As a sonic fan, calling sonic unleashed "a piece of garbage" is a ballsy move.
Tbf, sonic fans call literally anything that includes sonic a masterpiece
I mean, it can have some pretty frustrating or linear levels at times.
I'll never fathom why Unleashed's reception has improved over time nor understand the argument that the daytime stages alone make it a good game. If the good parts of a game constitute no more than 30-40% of actual gameplay time, that's not a good game. A need to validate a game (good or bad) can't will the Werehog levels out of existence and besides, it's very debatable how good the daytime levels are. Inconsistent enemy/obstacle placement and overly punishing level design don't make for the best time.
@@SonicCrakpot there's actually many different opinions about the game, but more than half of them are positive.
I, myself do not enjoy sonic unleashed. I don't like chip's voice or design. Not a fan of the human characters just being there.
The werehog levels suck ass. But the normal levels were okay.
But like you said, there are more werehog levels in the game. And if the gimmick of the game is the main downside, then I think that automatically makes it a bad game compared to the other sonic games.
I mostly don't like unleashed because I'm more of a classic sonic guy. But honestly, I understand why people would defend it. There are many beat em up games that play similarly to unleashed's werehog levels.
Ngl, the narrator of the original video is being so overdramatic and it starts to feel pretty annoying. They're talking about these IGN reviews like the sins of the devil
Yeah bro needs to chill a little bit, and some of his takes are just wrong too wich makes it even funnier😂
Yeah based off his tone alone I’ve already called it quits 3 minutes in, not even Jesus Christ himself could get me to sit through that
Lemme guess; you're a giant Last Of Us II/Naughty Dog fanboy .
@@MrTrueCaller619 you don’t need to have a contrasting opinion on some game to realize how obnoxious this guy is lmfao
@@MrTrueCaller619 you guessed wrong. Don't have strong feelings on the franchise. Surprised you didn't try the IGN shill card instead.
As someone who played the original Ruby/Sapphire when I was a kid, I 100% agree with the water comment. 20 years later, I vividly remember the frustration surfing everywhere and constantly getting stopped by tentacools. It was awful
Do you know what a repel is and also you get surf after the 5th gym out of 8 and there isn't much surfing until after the 7th gym which you can ignore the random encounters using repel might I add if you're saying it's annoying encountering tentacools you clearly haven't played much unless you use repel on every other area except the sea and pacifidlog is an optional area.
@@BRUHOFFICIAL69 Being forced to use repel constantly while surfing or having to run into a tentacool every 5 spaces is just bad game design, especially for a kids game. Having to use an item to make entire sections of the game not annoying to get through just isn't fun because its either costing you your time in real life or money in the game.
That type of criticism is completely valid.
Many are aware at how annoying the encounter rate is in something confined like Mt.Moon, however having a similar rate in every single water tile in the game in Hoenn, the most water filled region, is overly obnoxious. In every game it would be very annoying, but having there specifically where using Surf is most necessary to traverse it is bad.
This is mostly a criticism for the originals as I haven't played the remakes
@Trez2332 a bigger issue is the encounter rate. Water isn't an issue itself. Its the fact that the game has terrible encounter rates. All pokemon games suffer from this cause no one wants to see a 10 second cutscene every 5 tiles. Too much water is just a silly complaint. Especially when you consider they're professional reviewers, they probably should give actual detailed criticisms rather than "too much water me no like"
@@Unknownz000 I actually disagree as Water tiles can be a nuissance to go through for more than just encounters.
There is water travel speed, which is slower than land travel speed, and general annoyances like having to see the cutscene of using surf every time. Plus generally water is less visibly interesting than everything else
I was hoping that he was gonna point out how shit the guy was playing sonic unleashed. He just spams the boost button when he even uses it, like you're supposed to hold it. Also, it is peak fiction.
BO3 is still an amazing COD game over the years I still play it 😂
Same I have it downloaded on my series S with chronicles just in case I ever fancy playing zombies.
Yeah the narrator kinda cringe
I hated that level where you have to defend a point and kill a bunch of robots that level was so boring i hate defend the point missions in videogames they are so boring
Other than the story being atrocious, multiplayer I absolutely agree with
@@dubvcronix6584 zombies was the only thing cool of bo3 i couldnt make it pass round 8
People forget IGN has more than one guy doing the reviews lol
That doesnt change the fact that none of them can play the game correctly
And most of them are shit at their jobs.
Exactly why they suck .
I like em for quick overviews of what a game has to offer. The scores never matters to me.
@@MrTrueCaller619It’s stupid to give mediocre AAA games high scores, but at the same time it makes no sense to rag on someone for giving Days Gone a 6 when some other separate rando give Assassin’s Creed a 9.
American: call of duty

ok
I laugh at how IGN tried to BS their way with reviewing Ace Combat 7 and the developers outed them as having played on the easiest settings. Also Black Ops 3 was stupid.
BO3 had a more balanced multiplayer than the previous black ops games, and the zombies mode was incredible, with maps like der eisedrache, zetsubou, shadows of evil, and the addition of zombies chronicles, made it extremely fun, not to mention the steam workshop compatibility, which is why BO3 zombies is still being played to this day
@@moussamiller4812 zombies and multiplayer are not enough for me to attract my attention. Besides I don’t care for zombies mode regardless. Also I personally prioritize the single player before I do multiplayer, and the single player story for Blops3 was at most gobbledygook.

agreed. I liked bo3 but there were definitely things about it that were bad.
I played COD mostly for the zombies, so BO3 is genuinely my favorite, had alot of the best maps ever produced for the mode.
Yeah tbh BO3 isn't that good. But hey, at least the zombies is goated lol
That guy's video really makes me look at IGN in a more positive light and exposes the gaming community's problem with mob mentality.
@kevalyarathore223a lot of his complaints are how one got a good score while another got a bad one. Different reviewers, different games. Some of the scores are pretty fair too
@kevalyarathore223you are insane
@@berkansahin2390The duality of the gaming community. They never cease to amaze me. 😅
God I hate the narrator, I physically recoiled at some of the jokes
I will back him up on Pokémon as a huge Pokémon fan. The majority of fans in the community loved gen 3 and the remakes. A lot of us consider it the holy grail.
for the first one charlie if it wasn't perfect or a masterpiece then surely there would be a con. Also if you looked at what they rated uncharted they rated it basically the same except it actually has a con.
A conless game is not a perfect game
@kevalyarathore223Something that doesnt have cons but doesnt excel in everything it does can get a lower score than 10. A great example would be Nier Automata. Another example would be a game with many cons but which still was a great game like DS2. This goes for everything like movies, books, foods, etc.
@kevalyarathore223 your whole existence is a con
Gaming news companies like IGN really need to have various specialist reviewers. People who specialize in specific genres, and split their reviews up into different categories based on genre. Lumping all the reviews into one category of game reviews and having random journalists who may particularly like one type of game or particularly dislike another type is going to lead to huge inconsistencies in reviews. If you had people who prefer a specific type of game youd probably have more consistency in grading among games of that same genre. You probably wouldn't run into the issue of COD receiving a 9.2 and DOOM receiving a 7. Ideally reviewers and consumers should be comparing games based on how they stack up with games of the same genre. Someone who really likes COD style shooters isn't going to like something like Sonic as much for example. Same goes the other way around. Comparing these games on the same scale makes no sense.
How long did it take you to notice this wasn’t a Charlie video
Okay okay, 7.8 for ORAS is 100% fair and something I’d give it myself objectively even though it’s one of my favorite games. “Too many HMs” is fair, but I feel like the wording should be “There are HMs” since they’ve only been a hindrance and have been fixed since gen 7 with a reasonable option. The “Too much water” con though gives me a massive headache because, first of all, the region it’s based off of the southern area of Japan called Kyushu where there are well over a DOZEN islands off of the mainland, and second, they realized how much water’s there and made a DIVE HM to make people not be bored exploring the waters and get deep sea inspired Pokémon, and even made it as a way for players to find hidden entrances for locations.
This video feels so old-school
I don't actually know how disliked the original dead cells review was, but i do remember that the person on ign that wrote it COPIED a review from a small channel. Thank god that review was deleted and the dude was fired
I dont see how anyone trusts ign anymore.
The only types of game reviews I look at anymore is just to check if the game has bugs and that kind of stuff , it's the same with movie reviews the bigger platforms like RUclips have gotten the less the mainstream names matter and have to "sell out" more and more.

I'm confused, isn't a 7+/10 a really good score for a game? If I give a game a 7 /10, it means I really enjoyed it, why are people acting like they are giving 3/10s for the entire list?
Americans are completely unable to separate any rating system that works out of 10 because they grew up in a school system where a 7/10 is a bad score. anything lower than a 6/10 is failing. So people don't use the whole scale because they view it as a grade instead of a rating

thier ranking system is wrong in all ways.
Dunkey explained this in one of his videos.
if you are ranking something you should work on a curve system.
Bo3 is literally my most played game of all time, the amount of content in the game makes it a 10/10 alone and you could literally argue that it's better than bo2, bo1, or mw2. It had the worst cod campaign of all time and even with that being said I still would give the game a 10 because of the amount of high quality content. I have 1100 hours in zombies alone.
Bo2 zombies was better as far as regular content but bo3 is blowing up just because of all the fan made zombie maps and mods.
The movement in zombies was superb. I mean look at the map community, they all use bo3
As a bo3 fan, wtf are you on about? The campaign was the problem that this game faced. Yes don't get me wrong the multiplayer is good and the zombies is outstanding. But you can't tell me there's a single point in the game where it even closely resembles "Black Ops". They just pasted that title there. It has no relation to the first 2 Bo games or waw. They didn't bother changing the game title to something else instead of "Black Ops 3". But you know Activision, that's their best way to make 💲. The story is god awful as well. I loved bo3 but objectively speaking, its at least an 8, 10 is way too high, there are very less games in COD series that deserve a 10. you know, Bo2 for example.
Disconnect yourself from the internet please awful take

Honestly, Death Stranding is 100% a 6.8/10. It is such an average game that the word "average" is not enough to desribe how average it is.
Obv hasn’t played Scarlett and Violet. Tho I am a filthy SwSh apologist
I actually ended up loving Days Gone. But I ended up playing it almost 2 years after release
What is the narrators gripe with Black Ops 3? Is he just "CoD bad!"? Black Ops 3 is a fantastic game with the zombies mode being the best the series has to offer. People to this day still play Bo3 zombies and the PC custom zombies community is still alive and well.
I feel like the title of worst game reviews goes to quantumtv
Why is Charlie worried about spoiling a literally 2 year old game.. if people wanted to play it then they would have played it man
No Madden or Fifa on the list? HOW?!
The narrator is more annoying than IGN
The list is a pretty bad one. There are so many more blunders that they could have chosen from.
Bo3 I thought was pretty decent.
bro saying team AQUA uses too many water types? Its called AQUA for a fucking reason of course they would use a lot of water types.
I read the reviews on Google for last of us 2, it convinced me that a lot of people that gave it a 0 (which is ridiculous) didn't play the game. I read the reviews and the top two reviews were both 0/10, both very long reviews with a lot of words and both exactly the same, word for word, from two different people. They had copy and pasted someone else's opinion, lazy and pointless and made me completely lose respect for gaming scores and reviews

Meh. I never really got into the IGN hate.
Usually when i see a stupid review, i just laugh and move on because they're not the only reviewers I've seen with trash takes on some games, but I have noticed some of the criticism for their reviews boil down to different people reviewing different games like people comparing the cod review to the pokemon reviews which are done by completely different people. Or as Charlie mentioned fanboys just getting angry over their favorite game not being graded higher like with Death Stranding which people are still split on. Definately true for the Last of Us. I also feel like some of their reviewers like the one reviewing Spongebob does not know how to properly talk about some of the games.

8out of 10 is liking it
if the story was in the order charlie suggested then the themes of the game would make no sense. the player is SUPPOSED to hate abby when you start playing as her. she killed your favorite character, the devs know this, they want you to resent her and groan when you realize you'll be spending a lot of time playing as her. But as her story goes on, you begin to understand and sympathize with her. The point is to try and make you at least understand her, to look past the fact that she killed your favorite character, and see that she wasnt in the wrong for doing what she did. Just like how joel wasnt in the wrong for saving ellie, or how ellie wasnt in the wrong for seeking vengence.
and about the flashbacks; them being at the start wouldnt make any sense.
the flashbacks in the game are mesnt to show that ellie is being driven by guilt. Shes feels an insane amount guilt because of the fact that she resented Joel in the final years she had left with him. Guilt is what drives her revenge, throughout the game it becomes clear that ellie is only pursuing Abby because shes projecting her feelings of guilt onto her.
and as for the ending, Ellie sparing Abby was symbolic of her forgiving herself and moving on.
its up for debate if those themes and storytelling is good or not, but people need to stop misunderstanding the game and its themes as "revenge bad" because theres a lot more to it than that imo.

It's unfortunate Charlie's comments on pokemon arceus have aged like milk they completely regressed with scarlet and violet
majority people like scarlet and violet it sells like crazy
I wouldn't call it regressed.
Both came out in the same year, there was never a reason to assume the success of one would impact the other that much.
They clearly reused some ideas and managed to put them in SV (and even then that likely happened before Arceus came out), but yeah. Too soon to call it regression.
Actually, seeing as bad as SV ended up being from a gameplay prospective, it might motivate important changes.
IF you think about it, the fact that Arceus not only changed the formula, but also revolutionized the combat system whilst the main team managed to push out the mess that SV was the contrast is all the more evident
@@nuredingeziqi679I would argue that SV were great in terms of story and gameplay, but not in performance and graphical design. The game suffered hard from the glitches it had and still has.
