Guys thank you for documenting this. I saw you guys ride by a few times. We were sheltering at the Baptist church on E and Second streets. You guys are brave souls and you have my respect documenting the damage of my hometown and the hometown of 8 generations of my family. Cedar Key will be changed forever after this but you can bet that we will rebuild and we will not only survive but thrive.
As a 4th generation Floridian we wish the best for you and you are strong! We will help in any way possible to ensure yall are takin care of. Praying for yall! 🙏🙏🙏
I would love to retire to Cedar Key but this right here concerns me a little. I want to come visit the area this summer when I retire and hope it is recovering by then.
Amazing work guys. I am truly inspired by the work that you do. I find storms of this magnitude intriguing. Once I found your live stream on RUclips last night, I couldn't stop watching, and I'm watching again today. Glad you were able to stay safe. Thoughts and prayers go out to all adversely affected by this storm.
I personally rode it out on high ground. Most residents evacuated but a few of us first responders stayed to get a head start at first light as far as clearing roads. I’m writing this at 5:15 AM local. We’re still waiting for the water to recede and the sun to come up so we can properly evaluate damage. Thank you for your thoughts. We will rebuild and we will stay strong.
@@sleepingontheblacktop6053 then my hopes and wishes are that the rebuilding will as fast as it got destroyed. But mostly I hope that the damage will not be as horrible as the weather was. Wishing you strength and cope with the situation. ❤️🩹
Here in Aiken SC, right next to Augusta GA. We got hit pretty hard here, it was tolerable & minimal damage as far as I know. But I saw the sky light up sooo bright it was blueish; greenish from the power lines. Our lights kept flickering all throughout the night till the wee morning. At 6:17 we lost power but when I prayed it came back on at 6:45am! So I thank God we’re one of the few houses we have our power back. I believe it’s a little over 1million customers without power. I’ll be praying for those affected by this hurricane.
68 yrs old and have Lived in Florida, Coastal Volusia county, my entire life. Went to Cedar Key for the first time about 5 months ago. Everyone was rebuilding. Watched the sunset at the cottages. Loved the little island. Like Sanibel Island, One of the last signs of old Florida left. I never went to Sanibel Island always wanted to my entire life. I Was planning on it two weeks prior to one of the hurricanes annihilating it a couple of years ago, but something came up and we couldn’t go. It really bothered me that I missed seeing Sanabel with it’s old Florida vibe.I’m glad I got to see Cedar key, before this hurricane hit, even though it was highly damaged. It was still some what The small fishing village feel that used to be found all throughout Florida. I feel sorry for the owners of the cottages at the Faraway Inn. There’s nothing to protect those cottages they are right at Ocean level. I really appreciate you guys spending the time to share this footage with us. I also watched the drone footage from the day after. It’s so heartbreaking to see all the damage of that beautiful little island. I could not believe how remote it was when we went to visit. I thought we would drive there and get a hotel room and have dinner. Ha ha ha. Two hour wait to have dinner. I think there were two restaurants open and tons of people that come from all over the country to stay on this little island. there may be more but that’s all we found. We didn’t get there until sunset and finding a hotel room was a joke. I guess you have to book a hotel room a year and advance. I thought at the time I would love to have a little place on this island. But looking at this and knowing how many times it’s been hit now in a row , not so much. Anyway I couldn’t believe how far we had to drive to get a hotel room that night I think we ended up going to Gainesville. It’s an amazing little island in the middle of nowhere! I fell in love with it and want to go back. Hopefully find a Airbnb or some type of rental. I guess it will be sometime now before that will be possible. I feel so sorry for the people that live there insurance is going to be impossible. It’s already getting impossible to Get insurance anywhere in Florida.Prices have skyrocketed and are outrageous if you can find a insurance company willing to Insure you to start with.

Ive watched many video's documenting hurricane helene. This one by far shows the most destruction helene had on streets, homes, ect, during the first impact on land.
