For portability beats power, I prefer my iPad Mini and I love iPhone 13 Mini, devices you can carry around, in your pockets and that does not take that much space. For other tasks I have my Surface Pro (still portable by the way lol)

Never usually watch the ad segment, didn’t skip this time and so happy to hear you are full time with this now. (I have an M4 iPad btw. Man maybe couldn’t even justify it but it’s just so lush)
Honestly - I wouldn't buy the nano screen unless you're planning on using it as a drawing tablet 99% of the time. Paperlike's screen covers do the same job at a fraction of the price. There's another brand called Paperfeel whose screen protector is removable using magnets so you can benefit from the full glory of the screen without sacrificing brightness due to the matte effect of a textured cover/treatment.
I gave up hope that Apple would provide any significant upgrades with anticipated iPad Mini 7. Loved my iPad Mini 6, but a few months ago upgraded to the M4 iPad Pro 11”. Primary reasons: 1. Wanted better screen resolution 2. Larger screen for better note-taking and split screen.
I’m still holding out hope for the A17 Pro providing access to Apple Intelligence and external monitor support (I’m not sure it would need all of Stage Manager). I could see unifying the iPad lineup on a series of chips that provide the same basic capabilities making it easier on developers and Apple’s engineers.
I’d like to see a brighter screen, a much better battery OR MagSafe. Not overly fussed about AI on a tablet, though I see it being potentially useful on a phone when driving.
About multitasking, it’s not about doing different things at the same time, it’s about singletasking with multiple windows. If you use a safari window with a note window, you are singletasking, using multitasking features ! That’s why a lot of people need good multitasking features (and I think the ipad is good at it with split view on a small screen)
I didn’t cover this in the video (maybe one for the future), but I’ve had some success hooking up the iPad Pro to my external monitor. Both as a single device and as an extension to my MacBook. You’re absolutely right. When my task is research for these videos I usually need two windows open.
Final Cut Pro for iPad is an aid to Final Cut Pro on the computer meaning you work on editing on the go and then finish the rest on your MacBook. That is how I see it.
My last iPad was a plain ol' 6th gen which I bought with a Logitech keyboard and a 1st gen Apple Pencil, and I was unimpressed: I gave it to my wife who still intermittently uses it to this very day. This time I bought an 11" iPad Pro 512 GB with Cellular, a Magic Keyboard, and a Pencil Pro and I _love_ this thing. Most consumer workflows don't use multithreaded apps, and the best determinant for how snappy a computer is the single core speed - and that makes this thing the snappiest computer in the world for normal tasks, even though it lives in a pane of glass. It has a Promotion display which means it can ramp up to 120 hz, and using the Magic Keyboard gestures I can power through navigation at lightning speed. I really didn't need the Pencil because keyboard navigation is so good, but it's nice to have when I detach the iPad from the Magic Keyboard. The display is the best display I have in the house, and between that and the speed of the M4 SoC this thing is bright, light, and blindingly fast. I can heave the iPad, Magic Keyboard, and pencil into a sleeve and be out and about computing whether there's wifi nor not, and this package makes my 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro feel like a boat anchor.
I thought I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the Mini screen and IPad Pro in most situations. I was wrong! Apple know what they’re doing making their most expensive iPad the only one with 120hz.
@@ThatMarkGilroy The tandem OLED is like a reference display with a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio and it gets up to 1,000 NITS for SDR content and 1,600 for HDR. The package is expensive, but it really is a magical sheet of glass.

I got an iPad Pro M2 2022 from John Lewis for £699 and like you, am pleasantly surprised by how much I have enjoyed using it. I got a Logitech keyboard so for working on the go, it's great but.....I am 85% sure I will end up buying another Mini because its just so much more portable for those use cases when you don't want the size and heft of the pro (yes, I know the M4 is lighter but once you have a case on it, does it make THAT much of a difference??). Oh and the forthcoming Mini will have an Apple AI compatible chip in it so you won't lose out on that.
I thought the normal size will be the best of both worlds but it’s too big to comfortably type and too small for productivity so I switched to iPad mini and iPad 12.9” so I can use the same pencil, which also makes a great external second display for a MacBook Pro 14”. And the mini fits in my day sling which is awesome. Also there is something magical about having a 12.9” tablet on an airplane tray :)
