As an O's fan, I'm hoping they sign or trade for a top of the rotation starter still, but I am stoked they signed Sugano (might want to correct your graphic to say starter not closer). They could use some more offensive power as well.
They are better now in a short series. They have a closer and now can use weaver in the 8th. They help Judge by moving him to Right Field and he’s obviously a better defender than Soto. The added another number 1 so now in a short series you have a Cole, Fried combo. It’s also additional by subtraction with Rizzo. Seemed like a nice guy but he was done. I’d love to see Arenado get a shot at 3rd. Great defense for sure and maybe a resurgence. I think you need to give Rice a shot at first. Can’t pay every player 20 million and you need some starters and better deals. If the Yanks can make the playoffs then I think they are a tougher team.
As a non Yankee fan, their team will be better once they sign whoever at first base, whether that's Walker, Glodschmidt, Santana. Pitching is easily better. Defense definitely better. Offense probably won't be as good, but I think has the possibility to have a deeper lineup and not so dependent on Judge and Soto. I'm a Dodger fan, and let's say they sign any of the first baseman I listed - I'd have been more scared of this team than the team we beat in October. Still think last year's Dodgers beat this team, but it at least goes 6 and maybe 7.
Nice to hear from a rational dodger fan. The Game 6 that never was was going to be what defined the series. Assuming Judge doesn’t drop an easy fly I think it’s fair to say if dodgers lose game 6 they probably lose the series. But I have a hard time believing they’d lose game 6. They had the huge pitching advantage game 6. Game 7 advantage would’ve swung back to the NYY.
Who's gonna bat behind Soto on Mets? Soto is entering his prime and should have his best 3 to 5 years ahead of him... but hitting in front of Judge HAD to help his numbers last yr.

He does not have overwhelming velo (or even "whelming" velo), and has an annoying habit of giving up hits in the 1st inning, but always seems to escape with only a run or two on the board; then he shuts teams down and chews up innings. He's an old-school Japanese pitcher, which means 120 pitches per outing is nothing to him. No idea how it will turn out in the MLB, but that's always been his dream. Best case would be peak-level 3 or 4 starter; worst case, he can fill innings competently. p.s., tell your NYC crew that there ain't no "h" in his last name. "Shoegano"?!? Jake has a college degree, dios mio! 😅
He’s not going to be able to flirt with danger often & get away with it as often in the mlb. He’ll probably have a great 1st two months of the season but once the league adjusts he’s going to get lit up
Maybe. Definitely not convinced. They still have an average to below average shortstop, their big free agent signing is as injury prone as one can really be, an old as heck strikeout merchant in Stanton, an ACE coming off of injury and so on.
If Stanton wasn’t on the team clogging DH they’d 1000% be better having Soto. But considering Juan won’t DH yet & Hal won’t spend crazy over the tax means there’s no way to keep Soto and not penny pinch in multiple spots
It’s important to remember the NYY got bottom 10 production from FOUR positions in 24. LF, 3rd, 1st, SS. If they can get league average or better from 3 of those 4 spots their offense will score as many runs as last year’s team.
@ yes the almighty if, one of the most dangerous words in language haha. But it’s not a huge if. DJ, Verdugo, & Volpe were damn near historically bad offensively (Verdugo actually was at ground outs).

L9ve that take in the beginning of the video. They are more well rounded but not necessarily better. Soto was amazing for the yanks. But I do like the moves and so far going the way I hoped post soto
No way the Rays trade Yandy or BLowe to the Yankees 😂. Why don’t you throw in Junior Caminero too while you’re at it. They also have no farm other than Dominguez to offer.
Unlikely? Yes. No chance? I don’t agree with that. Also, Yandy and B Lowe wouldn’t fetch some insane package that the Yankees couldn’t possibly put together. They have enough depth in the system to put together enough value to match that of those two.
Not true at all … Yaknees have Medina a top arm, Jones a top outfielder and at least 2 or 3 other top SS’s that people will hear about soon enough …. Do the research
Except they both have 2 years of control and are both on bargain contracts, even for the Rays. Rays will likely and rightfully ask for top-50 ish prospects in a trade for both of them, and that’s without considering the in-division tax the Yankees will likely have to pay. And no, Spencer Jones does not fit that bill considering he struck out nearly 40% of the time at Double A last year.
You being ignorant of the Yankees prospects doesn't mean they don't have them. Christ, why can't people take 10 seconds to look shit up before opening their dumbass mouth?
Teams aren't fans. They don't base their opinion of prospects on singular stats from one season. They look at a players tools, they look at their progression. In short, they're smarter than fans.
28:50 Phillips if he’s healthy, then treinen, then brazier or Hudson because of experience. The other thing the dodgers do is bring in veteran bullpen guys who have experience closing in case of injuries. The dodgers injuries were bad, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t have confidence in the guys that were healthy, whoever they may be. They got kopech not to be the closer, but they’d like to think he can close if they need him to. It’s all about setting your ego aside with the dodgers and doing your best when your number gets called
Cubs fans are determined to be unhappy no matter what. At the end of the season I feel like everyone I know was praying for Bellinger to opt out, and now that the Cubs get out of the contract only paying $5 mil, everyone is unhappy. The only reason Cubs fans should be unhappy with this deal is if they don't spend some of that money that they freed up on pitching talent. The Bellinger deal was an overspend by the Cubs last season, and it only would have been a good deal if Bellinger played at the same level as the season before and the team ended up being competitive. Neither of those things were true, so cut bait and rework the roster.
Sugano was here a few years back when he was in the middle of his prime but couldn't reach a deal with any team and he returned to Japan as a result. His desire to come to America was preexisting obviously.
Watching Yankee haters constantly think about ,breathe, talk, and consume their daily lives on the Yankees is even more exhausting Sad way to go through life, root and worry about your team but Nah you bums would rather spend every second of your lives worrying about the Yankees than rooting for your own team.
Cody Bellenger will play at the LF position and he gives you added value being able to switch to cover 1st base whenever the situation may call for it whatever the reason for it might be. This being said, on the topic of 1st base I think Carlos Santana or Luis Arreaz would be nice. When you consider Soto's OBP, keep in mind that he had a career season in some degree or another due to the valuable fact that he was able to get a genuine amount of offensive stat boost from the legit looming hitting threat that was coming up to bat after him in the lineup. He's not going to get that much benefit of the similar sort in his at-bats with the Mets clearly. This doesn't mean that his numbers will drop off dramatically but I think they will go dowtn a little bit and this aspect should be taken into account when talking about replacing his offense. Marcus Semian experienced a similar situation in his season with the Blue Jays due to his placement in the lineup. His numbers in Texas have come down a bit as a result.
People seem to be thinking about this all wrong. Cody is not replacing Soto. He is just one player who, when added to a few others, will be replacing Soto, Verdugo, Gleyber and Rizzo. Replacing Soto in a one to one is impossible. But, like Beane said, we can replace him in the aggregate. They have Belli, lets say, just as an example, they add Walker and Bregman and Dominguez takes the 4th spot. I would argue that Bellinger, Walker, Bregman and Dominguez are overall better than Soto, Rizzo, Gleyber and Verdugo. And before anyone says it... I'm not suggesting the Yankees will get Walker and Bregman. I'm just using them as an easy example.
34:14 Trev, my guy, you really buy those kinds of PR spins? Yeah he chose the O’s because of how they talked pitching. Give me a break. Money & opportunity is why he signed there. Sure the conversation was great tho 🤙🏻
If the Yankees get Christian Walker and another lefty bat I would say overall they are. Hurts to lose Soto but it at least allowed Cashman to actually fill holes instead of overpaying Soto and rolling the dice on several important positions.
Weird how the Yankees "ruin baseball" yet they get the best ratings and bring the most money into the league. Kind of a weird way to ruin baseball.isn't it?.
The yankees make the most money in revenue and use that money to build a team. What is wrong with that? Why do you think that is the same as having owners dip into the money they make outside of baseball to build a team and then defer money so that what they are actually spending is not put on the books? What is wrong with you that you can't see the difference?
In a perfect baseball world I would keep Bellinger. Yes, it was a money dumb/log jam (for pitching), but honestly, I think this was a fair trade. Hoping Matt Shaw can hang at 3rd. Bellinger should thrive in Yankee Stadium.

Juan Soto is a difference maker unlike any other individual player not named Judge or Ohtani. He's irreplacable in any 1 for 1. BUT Yanks getting Belli, Max, AND D Train for 4.5 mil less than Juan is getting by himself is absurd. An amazing come up. Now fix 1st base
I hear ya but Soto isnt 1 of 1 not for 800 million he is only a 2 tool player, one of one is judge and othani that's about it, maybe a Betts, a healthy Acuna, maybe a Tucker with the cubs, I take all those guys over Soto anyday.
As a long time Cubs fan I'm not pissed off with what they are doing. I agree that they should spend the extra Belli $ for a couple of other players. When folks who aren't Cubs fans get flared up and bitch about ownership I roll my eyes, sigh, & think 'this is what the Internet [not just sports] is about - spark up negative comments, hope for the clicks, & carry on daily'.
As a Cubs fan I'm not pissed in the slightest. Because once we got Tucker we had five fucking outfielders who deserve to be everyday starters and can be lmao. Now we have four. Still kind of an issue. I **am** pissed they generally don't spend money and they easily could, though. Has nothing to do with Bellinger. Most of the fanbases of this entire game should be pissed at their owners.
Most of 2024 if the top of the lineup didn’t get it done Yankee fans were counting outs until the top came up again. A more balanced lineup was an absolute necessity otherwise they would’ve been counting on career years again + Stanton staying healthy again.
Cub fan who’s definitely not pissed about trading their 7th best position player who had no spot on the roster in order to reallocate money elsewhere to better optimize the roster.
It's blown my mind for years that the Cubs seem to get a free pass from media with this “Lovable losers” crap. They are a major market and fans come to see that stadium no matter how bad the team on the field is, they should never be holding back on paying players to field a very competitive team every year.
Why is the idea to put Ha-Seong Kim at 2B while leaving Jazz at 3B? Kim can play 3B better than Jazz, and Jazz can play 2B better than he can play 3B. Seems like Kim at 3B and Jazz at 2B would be the way to go.
@JM Baseball Let's not be absurd, gentlemen. The Yankees aren't remotely better off considering the talent they traded away and the salary commitments they made: Add up Bellinger, Fried, and Williams for 2024. It sums to 7.1 WAR. (Use whatever form of valuation you want.) But they dealt away Cortes and Poteet in the process, worth 3.5 WAR in 2024. So they've only added 3.6 WAR for 2025 but meanwhile they added the 2025 salaries of Bellinger, Fried, and Williams. That's $65m. The Yankees have improved by 3.6 WAR for $65 million after losing Soto, who put up 7.9 WAR in 2024, or more than twice what the Yankees have added thus far. The numbers work very well since the 2024 on-field value of each of the above lines up well with their 2025 projections. Cashman's simply not very good at his job. Bellinger has had all of one year, just one, better than the 2.2 WAR he put up last season going all the way back to 2019, a geological epoch in baseball years. In Bellinger the Yankees could easily be stuck for $52.5m for a player barely worth a lineup slot in 2025-2026. Cashman also dealt away however you value useful spare part Poteet for his add'l years of control, 2026 through 2028. That value surely cancels out the modest salaries for Cortes and Poteet the Yankees no longer have to pay in 2025. $65 million for a 3.6 WAR improvement? That's abysmal work. Cashman's critics are not wrong.
They probably didn't because they aren't morons. Only idiot fans look.at total.postseason numbers like batting average and determine a player is bad in the playoffs. Go look at his stats series by series, year by year. Like just about 100% of players with a lot of playoff experience, it is a mixed mag. Some series he was bad, some.he was ok, some.he was MVL caliber.
Hes a good player but idk whats with Plouffes hard on for Kim. He's essentially Isiah Kiner Fallafa. At that point save the money and let Oswaldo play 2b
The rest of the AL teams outside of NY should be absolutely embarrassed right now. Like Rose said, it's like they're not even trying. AL is a total joke currently.
Yankees need a true leadoff hitter!!! Kim would be an incredible fit... he sees a ton of pitches.. but he strikes out a ton. He has speed.. he's gonna command more than 8M per yr tho. Yanks are running out of money.
I never felt like cody fit the cubs. The vibe of his contract was always im there to get back to being a healthy and move on. Doesnt seemed to have worked
I'm not a Cubs fan, so I don't watch him all the time. I also thought he didn't play as much looking up his numbers, avg like 3 war over 130 games that is good. Paying like 55 mill for those 2 years, though idk

palmer is SOOOOO CUTE 😭😭😭
not sure Trev but Dodgers look really interested in Tanner Scott
Mike Rogers 😂.....anyone catch that?!?
Haseung Kim for 2nd is a great idea by T
As a long time Cubs fan I'm not pissed off with what they are doing. I agree that they should spend the extra Belli $ for a couple of other players. When folks who aren't Cubs fans get flared up and bitch about ownership I roll my eyes, sigh, & think 'this is what the Internet [not just sports] is about - spark up negative comments, hope for the clicks, & carry on daily'.
All i know is that Bellinger would've caught the ball Judge dropped and probably would've caught the Teoscar hit that tied the game.
And judge would’ve made multiple plays that Soto didn’t that cost runs
As a Cubs fan I'm not pissed in the slightest. Because once we got Tucker we had five fucking outfielders who deserve to be everyday starters and can be lmao. Now we have four. Still kind of an issue. I **am** pissed they generally don't spend money and they easily could, though. Has nothing to do with Bellinger. Most of the fanbases of this entire game should be pissed at their owners.
36:45 same trev lol. That look lol
Dodgers are looking for a closer….they still want to play the match up game for the most part but do actually want a 9th inning guy.
Beating a dead horse here but someone from production might want to update the Sugano graphic to match that he’s a starting pitcher
Easily better than last year. We replaced Holmes with Williams and Stroman with Fried.
Yankees should get Nathaniel Lowe at 1b, had a .361 obp in 24
It's blown my mind for years that the Cubs seem to get a free pass from media with this “Lovable losers” crap. They are a major market and fans come to see that stadium no matter how bad the team on the field is, they should never be holding back on paying players to field a very competitive team every year.
I would tell myself that too if we lost like that 😂
Why is the idea to put Ha-Seong Kim at 2B while leaving Jazz at 3B? Kim can play 3B better than Jazz, and Jazz can play 2B better than he can play 3B. Seems like Kim at 3B and Jazz at 2B would be the way to go.
As a Cubs fan I’m unhappy about this move
So you wanted to get rid of who then? Happ, Suzuki, Tucker or Armstrong? Because you had 5 outfielders and Cody was the highest paid.
i want a little camera in the corner so we can watch palmer
Cashman's critics are not wrong.
y'all should've talked about bellinger's horrible post season numbers
They probably didn't because they aren't morons. Only idiot fans look.at total.postseason numbers like batting average and determine a player is bad in the playoffs. Go look at his stats series by series, year by year. Like just about 100% of players with a lot of playoff experience, it is a mixed mag. Some series he was bad, some.he was ok, some.he was MVL caliber.
@@snerdterguson i did, he's ass. luckily in the he won't be the worst post season hitter on the yanks. all rise
Juan Soto has impact cause Aaron judge was protecting him in the lineup, let’s see who protects him in Queens
I came here for baseball. I stayed because of puppy 🐶
Hes a good player but idk whats with Plouffes hard on for Kim. He's essentially Isiah Kiner Fallafa. At that point save the money and let Oswaldo play 2b
Yes!
Yanks would sign Tucker for 10 years 400 right now. No doubt in my mind.
HI PALMER
Better for the regular season? Maybe, maybe not.
Better for the playoffs? 100%
The rest of the AL teams outside of NY should be absolutely embarrassed right now. Like Rose said, it's like they're not even trying. AL is a total joke currently.
OMG PLOUFFE’S PUP
Yes
Schwarber got non-tendered prior to 2021 Rose. Definitely not a walk, the Cubs bailed off of him.
Yankees need a true leadoff hitter!!! Kim would be an incredible fit... he sees a ton of pitches.. but he strikes out a ton. He has speed.. he's gonna command more than 8M per yr tho. Yanks are running out of money.
NYY? No way
Cute pup!
I would absolutely watch a call in sex/dating/marriage advice show with Rosey, Plouffe, and Jake lol
I never felt like cody fit the cubs. The vibe of his contract was always im there to get back to being a healthy and move on. Doesnt seemed to have worked
He played 2 years, averaged .286 with 20+ HR and about 90 RBI.
If that's not working, I will take failure any day.
I'm not a Cubs fan, so I don't watch him all the time. I also thought he didn't play as much looking up his numbers, avg like 3 war over 130 games that is good. Paying like 55 mill for those 2 years, though idk
