What were the changes you made to the shutter speed and frame rate? I’m filming something similar and I can’t get the lines to go away at 1/50 and 24p.
Are you able to describe in more detail how you fixed the wavy lines from the screen? What frame rate and shutter speed and refresh rate did you use on the wall? Other camera settings?
An LED wall fits for virtual production should have the good color gamut, LED wall & camera need to be calibrated, need to be super high refresh rate to get rid of flickering, and it need to be good in grayscale, with HDR, that the led can show the drakest part. LED wall (differen brands) equiped with brompton processor is ideal and the most premium in the market, but prices are high comparing with normal LED wall. 2.X mm pitches are popular for virtual production and prices varied from 2k-8k per square meter, depend on the processing system, specification, stacking system etc. There are cost-effective ways along with expensive ways, you pay what you get.
Awesome demonstration... just a suggestion from a viewer perspective... the background looks a bit detached from the subject because of the depth of field... the image on the backscreen have just one depth of field which makes everything blur with the same focal point... make the backscreen as how a camera will do... little out of focus at the front to out of focus towards back... it will look much realistic and will go with the subject... "Unreal" have that power to do it
This is great, man. I would love to see a "How we set this up" for details on connections, workflow etc. It's the small stuff that makes all the difference! Great job!
Imagine the illusions and practical effect that can be achieved with mixing physical objects into the flat but apparent 3D background. Reach out a hand and it’s all behind it.
Thanks ! It is already becoming an important 'New Tool' for film-making, and getting access / understanding of how it actually works isn't going to be easy for everyone. So 'Thanks' !
Awesome stuff! Innovative! Can you please tell us or message me which panels you used? I'm saving up money to soon make my own one at home! Pretty please!
I think what they are using is 2.8mm, and 2.6mm also a good pitch for the virtual production. With a high refresh rate spec up to 7680Hz, there should be no problem for the flickering problem for the LED wall. The key part for virtual production LED wall should be color gamut, color calibration, HDR, refresh rate.
I've noticed the train scene rendering out of unreal engine already looks graded plus the model textures a bit stylized which leads the immersion to look unbelievable.
Hi, im still curious how to put unreal scene to led wall? i mean, you render it first or no? if no, how can the led wall show the perfect 'rendered' scene ?
this is amazing! Please ask for help, how do I use the Vive control for tracking? I was able to play this entire video, but I was unable to use the Vive controller, is there a tutorial? Could you please share the .cfg file for me to try to adapt with the htc vive. Thank you very much
This is awesome for proof of concept. We are also starting to use our 3mm wall for this work. What was your 3D environment/tracking workflow? This is the only step I’m missing. Seems like some sort of oculus device that interacts with computer software and sends POV to video wall/processor?
I'm curios, what is the pixel pitch of your LED wall? Our church is getting a 2.4mm pixel pitch, I am curious as to what yours is, and how close you can get to it before you start seeing the individual LED pixels... Also, What was the resolution (1080, 4k?) and refresh rate on your wall? Hope to see more videos from you guys!
un abrazo desde Colombia, estuvo excelente el video, super si pudieras explicar el enrutamiento de el equipo desde el tracker hasta la pantalla led, aquí estamos empezando con el tema de paredes led
You are doing great, actually I am from a Chinese LED display company, and I know the manufacturer of the display you are using. We also produce display products with the same configuration as theirs, but I want to learn about virtual shooting A lot of knowledge, such as the operation and setting of the camera and tracking device, how to output the picture of the specified position in the scene to the display screen, because in fact we have used the 3-sided display screen many times to do the XR scene, but They are all done by others, so I also want to know the specific operation process here;
cool tech. the black levels between your foreground actor and the led panels didn't match, so i guess if they were closer the result would be much improved. Also it looks as though there is some sort of grade on the led panel scene which would contribute to this problem. If you are shooting the actor in srgb, make sure the cg scene is set to srgb and the led output is set to srgb, so everything is consistent.

The background always looks out of focus from where it should be at. I hated this in the Batman movie. Its promising tech but I think its being overused now and should be balanced with green screen shots where needed. The set is just too small and you can tell, where as filming on Blue screen can be done outdoors even on a very large open set with blue screen walls put up only where they need them.
Smarmy proof of concept without really discussing the issues. He is playing hide and seek with what he did. Would rather a longer detailed explanation or more video showing what he did.
so i'm thinking here, if you can track the camera position and direction, then you can render the background again from those angles but without the actors then you can just mix both images to create a mask of the actors from the scene just like a green screen. that means your LED wall doesn't really need to be amazing as it doesn't need to be the actual image used in the final scene, because you can always replace it with a better version of the background rendered latter. sure you still want the led wall to create the light and be good enough for the actors and the cropping. but it probably doesn't need to be very good
It’s really too bad you haven’t gone further into this. This was a great video. Would have loved to see more content as was promised.
Amazing video thanks! I have one question, did you create your real engin plate? Or do you buy it somewhere?

Awesome man! What are the LED specs? Would love to try this in our studio but we only have P3 LEDs here
Hey, It is awesome!! How could you solve the moire problem??
Great video. I would like to know the make and model of the screen used to create your wall
Blackmagic HDRI to SDI min converter will give you genlock... it syncs the timecode over HDMI with a Blackmagic capture card. So I've heard

Excellent work!! where did you get the Subway train background virtual set project. is it available online?
UE4 Marketplace - City Subway Train Modular by Dekogon Studios (Free)
Could you do this with short throw projector instead of an expensive LED wall?
It will be hard af
Yeah you definitely can. Some of the light speed shots of the millennium falcon used short throws on rear projection stretch scrims.

This is basically Stage Craft technology. You're using a semblance of the technology used to shoot the Star Wars Disney Plus series.
