Virtual production has been made possible by the incredible convergence of technology. Unreal Engine, NVIDIA RTX, innovative cameras and lenses, and clever people have come together to revolutionize the way we create immersive experiences. The possibilities are endless, and the future of storytelling has never looked brighter!

    That's fantastic!
Unfortunately, my dream didn't come true and I didn't get into the movie industry, but it's amazing to see it evolve and progress! ❤

      Opposite, actually

nope. there are only a teeny tiny bit of studios who actually do this. The available talents to demand ratio is pretty high.

Uh yeah, can they build one of these in LA, please?! We've got some smaller ones, but this, I think, takes the cake! Y'all hiring?! hahah

I love it, but at the same time hate it, yet shows like the Mandalorian were shot against screens, and if done right, it looks amazing.

Well how do you light flat actors as they are 3d ones??

Just my guess here, but they could have used AI to generate normal maps, which would get you really close, or they may have generated a depth pass, then used a displacement shader. A lot of games use normal maps for imposters, and it works really well! (You don't even really need AI though. Lots of workflows for pulling depth info from a color plate)

Why is there no air movement in your shots, all looks too static and flat. Your shots are supposed to be outside.

I love the tech and the ease of making things outside the limits of real locations, but I can always tell it’s virtual production. The shot at 2:34 really showcases that fake depth all of these productions have. It could just be bad lighting. The subject is always darker/more contrasty than the environment they’re supposed to be in.

Maybe it's not the final shot.

Does anyone know of a course to train professionals in VP?

Bad Decisions are doing a free course soon.

I am unsure, but many companies do offer trainings and share their workflows, but most of them aren't for the public. However, it is not totally a secret either. Studios like PXO present in many conferences, Lux Machine even had a closed, invite-only course that you anyone register to.
I suggest you join relevant communities channels and look out for learning opportunities, you might even find cool people that you can get in touch with. The best way is to learn the tools first and then join the studio itself haha. it aint easy, but IG that's how everyone in this industry learns.

If only writers were this creative. I would say their skill are going the other direction. Down the drain.

The tech is very impressive, but it looks very fake and makes the production looks cheap and soap operaish. Physical locations will always be the best.
