Man, the normal ending is actually somewhat darker than it seemed. Heather had accepted the truth of who she was, what she could’ve been and has to live with the fact that she is Alessa in her third incarnation. With the death of her father and the horrors she went through, all she could do was hide it with humour and a smile. The credits screen actually got me tearing up, as she comes to terms with her loss and her acceptance. Even in sorrow, she knows that she can go on with her life. “Suffering is a fact of life. Either you learn to deal with that, or you go under.”
Well, the common theme of the Silent Hill 'regular' endings is the protagonists coming to terms with their inner demons/past. In 1 it's the acceptance of the fact that Cheryl is gone and that in helping Alessa, he has allowed the two of them to give life united/continue on. In 2 it's the fact that Mary is gone and, even if it was mercy killing, at his own hands but that their life together was happy and that he needs to move on rather than cling to the guilt. He accepts and comes to terms with the fact that he did it out of love but also because the strain on his life had made part of him wishing her gone. In Silent Hill 3 AleHeaCherylessa comes to terms with her repressed memories and her past identities as well as the fact, that despite this, she is still her own person with her own wishes, that her Father loved her all the same and that the right choice for her is to choose life rather than death as in the past.
@@Salted_Fysh Acceptance is the common formula most protagonists (apart from Henry, since he did nothing wrong in the past life) go through in the end after dealing with the horrific manifestations based off of their tragedies and regrets. As for Alex from Silent Hill: Homecoming, after he accidentally got Joshua killed during a boat ride, he denied the truth of his young brother being dead and went into a mental breakdown. Even though he was taken to a mental hospital, Alex forced himself to believe he became a soldier and went off to fight a war to cope with his trauma. After dealing with the truth and the monsters, he had to accept the fact his little brother had died, because of his carelessness and resentment towards him. Even after the deaths of his parents, Alex had come terms with his lose and carried on. I like the exception of this trope in Silent Hill 4, where Henry himself never caused any faults towards his family or ever personally got involved with anyone in Silent Hill. He just happened to come across a nightmare when he moved into a cursed apartment that Walter Sullivan used to live in. I believe the theme in the fourth game was that Henry had to conquer his anxiety and cooperate with another person, due to him being socially awkward. In the good ending, after he was free from his apartment, Henry went to visit Eileen at the hospital and the two formed a relationship together.

the joke here is that Heather is a sort of "magical girl" a la Sailor Moon, that is, she discovers she's the holy figure of the cult's doctrine. You need to forgive her, kill everything in your way and let everything hit you at least once. Game calculates sanity points, higher number equals better chance of getting bad ending. I think you need to have at least 4000 points to get this ending.
That question in the first has nothing to do with the ending at all. Even the producer said it in the video. It was only to make us question(?) It’s was the question like “Hey, what would YOU do”
1) You'll _always_ get that first ending the _first_ time you play through the game, no matter what you do. To get the "Possessed" ending, you have to finish the game with the first ending, then use that game's file to start a new game. 2) Even if you forgive the woman, it doesn't _necessarily_ mean you'll get the "Possessed" ending. You have to show that Claudia's provoked Heather's anger by taking and dealing damage in combat.
@@emilyhowell6624 Incorrect. Forgiving the woman _is_ part of the under-the-covers score for the "Possessed" ending, provided you've opened that ending by playing another game using the save file of a completed one. What the producer was saying is that the question is a true dilemma, that it has no right answer. Either you accept the role of a god with sinful pride, or you reject comforting someone in pain.
The little touches are so much of what makes this game work, such as how Heather's decision to forgive the confessor follows a sigh of resignation, of defeat, as Heather accepts the role into which she's been forced.

You can forgive the woman in the confessional and still get the normal ending. You also don't have to play on extra new game. You can get the possessed ending on your first run.
I don't know about the killing too many enemies rule, I killed at least 85% of the enemies just to get them out of the way and I still got the good ending. I think it solely relies on what you say in the confession booth.
I didn't really know what I was doing in the game. It was my first time playing. I somehow got the normal ending even though I said I forgive you. I just felt bad for the woman.
You will always get "normal" completing the first playthrough. Plus the confession is just one criteria, so forgiving her doesn't necessarily lead to the bad ending.

It's a point system. You have to have under 4000 points to get normal. Forgiving adds 1000. Over 4000 and its revenge ending. Killing many enemies adds 10 per enemy.
And if you're curious why the above comment is correct: the "Possession" ending (which is only available after you've played through the entire game once already on a save file and gotten the "normal" ending) represents Heather succumbing to the influence of the "god" incubating inside her, even though she kills it. So it helps if she 1) pronounces divine judgment on the confessor and 2) succumbs to her rage as Claudia wanted.
@@paIeville More accurately, it's a prescient, then running, joke at the expense of those who put value in "canon", who can't handle the series' ambiguities or subjective frames of reference. Silent Hill 2 would like a word with you. They are kinda on equal leveling but 2 just didn't have the buggy problems that 3 did and it also kinda had better resolutions to a lot of the story points than 3 did.
Silent Hill 3 was creepier than 2 , it came back to pitch dark bloody and rusty world that Silent hill 1 had , the creepy ambience sound when you find that first two legged worm enemy in the hallway of 3rd floor in mall.... that intense breathing sound in the beginning of the hospital visit... and the creepiest thing in the whole game: that basement room in the church which was turning very very black and bloody .. Silent Hill 2 's darkside world was wet walls , foggy and mold... not really scary at all.
@@fearfulharmonycddrama6216 I didn't like the desing of the enemies in Sh3, they were like forcing them to be scary with exaggerateds members and sizes. Pyramid head is a example of how Sh2 have not to exaggerate the desings to make them creepier.
Because there's a god inside Heather, and forgiving the woman isn't something plain old Heather Mason could do. (It's ambiguous who the woman is, and that's as it's supposed to be. There are a lot of fan "theories" floating around, but that part isn't really some detective story to be solved.)
@@icenukegangsta1020 It's possible to read Heather as some "new" Alessa in the "Possession" ending, but it's a hard argument to make. Alessa, at least in the games, isn't generally malevolent, or malevolent without specific purpose. In the first game, Harry finds out that he's been manipulated as concerns her, not without cause, and in many ways, they're on the same side. The "Memory of Alessa" Heather encounters seems more like her own past life's death wish embodied. Then again, maybe Douglas aiding Claudia's mission in his ignorance was enough to raise Alessa's ire.
There's a god inside Heather, something that doesn't strictly belong to this world's sense of right and wrong, and while Heather always kills it in the end, the second time you play through the game, you're given a chance to show, through decisions, that she strayed too far under its influence and Claudia's. Is the god now alive in her? Is the body you kill a discarded shell? Or is the mother of God something just as strange? It's left ambiguous.
Thanks for the upload, man. This game was pretty good, but I can't see myself replaying it again over SH2. The story and characters are too... blah. All the horror elements were great, but it's unfortunate that it had to be tied to all the lame cult nonsense. Damn good horror game, though.
Lol the whole cult thing was literally part of the firsr game, i know sme creative team was decreasing over eacg game development but the clearly have not play the first game because silent hill 2 not even connected to silent hill 1. That silent hill 2 intended more then just illusion and mind bran, ot started from a beginning.
@@iancruz6617 Yeah, and the cult stuff sucked in SH1, as well. The horror of Silent Hill is supposed to come from the town, itself, and making it a literal human messing with you makes it much less engaging. Placing a human face on the horror makes it way less abstract, and also less interesting. SH2 is the best game because it's more character-driven and gets away from external threats like the stupid cult business. James could simply leave the town at any point, which really says more about him than Harry wanting to find his daughter. It makes James much more compelling.
@@Poet482 Technically suppose origin of the place. You know that i forgot that place was harmless that it just got corrupted to end up being it was i forgot where and lodt infor on it. That, the whole reason why the town become what it's over some cult burning the little girl that had given contrl life to it and burn it to corruption. While knowong what happen the end of silent hill 1 there a good reason why there not in silent hill 2 and the fact james just happen to go to the place finding where to throw his dead wife he killed. He start to illusion and mess of his mind also of i remember correctly a lot like in silet hill 2 you interact like lisa was already dd that she don't notice even harry, while in sme od reason beside james a lot of characters you interac aka humans are actually alive even the fat guy acting crazy was alive and interactive to you that i already mss forgot. Well technically if i rememver correctly that harry has moreof a connection to te town knowing his daughter is heavily link to what is silent hill was.
Cheryl...looks like this game related to the game named "silent hill shattered memories"...it is a story about a father who is looking for his daughter after he was involved on a accident...and then his daughter looks same with the daughter! Also..the name of that daughter was same..cheryl!
Actually, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a kind of retelling of the first game, only with more psychological horror and running away from the enemies rather than having the ability to fight them off. *Spoilers!* It takes place in the ending of Silent Hill 1 where Harry died in the crash. Adult Cheryl is in therapy to accept all of it, (hence all of the sessions with Dr. What's-His-Face in between the segments with Harry) and depending on you actions, she may accept that he wasn't quite the hero she pictured him to be.
@@sunshinegamer1981 Shattered Memories had more psychological horror? I'd definitely say its psychological horror was more obvious, but that's about it. The original game was wayyyy more fucked up than Shattered Memories in terms of psychological horror, lol.

Pyramid head is a example of how Sh2 have not to exaggerate the desings to make them creepier.
thank you for these, why does forgiving the woman cause possession I always thought the woman was her mother or something
Because there's a god inside Heather, and forgiving the woman isn't something plain old Heather Mason could do. (It's ambiguous who the woman is, and that's as it's supposed to be. There are a lot of fan "theories" floating around, but that part isn't really some detective story to be solved.)
@@MegaZeta it sounded alot like Claudia tho
@@doncinati7644yeah i think it was her
You can forgive the lady in the confession booth and still get the normal ending. I think you got it reversed?
Got worst ending on first gameplay. Just gotta kill lots of enemies.
Wait would i get the normal ending if i didn't say i forgive you? I wanna k!ll a lot of monsters but i don't want my friend Douglas to d!e.
It says you have to take a lot of damage too, so you've got a few chances to get the normal ending.
@@aarondanaher9426 i understand but do i still have to say i forgive you?
@@misa_marcus1953 If you don't say I forgive you, you get the normal ending according to this video. I never tried.
@@aarondanaher9426 okay thank you!
Yay you're alive
:D
Missed watching your videos. What's next on your playlist bro?
Thanks bro! DreadOut Act 2, then Resident Evil 7.
WatchMeBeibeh yown oh! looking forward bro! may aabangan na naman ako. :)
Try ko tapusin agad yung DreadOut. Excited na kasi ako sa RE7 hahaha.
Did you upgrade your PC or got a console, then?
WatchMeBeibeh excited din ako sa RE7. Mas natutuwa pa kong panuorin ka kesa maglaro mismo eh. Hahaha.
Ufo is canon
Didn't understand why she killed the detective
Odollete Blue she was possesed
@@ChrisSor54 Who's possessed Heather?
@@RanmaChan Sailor Moon
It's left ambiguous.
what? i said ''forgive you'' to that woman and still got the normal ending
You get normal ending for completing the game for the first time regardless of what you do.

@@iancruz6617
Yeah, and the cult stuff sucked in SH1, as well.
Is this the PC version??
Yes
Her costume transformation reminds me of sailor moon
No wai!
Why did she killed the old man?
Cheryl...looks like this game related to the game named "silent hill shattered memories"...it is a story about a father who is looking for his daughter after he was involved on a accident...and then his daughter looks same with the daughter! Also..the name of that daughter was same..cheryl!
l WALVARITZ lmao xD
You do know this game is a sequel to the first game, right? I hope this is a joke comment.
@Ethan Johnson Butthurt about what?.....
The original game was wayyyy more fucked up than Shattered Memories in terms of psychological horror, lol.
i didnt hear any instructions
So what game are you doing next?
DreadOut Act 2, then Resident Evil 7.
Do you intend to play Silent Hill 4? Please?
Yes, but I will take a break from silent hill.
why you dont upload more often ?
Sorry, I've been busy with work, but I will try to upload faster so I could start playing Resident Evil 7 (after DreadOut Act 2). I can't wait to play that game!
WatchMeBeibeh Oh that's great
I never knew that
Real name of Heather=Cheryl WTAF????? Never knew this! :O
Well... did you play Silent Hill 3?
Heather= Cheryl= Alessa
Heather is the baby that Harry saved in the first game. This baby was a rencarnation of Alessa. Harry named the baby "Charyl" in the honor of his daughter. Heather is not Cheryl, but a rencarnation of Alessa.
Nice
i miss u :))))
Thank you :D
chapter's please
