I like this scene when Ellie beats up David with the machete too. She's also very clever in using her brain and saying how she's infected and stuff too to get herself out of the situation so that David doesn't attack her or hurt her too. She really has been through a lot too.
Playing as Ellie in the first game was super cool. It was such a big surprise. In the second game, Ellie can be so annoying sometimes. She became boring
So having a loved one murdered in front of you and traveling in an infected ridden world to avenge them is supposed to make a person more fun and upbeat? 😂 She's also still struggling with guilt over Joel saving her from the fireflies. Even this whole event with David in part 1 was traumatic for her. We literally see a shift in her personality then if you pay attention. 🤷🏾♀️ Plus nobody is the same at 19 as they were at 14. They made the story and her emotions real.

But playing with her as she is, is not as fun as in the first game. She also loses every sense of character, and just becomes a killing revenge machine, that can work narratively, but TLOU II is horrible at making it work. It doesn't work. Because you're going through about 30+ hours of gameplay, with two characters that are always so mad and upset, and then in the end, the only one who gets a happy ending is Abby. And throughout the whole game, Ellie has no interesting dialogue. It all just "I hate those people", "let's go after those people", "those people are crazy", and more of that. There are no small moments of growth, or just moments of cool, unique, character building interaction. The closest they got to, was when she was with Jesse. You played the game, I am sure you payed attention. Maybe you liked it, but I don't think they did a good job with her character. But before you go around dissing someone for not thinking like you do, realize that there are different ways to make someone grieve other than being annoying and boring, or the complete opposite, fun and upbeat
