, there's no worth, no value, no usefulness. These 'faces' are recognized solely for their ability to shine in a fleeting moment, and once time and age catch up, they’re quickly replaced by the next 'face.'
Take Gabby, for instance-a mixed-race beauty, Harvard-educated, and dating a white guy, making her the perfect candidate for the networks. On the other hand, Shakari doesn’t fit the mold-too much baggage, too many tattoos, too outspoken, and that doesn't sit well with the System. Plus, she let the System down by taking silver instead of gold. Remember all the hype around her Netflix movie? She didn’t meet their expectations, so they moved on to the next 'face.'
But this is all fleeting. As soon as Gabby loses her next race, they'll be onto another 'face.' It's clear how manipulative it all is-it’s capitalism at work, exploiting its victims. There's nothing behind it but money and a false sense of accomplishment. Gabby is the sweetheart of the moment, but give it time. Her relay race in the 100m was ok but if not for Sha Carri they would not have won gold because they were behind, and the 400m relay race was already over when Sydney pass the baton to Gabby because of the lead that Sydney gave her. I think Brittney Brown should have been given the opportunity to win Gold in either the 100m relay or 400m relay.

I Think it's because track is "What have you done for me" type of sport and with Shaccy losing that 100m final will cost her in the mainstream market because the world champs are every 2 years and everyone has forgotten about Budapest and Olympics is the pinnacle of the sport that's why you'll see Gabby all over

If she races Alfred again and they both get out the block at the same time or if Alfred slightly gets out the blocks fastest, ShaCarri will win easily. Gabby is marketable to more audience than ShaCarri. If you know you know and I'll leave it at that. There are multiple things that work in her favor. Just listen to how sports commentators talk about her versus ShaCarri.
Just because she has several degrees and may speak on the their level intellectually doesn't mean that she's more marketable than Sha Carri. That's what's wrong with people who look down on people who they deemed as less intelligent. Sha Carri may not have all the degrees as others, but people relate to her more because of her realness.
They just over looked Brittney Brown to run in a relay race which I found unfair because she could have done the same thing Gabby did in both relays, Gabby put them in 4th place in the 100m relay when Sha Carri got the baton and Sydney gave them such a big lead in the 400m relay that the race was over littery when she gave Gabby the baton. So why not let Brittney Brown run either in the 100m relay or the 400m relay at a chance for a gold medal. I think they wanted Gabby to be the poster child because Sha Carri is not to their intellectual liking. But she is electric and more exciting than any other US woman sprinter right now. We love Sha Carri ❤❤❤❤💪💪💪

@sionrouge1697 it's 4 million a year over 5 years and probably lost some of it by not qualifying in the 200m and not winning gold. Also, Naomi Osaka makes 10mil a year...so she is definitely not the highest paid female at nike. And nike doesn't pay like the other brands to begin with.
