I love the ODO I bought based on your review. Even included a shoutout to your review when ordering from VE. This is a good option when (not if lol) I have higher impedence headphones / IEMs.
@@ArmidaMusic Thank you for your feedbacks. Yes I will probably be just fine with the ODO as I do not have full size headphones and all my iems are DDs or BAs. By the way, how is the ODO from a durability perspective?
@@AndyAudioVault If possible it’d be great to know how the Organic pairs with Xduoo XD05T? Organic and Mojo2+Poly is my first headphone. Sounds great, especially with Crossfeed and slight DSP adjustment. Unfortunately though it’s getting sent in for battery replacement. I’ve ordered XD05T for while it’s being serviced. Also, hoping XD05T as an amp with mojo2+poly could add some extra warmth and dynamics, and possibly be a bit more analogue/organic sounding. Looks like this would make a worthy successor to my 4yo Odyssey HD and CX-Pro that I use in no-frills no-dangling situations. I do notice some faint noise (like rhythmic tp-tp-tp-...) on idle when I use the OHD with my
Bought one after watching your review. However, VE took 4-5 days before they actually shipped mine. No complaints with ODO's performance. However, their cable is fragile. There's snap, crackle later on since mobile. Bought another one, still experiencing the same. Now... They better fix that with Devastator.
about background noise maybe you meant the 4.4mm version? and on the 3.5 version it will probably be less noticeable on sensitive headphones. I ordered this amp with the 3.5 version for my 30-ohm hybrids, I hope it will work well with these headphones
Regardless 4.4 or 3.5mm they still run from the same exact DAC/Amp inside the Devastator. At this ultra compact form factor, the 4.4mm is not a true discrete circuit. They are all still single ended. 4.4mm option was made available for those already using 4.4mm cables
i ordered odo right before you uploaded this 😅 im using truthear hexa with a xinhs pure silver cable, how much of a difference would odo has compared to devastator
You are good. In terms of resolution for efficient IEMs like Hexa, both ODO and Devastator would be equally great. But Devastator does offer a bit more density to the body of sound due to Devastator higher power output
My Devastator arrived today. Is it normal that the background noise in the left earbud is much more intense than in the right? Maybe some kind of defect, or is this a feature of its operation? And no one in the reviews I looked at said that this dac has a dark character, I would like to have more impact on high frequencies, my galaxy s10e phone plays better in this regard.
KA17 is rated 4Vrms and Devastator is rated 2VRMS, that alone will tell you the difference. Also don't forget the huge price gap. For ultra compact segment Devastator is the most powerful
Xuan Nv has low sensitivity at 98dB despite the low impedance rating so it will not be susceptible to floor noises like low impedance high sensitivity hybrid IEMs. No problem
I got the VE Odo on your recommendation because it had in-line mic support. I really like the VE Odo, but it has developed a noise after some use. Does the VE Devastator 3.5 support in-line mic?
Hi Andy, mine arrived 2 days ago. I have the 4.4 devastator, but the problem is that the left and right channel has been reversed. Can you check on it if you also have that issue?
DDs are less prone to floor noises unless they are a part of a hybrid with crossover. Single DD between 24 to 32 Ohm are not impacted like my DUNU Titan S2
No comparison, totally different segments, different power ratings and different prices altogether. Devastator is competing in the 2VRMS segment with the cheapest price possible in the smallest form factor. ONIX Alpha competes in the upper range with bigger real estate and way more power and features and cost 5x more too
Explorer is actually quite efficient and no where near being power hungry. But it does scale really well with more power. So yes ODO or better still, Devastator will pair with it perfectly
Great review as always . I got a few questions is there a difference in power between 3.5 and 4.4 mm versions ? Also can it drive planar iems like S12 to their full extent ? you're not missing out on any noticeable improvements beyond it ? Thank you in advance .
Thanks. I don't have the 3.5mm SE version with me so it is hard to be sure. But at this form factor, both 3.5mm SE and 4.4mm BAL should have equal power overall. And yes it has more than enough power for S12 to drive it to 90% considering that all planars will shine even better with much higher output
Once again an excellent review, i just ordered one, cheers from Brazil!
🙏😁
Best looking Moondrops so far !! can’t wait for the full review… please take shots wearing them, I would like to see how much do they stick out
Absolutely

How convenient, I had the ODO on my cart and was about to order it based on your recent recommendation. Guess I will cancel it and get these instead 😂

Thanks man! 👍
Thanks Andy. Do you think it will make a good job driving the Beyerdynamic DT880 pro (250 ohm) ?
No problem with DT880 which is not as demanding as Sennheiser HD600 or HiFiMan Arya
I guess we can't compare it to something like fiio ka17 , regarding the power output?
KA17 is rated 4Vrms and Devastator is rated 2VRMS, that alone will tell you the difference. Also don't forget the huge price gap. For ultra compact segment Devastator is the most powerful
Not a bad dongle and has some power,Fiio KA11 sure is fighting for his place.

I am not sure about the UA1 mini but I am working on UA6 now
@@AndyAudioVault
Oh,heard good things about the UA6,looks a good competition to the Fiio BTR17

The 3.5mm Devastator supports MIC
Cool! I might get it then.
How does this compare with fiio ka11 in sound. They are about the same price for me so wondering with one is better.
VE Devastator is marginally better than KA11 in overall sound quality, and does not run hot like KA11
Awesome. Just bought it. Thanks Andy.
Hi Andy, mine arrived 2 days ago. I have the 4.4 devastator, but the problem is that the left and right channel has been reversed. Can you check on it if you also have that issue?
I have checked mine, does not seem to be reversed. You should ask VE on this
Thanks @AndyAudioVault. Mine seems defective, and VE already gave refund on shopee PH.
Would you recommend it for magnetic planars under 32 Ohm like the MP143?
Magnetic planars regardless of impedance rating are all okay. The nature of magnetic planars being highly scalable loves power
@@AndyAudioVault Alright, thank you for responding!
hi Andy, did you test with the 4.4 or 3.5? Just wondering if the 3.5mm will be fine for my HD650 with phone. Thank you!
I only have the 4.4mm version. The 3.5mm should be okay for HD600 too
How about any dynamic driver under 32 ohm?? does it have noise floor as well Andy?
DDs are less prone to floor noises unless they are a part of a hybrid with crossover. Single DD between 24 to 32 Ohm are not impacted like my DUNU Titan S2

How does this work with the Aful Explorer vs the ODO? I have the ODO on order but hear the explorer is power hungry.
Explorer is not power hungry but it can scale with more power. Even a weaker apple dongle can run it just fine

R u gonna review arya unveiled? Is it better than organic and stealth version?
Yes, very soon all three compared
Wait it can only support up to 32 bit 48khz?
Yes, just like tons of other ultra compact dongles. But it does goes to 96Khz
Abigail Pro and Megatron also peak at 96kHz, so that's just how it goes with certain VE DAC firmwares.
is it inline mic compactible?
Only for 3.5mm model. 4.4 version does not support MIC
