And a hell of a nice guy! We opened for him and we were meant to play a 30-minute set as we were getting off the stage he told us to stay and do a full show...
Love it! Another classic from one of Canada's most underrated musical talents. A long-forgotten song that I hadn't heard for 50 years or so. Glad I found it again!!
Terry Brown recorded this album for Pagliaro at Toronto Sound Studios. This I know because I was the assistant engineer on it! This album (and the process I witnessed) cemented my desire to become an engineer. These sessions were magic!
+Brad Finnson Hahhhh, thanks Brad. I did get to engineer quite a few of the acoustic guitars on the tunes he did with us. Tuning madness as I recall, but awesome music. Terry Brown is my hero!
When I hear songs like this, from a time when I was just a youngin', it makes me fall in love with classic rock all over again. Long live Canadian classics!
A totally brilliant album, from start to finish. It always takes me back to being a young kid growing up in the early 70's. I'm glad I grew up with this kind of music on the radio. Mr. Pagliaro is a Real Talent!
It is the last Album I bought from Amazon a year ago. I miss my old record collections. I had to sell most of them for bread and butter back in the late 80's. :)
Well i lost my in a flood in our basement when i was married! I finally found the LP as MP3 on the internet! I was so happy as i loved this LP so much as well growing up I used to play it so much! :)
Been listening to alot of retro and 70's lately. This whole era has such amazing unique music and its not all pure rock but alot of alternative sound. This is a classic example of that alternative sound its amazing it gets deep into your soul because it knows the way....
My memory of this song is it being played a lot of mornings at 2 or 3 am going lobster fishing ! The local DJ at CJCB radio would play it around the same time ! I loved it then and still love it more than 40 years later ! A classic !
+Nor Carr I had this on 8 track tape as well as LP and I played it so much that i would not think it would ever play again ..lol I just loved this LP so much! I am glad that i found a Mp3 copy of it :)
+Kelly Mark I had forgotten all about it when my gf reminded me of it just awhile ago. She reminded me of all the 45's I used to have and she said that she remembered that I had this one by Pagliaro and how she had found out he was from Quebec and was surprised by that, lol. Good tunes, good times.
I too had (and still have) the 45. Bought it when it charted. But the B-side was not "What The Hell I got." Your version must have come out later on a "oldie-but goldie" re-issue.
Yes... MICHEL PAGLIARO's Songs seem to #trigger Such #NOSTALGIA... Recall featuring his Songs on party tape compilations and it would be Rare to not get Asked "WHO IS THIS?"... He's Pure #MAGIC!
Don't ya love those moments when you hear a song and say OMG! I haven't heard this since I was a kid. I was at a casino in Lethbridge Alberta last night and the band opened with this. I forgot about this guy. Cool....................
. Michel topped both English and French music charts with one song! It still sounds huge, Upon first hearing , it sounded like something that would be recorded in L.A or New York, But was recorded right in Montreal i believe? Love the strings and that Latin tie in .. great writing ! Amazing tune.
I believe it was recorded at Eastern/Yorkville, in Toronto. Where Lightfoot, the Guess Who, and Ann Murray recorded. I worked with a guy, who mentioned he was there. It could be wrong...
After CK62 shut down in the late 90s, when I was 15, I never heard this song until 25 years later. I heard "So Far Away" by Dire Straits, some years later, and decided that must be the forgotten song I was thinking of. It wasn't until this video came up on autoplay a week ago that I realized this was the song, vastly different from Dire Straits.
I don't think there was or is a better song than Some sing Some dance in the pop world other than Enya, but most were so good back then! Michel P. is my superstar.
Most underrated musician ever in Canada ... Michel really does need to be inducted into the Canadian Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
yesss
Plus hundreds more Peter. Canucks make amazing music
Never thought of him as underrated but I take your point
He's there now my friend. Well done!
And a hell of a nice guy! We opened for him and we were meant to play a 30-minute set as we were getting off the stage he told us to stay and do a full show...
Growing up on the West Island of Montréal 60's and 70's, Pagliaro's music brings back memories of a beautiful time in my life.
I was 17 in 73, living in Beaconsfield.
Some sing, some dance, some like romance. I love lovin'. So succinct. Beautiful.
That fact that he is still not, is a crime of epic proportions!
Brings me back to a time where life was just so much fun.
Oh man, I haven’t heard this song in years. What a great tune.
Thank you for posting this!…
Welcome!! great old Canadian classic :)
Most underrated musician ever in Canada ... AGREE!
Congratulations Michel - Canada Walk of Fame 2023 - Merci pout les souvenirs
Love it! Another classic from one of Canada's most underrated musical talents. A long-forgotten song that I hadn't heard for 50 years or so. Glad I found it again!!
This song has always felt like French Canadian Beatles, great tune!

+davidhayesful .......You are my hero! Thanks for being a part of this man!
+Brad Finnson Hahhhh, thanks Brad. I did get to engineer quite a few of the acoustic guitars on the tunes he did with us. Tuning madness as I recall, but awesome music. Terry Brown is my hero!
Terry is still a fantastic producer/engineer, and such a great guy. Check out one of his latest prog bands, Blurred Vision.
David Hayes you all did a fabulous job
Thank you Sir.
When I hear songs like this, from a time when I was just a youngin', it makes me fall in love with classic rock all over again. Long live Canadian classics!
1970s ; an incredible decade for Canadian music…Pagliaro, Doucette, Lightfoot, Prism, Stampeders, Chilliwack….the list goes on…
A totally brilliant album, from start to finish. It always takes me back to being a young kid growing up in the early 70's. I'm glad I grew up with this kind of music on the radio. Mr. Pagliaro is a Real Talent!

I love this song - Michel is a good singer, and at the tender age of 23. He sounds like a Canadian version of George Harrison.
Glad that you enjoyed your listen :)
Yes, I agree. There's that Beatlesque quality in there. I was 11-12 when this song came out. Still got the single :)
Bingo, you nailed it Mo!
I would say, he's sounding like Lennon, even more, than, Lennon !
Yes! Definitely that Beatles vibe - and very Lennon-esque!
One of Quebec's greatest artist who's given the world so many great songs! :-
+Mario Fromadistance I have to agree 100% with You :)
I'm a 58 year old very proud Canadian and when I was a kid I first thought this was maybe George Harrison.
This guy and Ian Thomas are two Canucks that need to get played more often.
This song brings up memories I haven’t even experienced yet
Great song. A Canadian classic.
They sound like The Beatles in this song!! Awesome!
Can't say enough. Love this song ❤️ beautiful voice
The song gives me the chills (the good kind).
Helluva song by great entertainer, bring back the 70s n 80s
This is another masterpiece from Michel Pagliaro.

Great power pop-this song is so lodged in my brain, many thanks!
Certainly a classic
70s at its best, a canadian classic

Thank you so much for sharing this great "real" music.
You are most welcome! So glad that you enjoyed it :)
Reminds me that before disco overwhelmed the airwaves in the mid 70s, a lot of great songs came out in that decade.
oh how I miss the 70's...
Great guitar. Great Canadian.
630 CHED( Edmonton) played the heck out of Michel Pagliaro's songs. Powerhouse of the prairies they were.
I'm from.Montreal and heard more Pag here in Edmonton than back home! ✌🏼
Les belles années. Une grande chanson.
So glad that you enjoyed it! and i agree with you 100% :)
Don't ya love those moments when you hear a song and say OMG! I haven't heard this since I was a kid. I was at a casino in Lethbridge Alberta last night and the band opened with this. I forgot about this guy. Cool....................

Je ne me souviens pas combien de fois ce Canadien a tenu compagnie à mon jeune esprit confus. La musique au début des années 70 était apaisante pour la psyché. Bon choix, Kelly Mark.

@ TheTriplewitch So glad that you enjoyed it :)
find the one that will fit you ...... hold you the way you need to be held..........
the chorus borrows the introduction melody from "Let's Live for Today" by the Grassroots, 1967.......
great song from my childhood, is he Mexican or from South America?
+Scott Allen He's from Montreal.
French-Canadian with Italian background
Really reminds me of George Harrison or Badfinger.
Every-time I heard this song, I thought it's McCartney & his other song "What the Hell I've got" I thought Eddy Rabbitt. How screwed up is that?!
This song is and always was too short. And yet there's so much going on it sounds like a 4:30 song.
I just wanna love you Mary Joanne!
I have been in love with you....like forever
The first time I heard this song I thought it was George Harrison.
Me too!
Me three
Me four
good
I thought this was a George Harrison song for the longest time!
Il aurait pu faire une carrière internationale, dommage d'avoir une mentalité de né pour un petit pain ..
