Love this guy. Love the band. BEN. RIC. GREG. ELLIOT. DAVID,. and not in that order.....THE CARS. 5 guys combined make one whole awesome legendary band. Immortal on film and recordings forever. Ben Orr passed way too soon. Leaving behind his greatest legacy: his one and only child, BENJAMIN ORR JR. Ric passed unexpectedly, and suddenly... Proving not so great regarding his slap in the face regarding Paulina and his son's. ...that was really pretty heinous actually, but none the less, the total lady that she is and has always been, she shines. What a great example THAT woman has always been, and to this day is. Top notch. None the less THE CARS: FOREVER. GREAT TALENT. GREAT HUMAN BEINGS. TALENT GALORE.
Nexterday is a great album. I see it as being about overcoming other people's problems, valuing what's important and real, and finding meaning in loss.
The Cars has always been my favorite group. RIP Ric, your music was a staple in my life while growing up. I wasn't a fan of Nexterday, LOVE This Side of Paradise though.
Ric Ocasek Siempre Te Voy A Recordar!! Como Uno De Mis Grandes Ídolos Por Siempre y Para Siempre !! Por Toda El Resto De Mi Vida!! Estoy Bien Dolido Por Tu Muerte Saludos
Rick could be very be accomodating, though I've heard some say he was difficult at times. He sounds like most of us! I'm grateful for his music and songwriting. The Cars were technically put together by Rick, though all members contributed immensley to their sound. I'm 64 now and never really got into The Cars in the late 70's & 80's. Now, I truly appreciate that they were definitely NOT just another band! I love many of their songs. RIP Ben Orr and now Ric Ocasek 🙏🌟🎸
I wonder if Ric is sick of hearing about that _Fast Times at Ridgemont High_ scene. But then, it made him a fair amount of extra money, for a song that was already on their own platinum album.
Hey FB friend! I notice those things too . . . "Under the cold and darkly sky" turns up in both "Up and Down" _Panorama_ and "Take a Walk" from _Beatitude_ . . . There's been other instances, I think.
@@donnasweetpurplejune6335 NEXTERDAY took me until THIS year to really embrace and Bottom Dollar was my gateway in the lyric. I love this piece Tracey - always love your channel.
well, he was separated in 2017 from his wife and they were living separately as well (in 2018,during hall of fame induction, his wife and their 2 children were there for him, but they were split up and he was living on his own)....they were going through a divorce but wasn't final when he passed on 9/15/19..... his wife at the time of separation said it was hard being in a marriage by herself.... they were married for 28 yrs, though before they separated.
-9:38. Ric is 61 here and has a 4 year old son so he had him at age 57? I didn’t know why but that sounds kind of weird, I mean imagine having a baby at age 57. /js.
seemed like a good dude ... the music underneath the interview is insulting tho ... not every gap of silence needs to be filled with content ... its just goofy ... also trunk takes his “job” way too seriously ... just sayin
What a sweet, sexy , talented genius he was. Glad I shared the planet the same time as him.
Check out Milkwood.... Rick and Ben 1969...Good stuff
He passed away last year Sept. 19th
Sexy?
RIP Ric, loved your songwriting style, was all your own.
😎🤘😥
Great Interview! He was so smart, soft spoken and clever! Very Cool, Laconic and Iconic! He was one of a kind! RIP Ric and Ben
It's Heartbreak for me because I grew up with both Ric Ocasek and Eddie Money back in the day and may God rest both these guys Souls
Song writing genius. Definitely one of my favorites.
Auwwwh Ric, this one hurt, but thank you for making the world a little sweeter with your amazing music. Love you brotha.
Can't believe he was 61 years old when filming this clip in the VH1 studios. He looks great for his age . Ric, God bless your soul.
Always a very gangly dude, though. If he refused to let his music be played at a Trump rally, would he be branded a pencil neck like Schiff?
He'd be 80 if he were still with us.

yes i could enjoy more about ricky ocasek and his videos and his live concerts
Nexterday is a great album. I see it as being about overcoming other people's problems, valuing what's important and real, and finding meaning in loss.
In 2005 he didn't rule out a Cars reunion and the touring as we seen NEXTERDAY it was very select. Love this Tracey - thank you!

Cool head Ric. Nexterday is a great album, and as it turns out, The Cars Unlocked is AWESOME!
Thanks for the heads-up!
Thanks for tending the Light
At the end of the tunnel

Genius. It's true
Thank you for calling Eddie about this and the repost!
Benjamin Orr...
Well, he wasn't much without that awesome band, Orr, Robinson, Easton, and Hawkes. With music like that it doesnt matter what the lyrics are.
Rock in Peace
RIP Ric.
Rip 👁️✌️⭐💪🌹🇺🇸
R.O. 🎸☦️🕊️
Interesting; his comments toward the end.
It's always Nexterday
When you're multidimensional ✌🌈🌅
Wow!

I know I'm sick of hearing about it... LOL I wonder, too, if he's tired of people mispronouncing his last name. Probably immune by now, I guess.
Paulina says it's "O-kay-sek" or "O-kah-sek". So there.
OMG Ric is gone. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
😎🤘😥🙏🎶
SILVER!!!!

Interesting... lyrics from "You Can't Hold On Too Long" from the Candy-O album show up in "Bottom Dollar."

“pushin and a poppin, you don’t get enough” ❤❤❤
Elliott Easton and Greg Hawkes did do a version of the Cars called New Cars not long after this interview with Todd Rundgren on lead vocals
I'm wonder if Rick knows how much he contributed to rock music.late 70s and 80s thru 90s you turn a radio it was playing the cars music.
Ric was the quirky Beatle. (Or could have been.)
is that the Flex Seal guy?
Holy shit, how tall is Eddie Trunk? :-0
It's Ric OcAsek OcAsek like APPLE pie NOT Ocaysek! he said it himself in a interview.
Ric Ocasek is a family man because he has children&a wife

RIc Ocasek was a contestant on the September 15, 2019 episode of Celebrity Bucket Kickers.

I am a big Cars fan and love Rick's music - the hook on this one though sounds like "Love is All around"
