Hi everyone... Firstly thanks for all the views, and all the positive comments. I wasn't sure how popular videos about a rotten old van would be. Obviously shes in need of a fair amount of work, and there is a fair bit of money to be spent. But I have wanted one for a long time so here goes nothing..🤣 There will be more videos in the coming month as I have a few jobs to do before she goes to the body shop. I haven't driven her much since picking up the old bus. But I am totally in love. The slow relaxed pace that's needed to nurse her along very much suits the way I like to drive. I really hope that you can all follow along as I totally empty my accounts trying to get her sorted for her first proper outing.. Cheers👍
Its in much better shape than the one I pulled out of a field and restored years ago. It had thistles growing through it. Eight months of blood sweat and tears went into it. At the end of it we had a nicely restored type 2 that the missus and me felt like throttling each other in after being couped up in it for more than a weekend, great times. 😊
@@theferalscots6195 I wouldn't even reply to these spam comments, mate... i think many if them are a way in to hacking channels, I just delete and report as soon as I am aware of them.
Guys, don’t listen to the feedback from the small minded people about these videos being boring. It’s going to be great to follow Betsea’s journey from start to finish. It’s probably going to take a lot of time and effort but will be well worth it for all the potential adventures that are on the horizon. Take care fella’s
not small minded mate, just not watching the page for the inside out of engines and vans. love these guys since the beggining and will continue. just got bored watching this.
I’m glad, for Betsies’ sake, you know what you’re talking about. I haven’t a clue about anything you said there Nath, but I can tell, she’s gonna be bootiful. A labour of love ✨❤️✨ I can hear the pitter-patter of many miles ahead 😏
Nath, thank you so much. Husband and I both fascinated by this video. We’d love to watch as much of the rebuild as you care to film - building / rebuilding cars is my husband’s hobby and over the years I’ve become enmeshed too. As much footage and as much detail as you care to put out! 🚌🚌🚌🚌 Really looking forward to future progress. As you say, looks as if there’s a fair bit still to do, but it will be a labour of love. What else could you possibly want to spend money on anyway 🤣
Wow, you've got yer work cut there bay. Just a little thought.....Those diesel heaters, which are all the rage and everyone is fitting atm, use a lot of 12v power to run the fans. Do a bit research about the power draw of the model you choose. Even better (just my opinion) are lpg heaters, no fan needed so no drain on your batteries. Thanks for posting this video, really enjoyed it, I'll be waiting for more updates, I'm sure she'll be amazing when you're done. Best of luck with her.
This is going to be avid viewing, almost a box set. If there’s one thing that’s enjoyable to watch, it’s a project such as this. You certainly know your stuff Nath, keep this going great to watch this project unfold.
I've add a transit mk5 for the last 8yr mate.and it's needed welding ever m.o.t. sounds like your van If you got the money then go for it.all the best mate
definetly a labour of love but worth it in the end and at least you can reconfigerate betsy how you wish every cloud has a silver lining onwards and upwards cheers
Jesus man, when you bought that I thought its a disaster, and now, well wow. I hope that guy paid you to take it away! Having owned one, I know how much money you can spend, and man you are gonna spend way more than I ever did. On the plus side you seem to be way more technically skilled than me and I am sure you will end up with a blinder. Seriously I felt like crying the more you showed in this video. Bit like the 6 million dollar man, if you are old enough to be in the know😉
Brilliant update video.. Its a real shame that Betsea needs so much work but on the other side you get to put more of what you want into the van with having to replace the interior etc.. All the best with the work and it will 100% be worth it in the end.. All the best 👍
Fantastic mate. I’d love to the have the patience and the skills to to do what you’re doing. Looking forward to the updates and the finished product. 👍 all the best!
Cheers for the update, Nath. Looks like you've been busy, and all that bodywork will set you well on the way to keeping the old lady on the road for a good few more years! Another thumbs up from me👍 Looking forward to seeing how things progress. All the best!
Looks a great project to undertake and we will definitely be following along. Nate Murphy's YT channel features some great van builds and he does a brilliant handbook for van builds that may be worth reading. We'll being doing one once the lockdown eases. Good luck for the project. John.
Well done Nath, something to keep you busy during lockdown.😁 Fitted out a van from scratch before, so your doing the right thing, taking your time and doing it right. It'll be worth it to you in the end.
Hi nath, I’m glad you stripped it out to consume the holes, once done you’ll have a solid structure to work with. Can’t wait for the updates, good luck 🤞🏻
Interesting video .. you certainly have a fair bit of work to do, but no doubt when it's all finished you'll have a cracking good van and more fun sleeping inside it, rather than under a tarp on Dartmoor I'm lucky enough to own a T25 Westfalia California pop-top van (1989 diesel model) Good luck with your project
Couple of great videos on the van, Nath. Shame it needs so much, but as a man who’s owns several old VWs, I can’t say I’m surprised. As I’m sure you know, oil pressure could be down to something as simple as worn rings. Be worth getting a compression tester on each cylinder and see what’s up. Might be cheaper and save you needing a new engine. Take it easy , Ben (Bridge Civils)
Work cut out there Nath. Look forward to the updates though. I've got some friends who dabble with T25 spare parts. Used to work for VW for 13 years so if you're stuck for any parts let me know, I can give them a buzz. #100 👍
Great update Nath! You have done quite a bit and just managed to find more to do.... Don't know if it was a beach owner previously but perhaps, Betsea = By the sea = salt = rust. Quite the project and I look to watching it come together... Cheers my friend.
looking forward to seeing your progress, has been a dream of mine for some time but the time and expense out of my league but I really enjoy what can be accomplished with some talented/skilled folks
I had the buzzer of doom too....after hours of work I couldn't fix it. I took it to a guy in Stoke on Trent who did an oil pressure test - it was excellent (engine is a refurb with 4k miles) he earthed the alarm out and it is now great 👍🏻
Wow, I’m starting to think I had a really good van 😳. Mind Betsea’s in good hands now, thank god you bought her. Thanks for sharing the progress so far, we are all rooting for ya 😬😬😬😬
Hello Trev, hello Nath, great Scott! We had wondered how you were getting on, thank you so much for the update. Good luck with the continuing work and keep a hold of Neil! Stay safe and good luck, all the very best, Ceri and Kat ☕🚎❤👍 you have done so wel so far, keep it going!
When replacing the fridge go for a compressor fridge. Lighter and more efficient and No need for holes in the body panels. Insulate and sound proof it as it’s the condensation that forms on bare metal that then sits in cavities and rots it out from the inside. Check out Combe valley campers for loads of good ideas and advice on the T3/t25.
That looks like a lot of welding there bud😣 🤞🏻 it won’t cost too much. I’m hoping to do a camper conversion myself at some point, just finding the right vehicle to start with🤷🏻♂️ keep the updates coming nath👍🏻 cheers for the video bud✌🏻🚐
Great video nath, well out together Trev. Would love a van one day (that’s if I can even drive haha) sounds a proper faff on. Rather you than me, good luck with it.
So... the steering wheel stays and everything eyes gets replaced?? Sorry, could not resist. Around here there are junkyards dedicated to RVs and caravans, you can pick up interior parts for low cost. Can't wait for the next episode of Betsey and Nath.
I bet you've been pulling your hair out 😳 with all the expenses, keep going mate it be well worth it in the end, can't wait for more updates watching it transform..
First time watching your videos very informative really enjoy watching them .Im on the look out for a van and have made endless long journeys just to find a load of rubbish when arriving are there any solid ones out there .😂
Well, that's a lot of work. Is the basic frame of the bus of sound quality? Anyway, you could turn it all into videos, show what exactly you're doing. Van Rebuild, a new SoN Series.
I had a engine knock on my old t25 when i had it years ago. I was coming back home and the engine lost power and i managed to get it home slowley. When i turned the engine over it knocked. I took it too elite vw in Essex they had a bad rep but at the time it was all i could afford. They reconditioned the engine for around £900 cannot rember the exact price. When i got it back it was running real good and i never had a problem with the egine for six years then i sold it. I think Elite VW they have a bad rep online but in my experience it was the best money i spent on the van. It was my daily driver as well.
Do yourself a favour and put a decent Subaru engine in it. Not a turbo etc, just a standard ej25 or something. Failing that, put a 2.0 8v Golf engine in. Ive done both over the years and it transformed it. Easy jobs too. The old engines are crap, and not worth messing with.
Nath - Check out 'foresty forest channel', he's currently doing a van build from scratch similar to you and has loads of great ideas you could pinch? All the best, Paul

It's going to be good ... It's good for the soul
Can not wait to see her process as you get your teeth into it good luck

You have done a great Job Nath and will be an awesome baby when your done . 👍👍
Fantastic mate. I’d love to the have the patience and the skills to to do what you’re doing. Looking forward to the updates and the finished product. 👍 all the best!

Hi Nath Summit Or Nothing has turned into car SOS LOL. Good luck mate cheers Jc.
At least there’s plenty of room in the bay, with no complicated electronics to confuse everything.
Hi nath, I’m glad you stripped it out to consume the holes, once done you’ll have a solid structure to work with. Can’t wait for the updates, good luck 🤞🏻
Wow buddy .. tons of work .. but look forward to watching the progress.. Cheers Chris & Sam
Good luck! Seems like you're on top of it. Betsea will surely reward you with a lot of fun and great times 👍🤩
Looking forward to seeing progress videos down the line.
I'd still love one of those, despite the rust issue's. Cheers Nathan 👌
Van is looking good! If it still runs, don’t get rid of it!
Great video, very interesting to view. Love Betsea. Keep us updated!!
Very interesting Nath, good luck with it and I look forward to seeing more. Cheers.
It’s a labour of love. You’ll get there in time. Will be a pucker motor full resorted & worth a few quid.

Sounds like you know what you are doing - hope it all goes well. I know how to change a spark plug if it helps? :-)
I put central locking on mine and tinted windows
Will you be taking Moby out and about in it? He's a lovely dog!
For anyone without 10 minutes here is my summary..
Full rebuild 👍
Found your video, and then no more updates... What happened to Betsea???
I know. Nath sold it to his dad to take on the project. It's still ongoing. Would have been good to follow the progress
You can't beat a brick.
1st purchase should be a tarp and ground sheet it looks a it leaky

Jesus....walk away now bey...
Another money pit 😬
man this is far removed from outdoor adventure, so boring
Well be back with outdoors adventures on out next video, Amy!
