    Fresh out of college, they say "sorry, not enough experience". Over 45-50, they say "sorry, too old". What the hell do they want?!, they want someone who's 18-35 years old, but has 40 years of work experience. They want something that doesn't exist.

    Discrimination is still a thing, I can see how people would rather choose to hire someone just because of social compatibility rather than skill. Thereby, the workplace is not about working, but hierarchy.

    Nobody cares. I got pushed out of my career at 57 and never found a job after that. College degree,30 years experience Icu,ed,nicu,ob,trauma,sub acute,trauma rehab.
    Nearly 1 in 4 workers age 45 and older have been subjected to negative comments about their age from supervisors or coworkers.
    About 3 in 5 older workers have seen or experienced age discrimination in the workplace.
    76 percent of these older workers see age discrimination as a hurdle to finding a new job; another report found that more than half of these older workers are prematurely pushed out of longtime jobs and 90 percent of them never earn as much again.

    I haven’t been offered a job in two years. I’ve applied to hundreds, if not a thousand jobs. Some interviews I go to, the person who is supposed to be interviewing me talks about everything under the sun but my qualifications. So I start interviewing myself… I tell them about my qualifications for the position. I’m looking at losing everything. If I didn’t have some savings, I would already be on the street.

My RUclips account is seperate from my Business background, I'm always calm, put on a fake smile, dress up, and act the part but people will not like me based on my appearance being part Native American. Being in my 40s I can read peoples mannerisms when I get discriminated from a job opportunity just like a couple of days ago and it's gotten way worse from the past two decades! I'm posting a comment here not just on age discrimination but informing there is still Racial Discrimination!!!

    I noticed on Indeed that the employer can ask questions. One of them is how many years of Microsoft experience do you have? I am always truthful and my correct answer would negate me from ever getting a job. If I put "30 years" of experience, no way in hell am I getting an interview. There are ways around age discrimination. Yes, most people would lie and state "20 years" of experience but that is not how I roll.

It would be enough to basically live on but I am looking for another job to supplement retirement and I realize that age is an issue. They want young pretty girls even if they are poor workers. I can possibly work for myself after retitement. I feel for all of us older folks. We work hard and have good values but that is not what the world wants. Older white guy here. Yet if you manage to get hired, there is nothing you can do about your age. If that's a problem for them, avoiding it with your wits just to pass the recruitment process won't be enough. There's a high chance they'll get you fired or make you leave by yourself even if you're doing a good job. They'll call the infamous "you're not fitting 100% with the team" lame excuse. Just because they're jealous because you're younger or more experienced than they are. A workplace to avoid altogether, for your own good. Problem is, when you're young, the solution is just to wait it out until you reach the "correct" age range... and do nothing until then. Or find the right company. If you're over 40 however, and cannot apply to an executive position, well you're screwed. Congratulations and welcome to 2020, you can jump off a bridge.

      That's just Anectodal though. Truth is hiring a older person is a liability. You never know if they can get injured, stop working, or not preform as well as the guy around the corner. They aren't volunteering they are going to pay you might as well check if you are going to be able to perform all tasks at 100%. You do know the older you get, the more your body degrades right? Its not just "oh he old eww"

    • @fironfiron8843
      @fironfiron8843 5 лет назад +2

      If they aren't performing the task well, then you can just fire them, end of story. But discriminating based on "you never know" ?
      Job discrimination only leads to inefficiencies , talents being ignored, worker shortage,etc..It is not a good thing.

    • @modernwarrior24
      @modernwarrior24 5 лет назад

      @@fironfiron8843
      "If they weren't performing well on the job just fire them"
      What!? Assuming once they get the job and they don't preform well your solution is simply fire them? Do you even know the point of a interview? A vetting process to weed out those so you DON'T have to waste time firing people who aren't performing well. If you hire someone who doesn't preform well and end up having to fire them. That's bad business because that means you just wasted your time and money and could of hired someone else.
      "You never know?"
      That's why you ask these questions in the first place! But people call it discrimination so we're getting to the point you can't anymore.

    • @fironfiron8843
      @fironfiron8843 5 лет назад +1

      That is still assuming they will be a liability. In job interviews, specially at say google and others, they have questions prepared for everyone to see if they can do the task or not. Many of them already have experience that is very recent
      Do you know what is the leading cause of death in America? Heart attack, diabetes , stroke.. Together they make more than half of all deaths. They aren't even related to aging.
      Meanwhile in say Japan, these type of deaths only make 20%. More people die from Cancer, brain disease,etc there..
      Do you know how many young people are getting these diseases ? How do you know these young people arent going to be liability later on? They have already become liability more like, with high rate of obesity and diabetes! Many young people are also dying earlier than old people now.
      These old people are already experienced with taking care of themselves, they know how to make their own food and others, instead of going to say McDonald.

So you have a lot of problem children from the top down, with favoritism for who is enabled. Work gaps aren't even fair neither, and when you have a job, the bums want multiple interviews.
