The Rated R Spinner Championship is a very cool design. But Edge always looked good wearing the World Heavyweight Championship
Definitely. When I think of Edge, I think of him with the WHC feuding with the Undertaker
Yeah...Absolutely
It was awful. The whole spinner belt thing was. Edge with the WHC was a perfect fit for him.
The spinner is trash. Embarrassing even
No it isn't. It's just a worse version of the wwe title. Stop coping.
Hates the belt while it’s staring at him menacingly lol
He’s just envious because the company his working for is shit compared to the revival of the wwe
@@vintagemaxreally?
@@ANMLRT I’m being honest. Edge took the worst decision a human being could ever take
@@vintagemaxYour comment is so fucking retarded that I wish there is a way to just delete it on your own. Why the fuck would he be jealous of WWE and why would he be jealous to the point to lie about hating a championship design? Wrestling fans are the most autistic fucking people on earth and it’s actually embarrassing to be a part of this community with people like you.
@@vintagemax hes not envious, hes had his time and hes enjoying his time. Stop thrusting ur para-social concerns onto him. Youre being a weird fuck.
Edge grew up wanting to one day hold the same winged eagle championship fellow Canadian Bret Hart held but instead... SPINNER BELT!!! 😂
Well, at least they both held the same Championship. The Winged Eagle design is way better, though.
But instead he compromised- Phil
The issue with other wrestlers wearing a spinner belt, it just reminds everybody it’s still Cena’s era.
It diminishes someone’s stock as champion when your belt tells the world that someone else is the real top guy
Exactly. I will say though, Orton looked strangely good with it. It did NOT suit Triple H though...
Ehhhh no not really. The current WWE title design was introduced by The Rock, and I'm never reminded of him whenever I see it. Just like how the current I.C. title design was introduced by Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura. Doesn't mean it's their era. That logic could be applied to every other title design in existence.
@@FantasticJay3582 The spinning logo is different, it's associated with Cena on a broader level because of its nod to hip-hop culture. Cena should've been the only one to wear it.
@@FantasticJay3582 the spinner belt its a reference to a rapper's chain
I feel like Edges original concept would've sold even MORE! But I guess it looked more like a custom IC Title than a WWE Title.
probably would’ve cost a bunch more to produce tho. switching the spinner seems a lot easier.
The one he drew up is ugly asf
I never had a problem with the original spinner championship belt; but it should have just been exclusive to John Cena like the smoking skull belt was exclusive to Steve Austin.
Yea looking back but I still love using it to spin in the original Smackdown vs Raw games. But they should've went back the design before Cena won it, that design deserved so much more.
It truly only looked good on Cena and I guess CM Punk but everyone else it didn’t fit
@@killeranime3591 Eh maaaaaybe RVD and Jeff Hardy??? Idk maybe I just like those wins mainly and I liked when Rob was spinning it when he won at One Night Stand.
I thought Orton looked good with it.
I don't blame Edge. The Spinner Belt gets overtly hated, however the Rated R version was the worst WWE title in history. At least the original Spinner Belt fitted Cena like the Smokin Skull Belt fitted Austin.
Would've been cool to see Edges own Championship Belt.
Yes, absolutely. It also would be cool for Beth Phoenix to have her own customized Championship title.
"The worst WWE Title in history"? Have you seen the design they've used since 2013?
@@TheAnonymousIndividual Meant to say Spinner design. My bad
Spinner belt was rightly hated. Hell I'd say it wasn't hated enough
@AxeDharme I think people hated it because it was the cool thing to do.
Love the explanation about Edge appreciating the "Old School Style" of Belt Designs from the past. I too completely get the idea of progression and the theory "this ain't your Grandfather's Wrestling " anymore! 🤣 I've always been a "Mark" for Belts since the day when me and my brothers would spend weekends making our own Straps! Great memories and to be fair, through the years I have loved many of the Belts that have been introduced in the old territories and even in the modern wrestling scene! For me personally, The NWA Belt that Harley Race was sporting back in my very earliest Rasslin Days was my Go To Belt...and still is! Have seen a bunch of awesome ones since...But The Old Dome still does it for me! Cheers Gang👋
You know I believe that you know I believe a lot of the belts nowadays they look too comical or too cheesy looking I mean I like the original designs on a lot of the pellets they actually look like something a champion would be proud to have not some little spinny belt that looks like something that a 5-year-old designed
I remember hearing about edge debuting his own design. While I’m not generally a fan of personal championships, I was happy to see the spinner go…and then that Rated R spinner showed up. Man was that rough. Luckily though when I think of Edge, I think of Edge with the big gold.
It's one of my fav titles tho and he had a really good run with it. I didn't even need to think too hard about it, i have a clear image of what it looked like
I liked the spinner belt for a long time and still have some love for it since it was the belt of my childhood, but Edge shouldn't have held that version. He's always associated with the World Heavyweight Title to me. It just fit him and looked better on him.
It was *way* too damn much fun to hate this dude back in the day. He was the blueprint definition of somebody you loved to hate.
WWE haven't had a good looking World Championship since 2005.
Beginning with Cena's design, every design since then have all looked like ugly toys.
I heard wrestling fans from that era didn't even like the Undisputed Championship, they thought it was underwhelming and a bit disappointing when you compare it to the previous WWF titles.
It’s kind of ironic, because that belt is hanging on the wall in the background.
I never understood when someone else won the title they didnt change it even by 2007 cena rap gimmick was done im guessing kids loved it
I went to WM28 in Miami. It was the year Edge headlined the Hall of Fame. So in honor of him, I bought a Rated R spinner before I left for the trip so I could bring it with me and carry it around with me to all the events that weekend. And I'll never forget, as I was outside the arena leaving the show one night, some kid out on the street saw the belt on my shoulder and asked if I had actually custom-made my belt because he had never seen the Rated R spinner before 😂
I am curious if a wrestler reaches a point where they get their own unique title design, after their run with it ends do they get to keep it or keep a back up one or something?
I was so excited when Edge won, because I couldn't stand the spinner, and was happy it was going away.
Then we got spinner Edge.
Same I thought the Undisputed belt was going to make a comeback
It shouldn’t have spun, but I like the Rated R belt. It was a good way for his character to troll Cena.
In that era spinner wheels and chains wrre popular
Before Austin the only one that had customized belts was the Ultimate Warrior well the color straps
i could be wrong but i believe it was only austin and cena at that point who had custom belts unique to them.
The rock had a prototype brahma bull belt design made but it was never used and was only revealed to exist in recent years.
The undertaker also had a custom taker belt but same story.
The Rock's was going to be used but it got lost in transportation, so they had to scrap it
I'd like to see/know what Edge's concept would have looked like.
It was basically a Red/Black version of the old IC Title with Edge’s Rated R logo placed on the middle of the belt. There’s a pic of the drawing online
@@ericdxfan511 Ah, thanks. I just looked it up and...well...Edge's concept looks hideous. Lol. I'm not saying WWE's version was the way to go, but someone should have gone back to the drawing board.
Did he just called the Final Boss as Rockey?
The spinner belt was my favorite lol
The first part where he said belt designs use to mean something I felt that I hate the custom name plates too it’s not prestigious in my opinion
It had to fit the US and WWE titles were already spinner belts during that time
Biggest disappointment was when John finally dropped the belt I was happy because I thought we'd get a new belt or at the very least the undisputed title back...
Nope.
I dont remember the rock having his own personalized wwe title , he was supposed to be it never debuted
Apparently it got lost in the airport something like that
Adam’s orginal design for the Belt was better then the Spinner version (if you’ve seen the online the pictures), it would of sold more but that’s just me
The original spinner belt was great because it perfectly fit Cena's character and it was something new at the time, the Rated R version was basically WWE riding on the success of the original (commercially), but it didn't work out that well. I'm sure Edge's design would have been a much better choice but hey, gotta sell those titles.
The WCW us title, is the real one? Or a replica? Because he has the last WCW us champion right? 😮
Yes he was the last person in WWF or WCW to be the WCW U.S. Champion, but it's more than likely a replica
and WWE's belts still look like toys. but if it sells then so be it
I honestly hated it too, only one I did like was Austin's. Wonder if he liked that one himself?
That spinner looked perfect on John Cena, and I liked how it looked heavy, but Edge's looked strange for sure. Randy Orton pulled it off too for some reason, but I really see it as fitting for Cena and awkward on anyone else.
See I always saw it as the ultimate heel move to rub it in Cena's face. He was the only one who did a spinner belt other than Cena, and it really adds to their feud imo
The original Spinner belt is an atrocity also
Only WWE Stars to have their Own Title (that wasnt just a strap color change) were Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, and Edge... Arguably a lot of peoples mount Rushmore depending on when they started watching
Honorable mention to Laycool for their split in Half womens Championship (first time the freebirds rule was used to defend the women's title on a consistent basis even though Layla was the real champion, the wwe recognized them both as champs on the record books)
Is there a single clip on youtube, where Edge says that he liked something about the WWE?
Wasn't a fan of the spinner title and it was quite decisive amongst fans. I think a gaudy belt suited heel Edge at the time though and the spinner did that, though they couldve made more effort with thr design.
I guess I'm the only one who loves it.. for years I've dreams to have it
7 year olds at the time commenting today on how any spinner belt was "great" : 🤡😂
That design was trash drove fans over the age of 11 insane lol. Cena introduced the belt and then people couldn't wait for him to lose for it to be gone only for him to have a monster long run with it. Then it only got worse when we realized that after Cena had lost it they were going to use it for everyone regardless. Now everyone who won it was carrying around John's over-blinged out medallion music video belt no matter how serious or different their character was.
Saying this while having that title is hanging behind him in his garage gym
The spinner belt was the worst thing to happen to the title next to john cena holding it so many times
The title's gimmick came from spinner rims often seen in hip hop music videos and worked well for John Cena. Not sure why Edge doesn't embrace the concept that he beat Cena for the title, "took Cena's belt", and put his own "spin" on it as an insult and dig towards Cena. Like taking Cena's identity away from him as a slap in the face. I'm sure Edge hated the revenue as well from all his rated r belt sales as well.
Bet he didn't hate the payday
I get everyone wanted a new design but as many times as cena held it for those 7 or so years i get why they just made it stop spinning
I always liked his spinner belt. I saw it as a way of mocking Cena, just adding more fuel to their rivalry.
The Spinner Belt gimmick overstayed its welcome
That IC belt was the worst belt ever until the red and blue tag belts
I fucking HATED all the spinner belts. Why would you name someone a World Champion then give them a belt that looks like a 3rd grader made it? It's antithetical of being a champion. Instead of legitimizing, it made people look stupid.
It has to fit the character
I've never really gotten Edge as a wrestler but he's undeniably talented and in this situation he's 100 percent right about the spinner belts. They worked for Cena exclusively, which is why I never understood how and why they kept the design, even after taking away the spin feature, for as long as they did. When John made his transition from rapper to kinda like the light version of what Cody is today, I thought for sure they would bring back the original Undisputed championship belt. That one was never my favorite either, but it was a hell of a lot better than the spinner. The belts we have now, I'm so glad they're introducing new ones because the old ones sucked and were more often than not red and blue clones of the same crappy design. The fact that they had/have so many belts that are just the company logo is awful. No effort put into the biggest prizes of the company. I keep hoping they give Cody a new belt with a killer design that he and the rest of the roster can be proud of.
apologize to matt edge lol
Every wrestler hated the spinner belt punk tried so hard to get them to change the belt back in 2011 because it was 40lbs for no reason where they went wrong with the whole thing was that instead of keeping the belt just for cena only they gave it to everyone and their grandma the reason why the smoking skull belt was so iconic is because only one person had yes the rock and taker had it but they quickly changed it back to the main wwf title
personally, i hated EVERY spinning title
I always hated to spinner belt. It looked like a toy belt. The Winged Eagle was a world title, Bret was right.
Alright let's settle this once and for all whether you like it or not the WWE spinner belt is probably the most iconic, well known, highest selling WWE champion in history listen I know I like JBL and Eddie belt but the Spinner represented the 2000s way more with the hip hop culture inspiration I was a kid in the 2000s I remember loving that belt as a toy also I did like Edge design of Rated R belt it wouldn't work in that time period it's too much Golden era to 80s it looks like a Intercontinental Champion
The spinner was iconic??😂🤣🤣 it was a joke! It was basically a very expensive toy belt. There was no prestige to it at all.
@@bjfx123 A joke sold alot of merchandise. Guess it wasn't that bad
@@bjfx123 WWE is not a sport it's entertainment the reason why is casuals fan tune in during the time 2005-2013 was for characters and charisma that these WWE Superstars had the promo skills these Stars so when you think of WWE champion it should pop and have a gimmick to stand out that's made the spinner belt iconic
@@lancethefilmguy9392 You just further cemented Adam's point...it was just to sell belts. To add on to that, mostly to just children.
@@criticalspectrum8383 It was only cool if you were like 13 years old.. But if you're a true professional wrestling fan, it was obvious there was no prestige to that abomination at all
The spinner belt is always crazy to me. Should have only been held by John Cena as it is his character. Sounds sad that only reason was given to other superstars was because of merchandise sales.
Agree with Edge that spinning belt is a disgrace
Metalingus goated
NO champion should ever wear a belt that spins leave that for the kids toys
A lot of us didn't like it either. But merch above all, right. I'd like to see his version.
Maybe it would have been just a big R and 💫
😂
He has released a drawing of what he wanted im sure if u look for it u can find it
Isn't everything in wrestling is to sell something?
That spinner is one of the worst designs IMO. The Big Eagle is my favorite, but the Undisputed V2 is slowly but surely getting up there. The V2 was the last classic design that felt prestigious IMO.
I figured it was only used as a visible insult to Cena. Cause really the spinner belt didn't go good with anybody else
The Rated R belt looked worse than the Cena one because it honestly looked like thet took out the WWE logo and just shoved in a flat jpeg.
Edge always looked better with the World Heavyweight Championship.
Too bad Edge. I love the spinner belt-even the “Rated R” title.
Cena made that title belt design look wack.
It made a world title look like a joke.
but it was dope tho
The one he drew looks better 😂
The spinner always looked like a toy
Belt designs in general haven't looked good in a while. The last wwe belts that had a good classic design were the long defunct light heavyweight champion and the European championship
They used the Spinner Belt far too long. It was already passed it’s time when Edge had it. A few years later Miz was champ and they were still using it.
The current ones are worse.
Rah rah😂
Lies. I heard he fought for it and the real reason he retired was because they wouldn’t bring it back.
I loved the belt personally. He didnt like the belt. I didnt like edge as champ. 🤷🏿♂️
To be fair anything that has spinners is super lame
Edge did much better with the big gold
Even though Edge was not a fan of his Rated R Spinner belt he made the Big Gold look like a million bucks
Those spinning belts were ugly. I liked the unified belt.
Spinner belts sucks, all of them
just like spinning rims lmao...thats some pimp my ride shit xD
Spinner belts are just so, douchebaggy.
Ironically that one was the best version of the spinner belt.
Can you imagine if every champion got custom Spinner plates that would have been interesting.
He looks so old
The Spinner belt was lame as fuck
He said it perfectly, "well I don't like this.." "... So?"
Wwe creative, and all those behind the scenes people, in charge of marketing, etc. They really just don't consider the wrestlers opinions on things like that. Whether it's belt design, names, gear changes, etc.
Like how can you expand creatively, if you're being stopped by the people trying to be "creative" for you.
I agree with edge. Spinner is stupid.
The spinner belt in general was a garbage belt overall.
24/7 title says hi
Ihate ot too! Looked like a SuperCena f'n toy.
That belt was absolute trash.
For someone who was very successful in wrestling Edge is INCREDIBLY dull and boring. I have never seen an interesting interview with him.
