@@william6526 Living in NE Ohio we usually get snow before all leaves have fallen. We usually run mowers in January after ground is frozen to remove remaining leaves from grass.
🇨🇦35 yr Carpenter here, take the compressor, hose, and nailer into a heated area for 12hrs. Turn it on with drain valve on bottom only to blow out moisture. Put a few drops of pneumatic oil in nailer and try it after closing drain valve. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Hey all at Lumnah Acres, just a quick piece of advice regarding any air compressors. All air compressors produce water which is produced from compressing air. So at least once a quarter you should release the compressors contents and remove the valve at the bottom to expel any water from the tank, reason being is that the water can be acidic (like your mini-split air conditioners produce) and it can\will cause rust inside the tank. Also the water will cause the compressor to get hot because the water vapour can basically cause the piston to hydraulic/cause damage to the motor. When I worked in a garage/motor-shop we did this step once a month and get 9-12 pints of water out of it.
@@mauriceryton LOL Can you imagine what the blades/ hammers look like going over frozen ground LMAO. Reminds me of the Time Al mowed the pasture on the old homestead with the Kubota ride on. Tore the deck up pretty bad.
@ l agree with all except drainage once a quarter. That is not enough to maintain a health compressor. During my apprenticeship years the compressor was drained at the end of each working day and left open overnight. It takes less than a minute to open and too close. I do this with my shop compressor daily.
Hey when you bring your tractor in to dry it out you need to put a tarp down on the floor and drive on top of it so when it melts you can drive off and then lift the tarp up and have no mess on the floor😊😊😊❤

I like watching Brutus when you are cutting lumber. He really is smart! I think he believes he is “helping “ somehow the way he nabs the little pieces that fall. I thought he was getting them to chew on and he still does that, but if that was all, he would keep the one piece. But every time a new piece falls, he gets it too, so he is helping clean up! He really is a beautiful dog!
One problem is, I saw a chunk of 2X6 out in the yard, how many more out there, I don't know. The snow blower will just LOVE THEM when Al is cleaning up after a snow storm, BOOM- BANG !!!
You should attach a vacuum to collect all that sawdust from your miter saw with a switch that turns the vacuum on when you start your saw. I understand why you don't use the dust bag, but this would save you time cleaning.
That only works about 50%, and as you have to go to all the same places and clean them up, it's hardly worth doing. You could add a 4" extract on a funnel behind the mitre saw and that'll get another 30%, but you'll still have clean up.
@CrimeVid it is still better than breathing it all the time and having it laying all over the floor. Or better yet get one of those dust extractor systems that you can hook up to all the tools in the shop, plus get an air filtration system as well! Yes you would still have to clean up some dust, but not as much! 😂😂
Hey Al, getting that tractor stuck brought back memories of a colleague getting a unimig bogged. Follow the break-in instructions to the tee. There is also a double tank version that switches between each tank keeping the air pressure high the entire time. When was the last time that you oiled your pneumatic nail guns? In cold weather, the moisture in the air will condense inside the nail guns and wash all the lubrication away. A few drops of air tool oil a day or a oiler that screws into the air fitting is your friend. The oil removes the small particles of trash all nail guns generate. Also, drain the tank at the end of the day to keep the condensate from rusting out the tank.
My son told me that with as much wood as you have on your property, you should invest in a pellet maker. You have to have a chipper that chips fine, and then the pellet maker compresses your pellets, so you never have to repurchase them. You'll always have all you want or need, and you could even make money and make it pay for your investment. You can't be the only one needed pellets.
I used to work with highway maintenance crews. After a new workshop was built, the wash bay was inside and would allow anything, even the full size lowboy, to be washed and parked inside if necessary. It was really nice to be able to let the accumulated ice and snow melt off of the equipment!

You astonish me, watching you start literally with raw dirt, build infrastructure, a new home, pastures, animal barns and shelters and two big barns thus far. After several episodes, I began to wonder why Gina wasn't using all the various equipment in a more or less equal development of essential skills. We see from today's video that you've covered your family with life insurance (one would hope there's been coverage all along), but I've been wondering if Gina would be able to take over running the tractors, for example, if you're unable to either temporarily or otherwise. Does she know how to change attachments, mow, run the excavator, et al. If you ever get to Newport, message me and I'll give you the cook's tour.

Good morning that new excavator is going to be one of your best assets! I can’t wait to see your composting results! Gina is going to have bumper crops! God bless you all!
Mowing un mowed ground maybe not so smart when you cant see ROCKS under the SNOW. Mowing a known maintained pasture under snow might fly, but not unimproved ground. Asking for trouble. You learned. 🎄🎄🎄🎄
snow is an insulator. growing up in South Dakota, we had to be carful on frozen lakes. The first snow would keep it from freezing deep enough. Good luck with your mowing.😀
Hey guys interesting to see the mowing in the winter - I need to try that. Here’s an idea: when driving the tractor into ‘unknown territory’ get the bucket on. That way, if things get difficult you can lever your way out with the loader/bucket. I’ve gotten myself out of many a jam in soft ground or deep snow this way. Hoping the snow we have lasts through this next batch of warm and rainy weather we have coming. Happy New Year Lumnas!
Be interesting if the compressor works in warmer weather. They are supposed to be operated above 50+ fahrenheit, so you're really pushing that one 😂 It's harder to compress cold air, might just be overworking and tripping it, especially with an older electric motor.
Hello My friend Al and I guess you know that Wood is much warmer especially in the weather time when the weather is extremely Cold for your Farm animals ! And if you are saying it's your final U-Tub videos I know there will be lot's of very sad 😢 people that I know really likes watching you Al and Gina building your Off grid homestead Farm Life 🧬 and you and your wife Gina are very Hard Working couple and very Blessed !

Al, the tractor wasnt stuck, its momentum had temporarily ceased...😂😅 The stalls/runs are looking good, the livestock will appreciate the effort. Love ya'll ❤️
Al, my wife and I watch every episode and 2 things are driving us nuts. 1. Can you scrape the tape and paint off the 6 window panes in door to the workshop and 2., can you put plate covers on all the outlets in the workshop. Like you, we are a wee bit OCD, and these things are driving us nuts. Thanks
Al, I have been telling my wife the same two things for months. You need to clean out all the electrical fixtures with a 1 inch paint brush and compressed air. Your creating a fire and safety hazard! Please put the covers on and the barn!
I have mentioned this before, as have others. I think Al is keeping track of the number, and when tape on windows and outlet/switch cover comments reach some Al generated random number, then it will get done. 😅

Good morning that new excavator is going to be one of your best assets! I can’t wait to see your composting results! Gina is going to have bumper crops! God bless you all!
Happy New Year! I just wanted you to know that Gina is spelled with and "i". Blessings to you!
Mowing un mowed ground maybe not so smart when you cant see ROCKS under the SNOW.
Mowing a known maintained pasture under snow might fly, but not unimproved ground. Asking for trouble. You learned. 🎄🎄🎄🎄
My condolences for Mr Bostitch Lumnah.
That machine has put in its time, time to shut it down !
Good Morning. Mowing in the winter. Going to have sharpen those blades when spring comes around.
morning Lori, I think a lot of what Al was hitting was stumps from the alders that were cut down.
snow is an insulator. growing up in South Dakota, we had to be carful on frozen lakes. The first snow would keep it from freezing deep enough. Good luck with your mowing.😀
I like the progress on the chicken run. Despite the problems you encountered.
We all lear the hard way Al ,,but it was fun ,,You be careful ,,
Hey guys interesting to see the mowing in the winter - I need to try that.
Wow, you’re really going to town on that barn and it looks really good. I can’t imagine what the big house is gonna look like when you start on it.❤❤❤
Good morning, guys!
Be interesting if the compressor works in warmer weather. They are supposed to be operated above 50+ fahrenheit, so you're really pushing that one 😂 It's harder to compress cold air, might just be overworking and tripping it, especially with an older electric motor.
personally, I suspect condensation and freezing is the issue.
I think he meant the "final goodbye" was for the air compressor. I think he'll still make videos. Have a very Happy New Year!
@@StoneKathryn I believe you are absolutely correct .
It's a good thing you have extra equipment
Good morning, lumnah family. I hope you had a great Christmas. God bless.🎅🎄🕊
Thanks for sharing!! My goodness I didn't know you could mow in the winter time and get anything accomplished with mowing I mean besides spreading snow all over! Congratulations though even though you got it stuck, you got it out without too much mess into the field!!❤❤❤👳♀️❤❤❤
Al, the tractor wasnt stuck, its momentum had temporarily ceased...😂😅 The stalls/runs are looking good, the livestock will appreciate the effort. Love ya'll ❤️
Awesome job on the project. Coming along vary well. Keep up the great work.
Good Morning Lumnah World. Your Winter Wonderland looks cold. If you can see the exhaust pipe Al, your not stuck!
That's a good way to judge being stuck!
Glory that was not good for you for sure. Your a very determined young man love watching
Hope you’re having a Happy Christmas holiday period with your families. Love and hugs sent from your friend in County Durham UK
Recovery videos attract more viewers. You left out the best part.
Good morning Modern Steaders! Back to shorts and t-shirts today.
The chicken coop project is looking awesome you do great carpentry work !!
Nice work on the run area for your critters! Sorry to hear about the air compressor. Can't complain, it lasted a good 20 years. Time for a new one!
Happy New Year, Al and Gina. I am wondering what is next?
Al, my wife and I watch every episode and 2 things are driving us nuts. 1. Can you scrape the tape and paint off the 6 window panes in door to the workshop and 2., can you put plate covers on all the outlets in the workshop. Like you, we are a wee bit OCD, and these things are driving us nuts. Thanks
Funny that you mention the tape covering the door windows. I was just going to write a comment requesting the same. It will let more light in.
Al, I have been telling my wife the same two things for months. You need to clean out all the electrical fixtures with a 1 inch paint brush and compressed air. Your creating a fire and safety hazard! Please put the covers on and the barn!
Lol! This is driving me nuts too!
I'm with you. Switch plates and outlet covers are important. They protect against dirt, dust and corrosion.
I have mentioned this before, as have others. I think Al is keeping track of the number, and when tape on windows and outlet/switch cover comments reach some Al generated random number, then it will get done. 😅
Good morning from Lumberton Texas! Merry Christmas and best of New Year 🎉
Love it 🤩
