I went to Target in Vestal NY the other day and made the mistake of purchasing Tide pods. I am leaving the store and the alarm sounds. I stop and wait for someone to come over and they say oh you bought Tide. I ask to speak to a manager. They say there are no managers in the store and that the one manager is outside the store for lunch at 6:32 PM. Once they finally get someone to come out, about 10 minutes later. I ask why I am being accused of stealing. I tell them they can search me. I am told there are security devices in the Tide Pods and that is setting the alarm off. I said I paid for them so why wasn’t the tag deactivated. I am told they don’t have any way to deactivate the alarm tags in their store. So if I want to shop in Target I have to be willing to be accused of stealing. Guess what no more shopping at Target.

I haven't and won't shop at Target. Several years ago a veterans group asked if they could set up a table soliciting donations for a local home for veterans. Target told them no, it was too political. But a few weeks later, there was a "pride" table all decked out with rainbows, unicorns and pixie dust.

We traveled from South Dakota to Iowa to see our son. While i was there my son asked if I'd make a bean dish he loves. I needed 6 cans of Ranch beans. I had to go to 4 stores too find them. I finally asked a worker at the last store, he said we just aren't getting them in. So when i was back home, I checked at our regular grocery store. They had 4 cans left, and i was told there MIGHT be some on the truck on next Thursday, but they couldn't be sure.
So the stores don't even know what they'll be getting in??
    God Blessings to everyone!!!! 🙏❤🙏

No, there is no guarantee of receiving what a store orders. It all depends on what the distribution centers have. The supply chain is a literal chain of producers, packagers, distributors, etc. if there is weakness in one area the entire chain is affected.

    • @grannyshell5425
      @grannyshell5425 3 месяца назад +8

You put ranch beans, brown sugar, browned beef spicy sausage, cooked crumbled bacon, chopped onion, and black pepper. Pour everything in a baking dish, bake at 350 for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Very easy. I don't have exact amounts of anything because I cook as to the way it looks and tastes as I go. Everyone always loves it. (I like leftovers as a chip dip... just mash it up, heat and enjoy!)

With this heat, try using a crock pot and set it outside so it doesn't heat up your house. And, the side benefit is that you'll have your neighbors lining up at your door. What a fun way to meet neighbors.

One more thing, lettuce is SUPER EASY to grow. You can use a bowl, bucket, any container, or just the ground. The seeds are about $1.29 a packet. I usually plant 1/2 the packet and then plant the second half a couple weeks later. I have lettuce all the time. (Hint: lettuce likes it cool. So don't put the containers in total sun.) Have a great day!!!🙏❤🙏

They're charging as much for bones as the meat almost. Over $3 a pound for soup or marrow bones. If you have family buying half or quarter steers for freezer, have them tell the butcher you want the bones, liver, and heart. It won't cost them any extra and you'll get free bones, etc. 😊

We finally opened a can of ground beef. It was surprisingly decent. Looked like the pressure canned beef we prepare here for Murphy. Perfect! The cans are free at the pantry and we have plenty tucked away. Just brave enough to open this week as the prices are silly here in the Berkshires. Visit the pantry. They have provided our household with protein, thank goodness! Hoping for good news this week on one of two second interviews last week. Good vibes! Peace

I volunteer at a local food pantry, and get food from them once a week as well. Last week, a rancher donated 3 pigs to the pantry, so the pigs were taken to a local processor, and we then picked up the 400 pounds of ground pork. Along with that pork were a few 10 pound bags of pork fat!!! I was able to get one of these bags!! I’m so excited to have it!!!

So glad I’m not a chip addict. Won’t be buying those. But I do love my romaine lettuce. However…at $7 a bag…I will pass. Time to plant my own. Tiny tiny cantaloupes for $5?. Cheap hot dog buns $4. Yup..prices have bout doubled and tripled on everything. Lucky for me…I don’t have to buy that stuff.

What's going on with Kool Aid? I bought some for the first time in a couple of years at Walmart. There was no Great Value brand, and there were only 3 flavors available in the store. There were a few more 'affordable' flavors online, but they were more than 5x the price in-store. There were more flavors at exorbitant prices, though, like $12+ a packet. Has Walmart quit offering a store brand? When I bought a few packets years back, it seems to have been the same way. I had figured that it was just a short-term thing due to the pandemic, but now it's been a while.

I use the small packets of koolaid, the ones that used to be 25 cents, to clean my toilet. There's enough citric acid in koolaid to do a decent job at cleaning a toilet. I use either grape, orange, lime or the blue flavors for their colors but mostly for their scent. Seriously, it works.

I don't blame the retail food markets, as much, for the higher costs of some foods. If soy oil is at a lower price but the price is higher on the shelf....the middle man pays the lower wholesale price, but what is the middle man charging the retailer? So, who is actually gouging and making a greater profit? Retail food markets are the end of the line, look at all the hands these products go through before they hit the shelves. Food markets operate on only a 3-4% profit margin....that's pretty thin.

Update: On The Border (OTB) Salsa, and Queso Cheese Dip Products are disappearing from the shelves at Walmart. Shelf Tag listed as a Price Roll Back, with the price reduced down to $2.50 This effectively wiped the inventory from the shelves. There’s literally a huge hole of shelf space there now. I’m not sure if this company is just getting removed from the store, or if this could be due to Supply Chain concerns. All I know is, I sure miss my favorite Queso Cheese Dip. Mid Atlantic is gonna be like Death Valley … it literally rained for months .. put my garden in … rain stopped 🤨… I’ve poked holes in drink bottles (people save them for me we don’t buy sodas etc) cut the bottoms off and buried them top down to water directly at the roots … but this means hand watering… but otherwise I get wasted water from run off and I’m on a well … so hand watering it is …

Update: Central Indiana, grocery store Sunday night, they didn't having anything I went to the store for. I shop organic and many organic products throughout the store have been light or no longer offered over the last year. But Sunday night I could not get a single item on my list. I wanted mostly fruits and veggies. I couldn't find my husband's unhealthy frozen pizzas. The organic milk section was nonexisent. We shop at a local butcher who sells locally sourced quality meat. He ground 2 pounds of beef fat for me, and I make my own tallow with it. (Tallow is beef fat, and studies have shown it to have a protective effect on the liver.) When I strained out the fat, I fed our 2 month old chickens the leftover bits, and they LOVED it!

Lettuce literally useless on 2nd day, and 2 watermelons were “mush” inside when cut the following day. However bulk potatoes, instead of stored and lasting a reasonable time literally were rotting/ soft within a few days, was the most unusual product

Update; ARIZONA along the Colorado river area. I don’t know what’s going on. Our eggs are the cheapest I’ve seen in years. Under two dollars a dozen. So I’ve been buying them up Sharon with my daughter-in-law. I know they’ll last for a while. I also got some free eggs from my cleaning lady. She has chicken so I know they’ll last a little bit longer cause they’re really fresh. But I can’t believe how great the price has been on so I don’t know it blows my mind away supposedly when we’re having the biggest shortage here and the cheapest I’ve seen literally I don’t know 6 to 7 years in this area.

UPDATE- I’ve been and out of the hospital, (mostly in, unfortunately), and there are many food items unavailable and the staff don’t know when they will be available again. Mostly meat but some other items as well. I’m mostly tube fed but I’m able to eat some puréed food if I’m not too sick “for pleasure “, and I ask about what’s available just to stay informed. Things were also unavailable like this throughout summer of 2022 from what I remember being at the same hospital for several months. Some medical supplies have had to be exchanged due to available resources and high staff turnover… some retirement, some lay offs, some just can’t find workers. ER overcrowding, units shut down from lack of staff and that leads to patients being treated in the ER waiting room, stretchers in hallways instead of rooms for hours or sometimes even days depending on what they’re there for. It isn’t Covid… pretty sure this is staffing related and the available staff try their best but are often strained and teetering on burnout, some staff should not be there but are allowed to stay depending on the role they play. The healthcare system is seriously strained so please get anything you need done scheduled if you can
