I need to get my hands on one of these beauties before it's to late. I'm surprised their not more popular by now, a cheaper, reliable, rwd sports car, 80s styling, what's not to love!
You should! One reason people might not go for them is that some of the parts are not easy to get but a lot of those parts there is a way around not having them, like my side trim delete, but yeah they are all around pretty great cars, I love mine, I plan on never getting rid if it!
Just started up my 85 Celica GTS for the first time after a full rebuild today after two years of headaches(and now the tranny's out on the ground), and this just shows me how much more I have to go. I've had the inside stripped and cleaned, but still need to pull the fenders, sand and paint the exterior like you did. This video definitely re-lit the fire. I hope to be able to restore a car like this with my own kid someday. Props to you and your dad.
I've been searching for certain vids on specific parts of the car and I always find myself on your channel. You always have the video I need. Keep up the great work!
Glad to see you working to keep her on the roads. People need to see where Supras came from. I recently picked up an 85 Celica GT and i love the thing to death. Such a stylish car, keep up the stellar work
Awesome job 👏 guys!!! I have two an 84 and 85. My 84 is red too garage kept and all original. Got a mechanic shop working on it right now. Can't wait to get it back so I can listen to dubstep in it! Got 4 12s DVD player 1000 watt amp. It's my dream car!!!🤩
Man very nice Supra! It's one of the best I have seen that is in close stock rebuild. Very refreshing and beautiful. I will put up some video on my 84 this summer. Thanks
Amazing job on this car. I've wanted to work on restoring an older car for some time. Seeing others, such as yourself do this type of restoration makes me think it's possible :)
I’ve always loved these cars. I need to get mine out more often. It’s nice to see all you hard work pay off. You guys did an amazing job. Really great video too. I enjoyed watching the transformation. Enjoy your sweat and tears.
Hi Ethan that's a great job. I'm in buffalo and also have a 82 supra, planing on doing some repairs on it I truly hope comes out as good as yours. Ups to ur dad , I'll be doing this with my grandson he's 15
This thing is a beauty, I had one of these but went a totally different route. I just did a simple respray because mine didn’t have rust other than by the quarter window so I 7m gte swapped with bigger 6466 turbo dual fuel pump 1050 injectors and upgraded intercooler and cams with valve train upgrade. I miss mine so much🥺
Great Video ... Helps a lot ... I am refurbishing mine, but mine in RHD. Looking forward to you posting the parts list and the ordering websites. Appreciate it and thank you.
Just found this vid, damn bro, GREAT FUCKIN JOB! It looks amazing, those black wheels set it off NICE. CS is one of my ALL time fav cars, just for looks alone, just had that perfect rally race look, mean and fun at the same time. Just a beautiful car and u made it even nicer.
I had a silver 84 model of these which was in pretty good nick. I eventually ended up doing a motor swap to a 2JZ twin turbo which was tuned to 427KW at the rear wheels. It was a very fast car but ended up selling it as it was turning into a money pit. The new owner was doing 10's down the quarter with it. Still miss that car though.
The restoration itself wasn't too bad, there were a few tricky things we had to deal with but all in all the work itself wasn't terrible. It was a very time consuming process though, I think the biggest issue we dealt with was rust and bodywork, I had only used body filler once prior to using it on my car and it was pretty easy to get the hang of. They are great very fun cars to own, definitely worth the work!
EthanDiiulio dude thank you so much for the info! I figured the rust would be the hardest part but I do love these cars & they are quite underrated for being a Japanese classic! I’ll keep you posted! I’m checking out an 85 next weekend!
I have the same year car, just no front end, and no headlights. This is awesome to see your love and passion for this old car! Any recommendations on where to find parts?
rockauto.com has some parts but if you're looking for bigger less common stuff you might have a good shot at finding the parts you need on these two Facebook groups, there are usually new parts for sale every day! facebook.com/groups/15695938750/ facebook.com/groups/mk2suprapartsfstw/
I’m doing a complete oem restoration on a 1984 Celica Supra and I’m finding all my parts by random searches on Google. It’s more of a challenge than I thought it would be but I’m slowly finding everything I need. Just keep searching.
Thank you! They are 235/60/R14's and I don't know the exact specs of the suspension because it was like that when I bought the car but I do know that it has lowering springs in the front and rear and I believe that's all the suspension modifications done to it for now.
I have a 1985 celica Supra that I’m thinking on selling but I don’t know how much to sell it for. It’s a project car, it’s engine is pretty much dead. Just not sure if I should sell it and for how much. I don’t have the money for an engine swap so I Don’t know if I have a choice
Rockauto.com sometimes has some stuff for these cars, a lot of the stuff we found was on ebay, rockauto or sometimes through people in the MK2 Supra facebook groups
Nice! Mine was listed for around 4200 but I ended up getting it for 3000. some of them that are in fairly good condition are still running pretty cheep, they are great project cars, most of them need a little bit of fixing up but with the final result its definitely worth it
If you consider new car prices, this is and will be the best car ever to buy new. Around 16k in mid 80s, if anyone knows better car for the money let me know.
Hey I see your in ny I'm building a 84 right now I'm right outside of the buffalo area I got my car for free was in a crash bent front frame and screw lots of other stuff up been sitting sense 96
Hey man I’m starting to restore my 1985 Supra and I’m starting with the interior. My climate control buttons/levers don’t seem to be working anymore...do you know of any places I can find this for it? Thanks for the reply
On my car we never had to deal with the climate control switches, but we did go through and clean all the ac/heat blower components and replaced the evaporator core. Before we did that not very much air came out of the vents but after going through the whole system it feels like a small hurricane blows through the vents now Lol. I don't know of a specific place where you could find new levers but there are a couple Facebook groups I am in where people sell parts and also are happy to help with any questions as well facebook.com/groups/15695938750/ facebook.com/groups/mk2suprapartsfstw/ Hopefully that helps a little bit, I wish you the best of luck on your restoration! If you have any other questions I'm happy to try my best to answer them!
Its a Vibrant Performance aluminum pipe, 45 degree bend with a 2.75 inch outer diameter, part number is VIB 2880. We had to cut off a few inches from one end to make it fit perfectly but other than that it fits and works, and also looks really nice!
It was completely rotted and parts like those were extremely hard to come by in remotely good condition and they were very expensive if you found them, I also like how the car looks now without it
I like the early 80"s Supra body style up to 85 or 86 the best of the 80"s model Supra's....The 87 and up, to me don't look as good. Unless with the proper custom body/body panel kits.....If I had the money, instead of the 90s Supra body style everybody seems to love. I'd rather drop a 400hp inline 6 & 6 speed manual into an 85 Supra body. Widen the fenders a bit more for bigger wheels/ tires, find a decent looking front splitter, hood scoop & rear spoiler that doesn't look over the top cheesy.
We found that there were some unique rust spots on the car, most likely from a water leak and the only way to get full access to those spots was to remove the windshield so we could remove the rust.
Really great work you've done! I notice you're missing your bottom rocker cover trim? (the panel under the doors). Anyway - it usually rusts and impossible to find. But! you can hit up a mid 90s cressida and just trim the front off. Did it on mine. Painted black. Looks stock
Thanks! I actually got a pair of them made using galvanized steel and a metal brake, that will be in one of the videos in the next few weeks. We still have to paint them but they should be on the car soon!
Yeah that’s kinda how I am at this point, like I love the 2jz but instead I got an is300 with one in it, looks better and will be a cooler drift car, as for the mk2 in my opinion it is arguably the best looking generation Supra or at least the most unique
I have one in my garage. My husband and I have been trying to restore it but it is so hard. It is a 1985 Celica Supra and I am the original owner. I can't wait to get her going again. I drove her during the CB Radio period and my handle was "Supra Girl". Where do you get your parts from?
Wow. What a waste of a good car. What's next under car lights and a huge sub woofer? Maybe redo the interior with some florescent orange and dragon stripes or maybe a skull.
Where did you see me modify it at all? This was a restoration I’m not putting stuff like that in it, I’m not the person to put any sound system in my cars, my drift car is getting under glow because it fits the build. I make my cars for me and no one else, if you don’t like it I respect your opinion but you don’t have to watch the video
