So I’m much more of a rhythm type guitarist and was totally intimidated to take a shot at this song. I literally was shocked that I learned it in one night by watching your video. So thanks brother! Really into bluegrass as of just late and will probably play this one until the bury me. Thanks again. Much appreciated

I played this to my father hes spanish and taught me everything i know about guitar. Thanks man
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I’m a primarily metal guitarist, so this entire style of playing is completely alien to me, but your video really helped me to get this down shockingly fast. Thanks man!
Glad I could help!
Thanks for this! That intro lick really paves the way for folks to work out the solos! /subbed.
Thanks for watching and commenting and subscribing! More to come
I honestly have seen many videos and had a hard time with how their fingers were placed. This by far is the best I have seen. There is not a lot of dm this and am that with a this and that. People that watch this are not looking for the music sheet version they want to see the physical movements Your camera shot was close you went over it many times without a lot of fancy note talk Awesome in the favorites you go and subscription with a thumbs way up lol ty again
Thanks so much D Collier. I really appreciate it and am so glad it helped! I'm also glad I decided to post this on that day. It was on a whim. I hope you watch the video I posted last night about the parts of the lead break in dust in a baggie. Thanks!
Brilliant tutorial mate. We don’t have music like this in England 🏴 so thanks for uploading 👏🏻

Dude this music comes from the Scott’s Irish !!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the tutorial! This was my first song I heard by Billy Strings and instantly was down with his music and wanted to play this song! Just started guitar a year ago and now interested in getting better at picking. Definitely will subscribe and looking forward to more videos from you!
John, thanks for watching and letting us know. Best of luck on your guitar journey. Let us know if you need any particular lesson content. We love making these lessons.
Firstly, thank you for the awesome video, keep up the great work.
Billy Strings has got this great energy and style and the intro lick is amazing. I managed to get the first part of the intro from slowing down one of his other videos..(haha) but couldn't quite make the last 7 or 8 picks, you broke it down perfectly..
Respect from the UK.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Comments like this make me want to make more videos!
I wish more people taught like you! Easy to follow, not so easy to play 🤪

Ring of fire!! Awesome video!!
Thanks 👍
Thank you for this. Great teacher!
Thank you Joe!
Thanks for taking the time to make this! Great lesson!
Thanks for watching and commenting Trevor! Happy New Year!
I really liked your delivery on this lesson. This is a big compliment, as it really kept my attention. Some guitar teachers forget the middle steps (grey area between levels). If I may offer a suggestion, it would be awesome for someone to do a bluegrass version of Marty Music. He's awesome and really caters to multiple levels all at the same time. I think you have that same patience and delivery. Funny thing is, I've been playing that same scale as quick as possible from the high E to the G note, and I can play the G run pretty quick, too. But, I never thought to play them together. You connected some dots for me that I've really been missing. Thank you!
Thanks man that's very encouraging! I'll be making more soon!
The Big String! Love it!
Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
I learned the intro riff in literally 5 seconds. You're the best teacher lmao

Playing old school metal solos makes this stuff easy to learn actually .
Yes sir!
Awesome Matt!
Thanks Jeff!
Thank you sir for the tutorial! That helps a lot! Have a nice day
Thanks for watching and commenting! More to come on our channel!
This was great. Thanks for the lesson.
Thanks for watching Jesse Alford!
Thanks for the video I love the song. On a lighter note I felt as if you were staring into my soul when you played after teaching lol.
Hey, Thanks so much for watching and commenting! The camera has a tendency to make you stare, haha! Thanks again! Check out the links in the description to learn to read music and get a cool T-Shirt!
Whennyou hear this song from Billie it sounds ridiculous complex as all blue grass songs. At least to me german. Once you look at it it is all GCD with easy alternate base notes and it becomes easily playable for a bonfire session with the dudes. And who needs the solos in that setting after lots of booze and stuff? All better than playing Knocking on damn heavens door 😂 Good video.
Awesome help! Thanks a lot man! I tried a different tutorial earlier, I got stuck at the intro lick though, it just didn't sound right, but I think it's really awesome to use it in the song, so; many thanks, yours works and is easy to understand.
Thanks for watching. We're gonna keep trying to put helpful videos! Thank you Lauren Van Der Meijden! Please subscribe.
Perfect! Thx a ton!! Now for the solo... jk, but my blues guitar is almost like it`s built for this song. It`s a Fender, and sadly I use it not often enough, but maybe with a few new tunes to play...
Very cool, thanks! Is that a WD10 Washburn? I have a WD10S and a WD7 (electronics). The 10 needs a setup badly but a good guitar overall.
Thanks!!!!!!!!
You're welcome! Thanks so much for the comment!
Ok, screw it, I am gonna fetch some neat new percussion toys from the music store and some other stuff and then I go ballz deep in on this. I guess I`ve been officially bitten by the bluegrass bug. Thx again m8. Btw, I just snatched up a prestine Warlock from BC Rich for, and this is real: 250€, but for that he thows in a tuner and a guitarbag... Yeah seriously! I just wanted a cheap Fender Strat to be able to play when it`s late without being too loud. Now I got a date at 6PM with my new Warlock. Billie is my lucky charm, lol!
In the rhythm part I think he plays a G7 with the ring finger on the 4th string 3rd fret before going into the C into the chorus. I'm not sure. New sub. Love the channel.
Thanks so much for the comment! Thank you so much for subscribing! Much more to come!
cool song. maybe i give this thing a whirl
Billy slides the 1/2 on the fifth string
I see a silver star in you shadow box. Thank You for your service.
Thank you sir! those were my grandfather's
Was your Grandfather USMC?
Your grandfather must have served in WWII. A Silver Star is hard won in any conflict, but especially so in that war. Would love to hear the story of your grandfather's service!
Great vid
Thanks Gabe!
Never heard or played any bluegrass before hearing this song. Also a fairly average guitarist 😂
Cheers for the tutorial, really fun to play!
We love this song! Glad to help you and thanks so much for commenting!

Well 6 months later of playing minimum 6 hours a day (started playing 8 months ago) I decided to revisit this. It’s truly amazing the progress we make in little increments that we don’t notice day to day. I can absolutely smash this now 😎
@@samblack5313 man that is awesome to hear. You are killing it! Keep it up!
nice man
Thanks for the visit
Great lesson.Thank you. Has anyone said you look like Louis CK? 😂😂
Love Washburn.
Thanks for watching Ted! I'll use my old Washburn next.
@@StokesMusicStudiosOnline Please do. Always loved Washburn Steele Strings. Just solid reliable instruments. Happy Holidays.
Ello mate from W.Yorkshire!
Great tutorial! but above all I feel vindicated! I basically taught myself to play guitar and I hold my G chord the same way you do and my friends who played used to rip the piss out of me for it!
HAHA VINDICATION!
Thanks again :D
Haha! We're Thankful that you've watched our tutorial! Thanks! The G chord is a never ending debate :) We love all types of G chords and each song has a unique way of using the G chord!!! Best wishes to you! Cheers!
For the C chord, why don't you just put your pinky on the A string - third fret, and your ring finger on the E string - third fret? you won't have to switch your ring finger then?
You certainly can. I like the separation of the notes in this tune rather than letting them ring together. It's whichever you prefer.
Your disclaimer at the beginning of the vid was fair, and let you off what would have otherwise been a major title fail... without that it should have been called "how to strum three chords on guitar"
Thanks for your heartfelt comment. You're doing great with it. Keep up the great work.
I think you should use crosspicking while playing this chords, it sound wya bettar and closer to Billy's version
Really want to know the way to play Billy String - don't think twice Cover!
For starters you have to be able to fingerpick.
His cover of "Don't Think Twice" is fantastic! Have seen it a couple times now! Maybe we'll get a lesson on this channel soon! He's an incredible player! Working on forms of Travis Picking will get you more prepared! Thanks so much for commenting!
haha "your gonna have to ask him how to play that". yeah man hes unbelievable. thanks for the lesson though.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! His picking is so clean and we admire his hard work and determination!
I wish I had my guitar still. Im sure I can play with the opposite hand.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Let us know!
I couldn’t play guitar at all. I Snorted a little dust in a baggie, now I can’t stop playing.
Thanks Dee Nutz. Keep up the great work!
You could always just play that c chord with your 3rd on g and you’re pinky on C
That's a great way to do it.
@@StokesMusicStudiosOnline Glad you like the tip but you killed it, great job!
MORE COWBELL !!!

He plays the whole intro slowly at 5:23 if that's what you're here for like me
Thanks for commenting!
There might be a little dust in the baggie..

There are so many guitar players that blow Billy Strings out of the water. You are funny my friend. He is very good but by far the best. Watch a few Tommy Emmanual videos.
Thanks for watching our lesson about "Dust in a baggie" by Billy Strings! Yep, you nailed it! Tommy Emmanuel is one of our all time favorites, & I'm sure most people watching would agree with you! Kudos friend!
@Cosmic Dissonance Doc Watson? Tony Rice? We're talking bluegrass, not electric.
Dude he's mid twenties. He's a beast.
He's obviously talkin about flat picking bluegrass players. And for mid twenties, he's already a savage.
Thanks so much for posting this. Having a ball trying to get up to speed. BTW I found this clip of billy playing it and looks like he does a couple slides before the G run rather than pick every note. ruclips.net/video/qRM48vescjg/видео.html
We love that performance! One of his best, his playing rocks! Come to find, we've seen him do some slides/picks on different days! He is an incredible artist!
