I can kinda see it from both sides. But mostly I think its more stupid that the guy that got shot, doesn't always have a facemask on anyway. And I don´t understand why its not mandatory, to even being allowed to participate.
I use a DMR on 450fps and was in the same situation and didnt shoot MANY times. I dont think its right personally, and have often not shot someone because all I could see was their face. Their face isnt a weapon, even the ugly ones lol. - Yes maybe they should be wearing a face mask but a face mask is shit and I personally dont wear one and would appreciate the other player to give me the same courtesy in return. *PLUS - One can lose a tooth and your mom probably pays for that but if you pay for it yourself one day you will find out very quickly how expensive it can become to repair...
I don't wear a face mask as well (except for indoor fields), but I always wear a scarf that I put over my mouth when I peak like that or when I know I'm getting into close quarters and it's worked fine for me so far

I have a nice face mask to be honest and feel a crapload braver when using it but I just cant cheek the rifle nicely when I used the magnified scope on the DMR. Im looking into getting a gum guard next. Also, I''m not sure how effective a scarf would be though and suggest looking into something more resilient. I put a towel behind a cardboard box and tested my sub 400fps gun and it shot though both sides and made dents in the wall...a scarf will stop bleeding but if you get hit in the tooth with a heavy bb you may have a problem..a friend of mine just lost a tooth recently and the shot came from very far away

Here's a true story that has caused me to wear facemasks for every game I go to now: Played a game in a rundown mall in Ohio. There was some intense firefights in a back maintenance hall. Ricochets for days. Well, it was getting a little too spicy for me, and I decided to drop a grenade and bug out. Perfect escape plan. My exit led me to a wide open main hall leading into what was once the food court. I looked both ways and before I knew it, I was being shot from across the way. In the span of a second, my face and mouth were lit up like a Christmas tree. I spat out 3 bbs and half a tooth with a little blood for good measure. The shooter then proceeded to yell at me and ask if I was going to call my hits. I declared I would, but I was busy looking for teeth. Shooter was mortified about that. Fortunately, the break in the tooth was just above nerves, so while the pain sucked, it was manageable. Finished the fight, got a fake porcelain tooth after some rather uncomfortable oral surgery, and have had a facemask ever since. The shooter is now also an advocate for facemasks as well. Which is understandable. Tl;Dr: Never thought it would happen to me, got a tooth shot out. Always wear facemasks, kids.

Its what happens some times, luckily its not something that happen at every game, in the end its all about that handshake in the end and no teeth got damaged that counts.
