I think the animatronics look impressive…
Possibly unpopular opinion… What story are the imagineers trying to tell? To me imagineering is about telling a story, and I don’t feel like a story was developed. The final show scene is beautiful and impressive, but up until that point, I feel like there was a lot of wasted time that could have told a meaningful story.
I think it’s going to take a few times on it to pick up all of the details. Definitely not a one and done.
I'm underwhelmed, but not surprised.
Disney keeps re-theming everything instead of creating new rides. Princess and the Frog deserves it's own unique attraction. Come on Disney! You have some of the best imaginations working for you, do better!

Me too but the problem is that Tiana and Naveen were frogs for half of the movie so it would be kinda lame to just see small animatronic frogs throughout the ride until the end

The main problem with the attraction is the amount of dead space within the first 4 minutes of the ride. Before the second drop, there is about 3 15 second intervals of pitch black scenery before they transition to the auto animatronics. They could have utilized the space for more story telling with the critters if they are going to use that storyline rather than leaving it blank. Don’t care much about the story but wasting that amount of space is absurd

Splash mountain was great - As a replacement I feel that Disney should have put more $$$ or thought into it. It isn't better than Splash but feel like it is a downgrade. This is my problem here.
Sorry to say this, but this ride is a bust! No excitement, no real reason to ride it more than once.
Dr. Facilier would have spiced up this ride, especially for the Halloween season. Also give me some characters

Splash Mountain had a better storytelling, for sure. And more Animatronics. Princess Tiana deserved a really new ride and not just a sort of makeover. Well, just my opinion. I have 50 years visiting WDW once a year and I think there are some attractions that You can set as “classics”. Pirates, Mansion, Big Thunder, etc… Splash Mountain, for me, had that status. It was a classic! You can improve, add new effects, do such things, but never get rid of them. But, again, It’s just an opinion from an old (and I mean it) Disney fan. Have fun, folks! ✌️
as someone who isn’t a fan of splash mountain i agree with you. it was not a ride that needed to be messed with. now if they had simply added tiana so she could have a zippadedodah day. that would have been cool too

This ride is a HUGE MISS except for the exterior and the final scene. They need to redo the whole story and bring the Shadow Man because the current story is unbelievably boring
From what I’ve seen, whole thing looks pretty flat. There was a lot of missed opportunities, project seems rushed. Whole attraction seems out of place. I hate it.
People have GOT to stop settling for mediocre things when it comes to Disney.
Universal is wiping the floor with them and it’s not even remotely close to being funny anymore.

This could have been better if it was their own original boat ride, not a log flume. They could have had a fight at the end between Mama Odie and Dr. Facilier.

looks beautiful and fun. the amount of love that went into these animatronics was probably a lot of time and effort. it shows :)
Disney set the bar and now consistently comes way under it. The story has about as much depth as the flume itself and without Dr. Facilier, it’s plain boring. Friends on the Other Side is one of the best songs in the film and the fact they didn’t use that for one of the drops, is soooo disappointing. I mean it writes itself…”are you ready?” “I got friends on the other side?” It’s so on the nose. It should be Dr. Facilier who turns riders into frogs (which is what I’m assuming happens during the Honey I Shrunk the Audience portion of the attraction) and Mama Odie who brings them back during the final drop. The animatronics are amazing and I’m glad they invested the money into them but even they can’t save the lack of a good, coherent story which used to be Disney’s bread and butter. A story needs exposition, CONFLICT, rising action, a climax and resolution. I wouldn’t be as critical if I knew Disney wasn’t capable of it, but they are and should be held to their own standard. I think we will look back and consider this the Disney Dark Ages…or at least I hope so because I think with this, the gutting of live entertainment and the dragonless Fantasmic we have hit the bottom. I really wanted to like this too since this is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time.

I am a Splash Mountain fan, but I have to say... It is very pretty. Do I wish there was more, maybe. But honestly I can imagine my kiddo on this ride and just finding it to be really fun. It is really nice looking.
I feel all of the Disney RUclipsrs are afraid to speak the truth. Don’t need to lie. This ride is not as good as Splash Mountain. What a disappointment. Disney needs to fire some imagineers.

I love your enthusiasm. But I saw the full ride POV the other day and was quite upset and all the missed opportunities in it. It is boring to be honest, where is Prince Naveen? WAY at the end! Where is Dr. Facilier?? Not anywhere! Where is the story of the movie that Disney is famously for? There were so many dead spots, very little going on. Whitel I appreciate the work that went into it, it seems like a cheap overlay. Or maybe a big aisle of Hobby Lobby. Pro was the ending scene. I wish they would have done more througout the ride. When the POV was released there were a few thousand comments and they all didn't like it.

Disney rushed to replace splash because of the criticism it received from cancel culture that it forgot it needed to tell a story.
Just an fyi, this ride was not the same story as the movie we all know. They specifically said that it was to take place after the storyline of the movie. Dr. Facilier is captured by his shadow and dragged into the voodoo world, where his soul will remain forever. It was not expected for him to have an appearance on this ride as it would make no sense.
@@stephanieyeager1864 You are correct. Due to this not being a retelling of the movie and instead a sequel it wouldn't make sense for him to return.
But this isn't the first time Disney has avoided villains in a recent new ride. The Tangled storyline was heavily pruned for the new Tokyo ride (at the same time the Tokyo Frozen ride is a full retelling of the movie so it's not a comprehensive new policy 😜).
So, it's Splash Mountain without a story, catchy songs, or any fun. I've never seen so much as a hill in the bayou, let alone a mountain. It looks like Michael's had a three for one sale on plastic plants and they just dumped it there.

If you watch the side by side videos, every place it was “empty” in Splash is also “empty” in Tiana’s. Every place that had animatronics in Splash has animatronics in Tiana’s.

I like the jazz music and the cypress trees with the moss. The water color is pretty good too but should be a bit more green. The beignets in the queue look great! And I love the Mardi Gras party!
I have to say that I was disappointed by all the red dirt left over from Splash. I understand it's probably time saving and budget cuts that most people wouldn't notice, but I definitely do. Our dirt is nearly black. Also, it feels as though there are just too many flowers everywhere, as a cheap filler.
I love that Leah Chase Jr sings "Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans" through the queue, but it's slow and doesn't give hype for the ride.

Thank you for the video Kyle!! As someone whos got anxiety and doesn’t like drops it’s so nice to still be able to see the full ride like this!! I think the animatronics are amazing and that last scene was soo beautiful!! I never got to ride the original Splash so I can’t really weigh in with other peoples opinions about it being changed but I loved watching it!

There could have been so much more..... Even Igor commented this is "boring" when he walked through the attraction.

Just because their opinion isn’t the majority opinion doesn’t mean they’re wrong or that their opinion is invalid. I myself don’t care for this ride from what I’ve seen of it but I can absolutely understand how people can like the ride given the impressive animatronics ( which people aren’t giving Disney enough credit for imo) and good interior atmosphere.

I guess it's cheaper to resole a shoe then buy a new pair. Disney cutting un-needed corners as they struggle to get momentum. They needed a new ride, because it did feel like a retheme splash. I saw their vid last night and thought I rode this before. I shouldn't be thinking this.

this is by far the best POV i’ve seen you did the ride justice- i will say it’s definitely more for the little kids and it can be an upbeat relaxing type of ride. i think we’re all so used to the dark elements of the story line in the old ride i think it will grow on people as time goes on. change is tough i also used to love splash mountain myself.
A relaxing ride for kids who are either too short to ride, or will be terrified of e 50 foot drop that has no relevance to the Disney Junior tier story.

Just a very lazy and fumed down version of crap. It’s absolutely nothing compared to splash. I can’t believe Iger will let this happen. Any imagineer involved with this needs fired. It’s just dumb. Like who is the audience? Dumb people? Slow? I don’t get it.

They ruined a classic ride and in it’s place put a lackluster experience with an uninspiring story. No villain and the music was boring too. At least I won’t have to waist 60+ minutes waiting to ride this abomination.

Great filming @KylePallo! What’s the story line of this ride? Why do you “get smaller” at one point?
The ride looks okay. Could’ve been better. They could’ve added the shadow man and all the voodoo stuff just before the big drop. This lacks a good storyline and isn’t even aligned with the Princess and the Frog film. Also looks weird in the Splash Mountain track and surroundings, which were built specifically for that. Such as Brer Rabbit being dropped into the Briar Patch. Overall this lacks the Disney magic. Too many blank spaces. And the music doesn’t have that Laughin Place feel to it.
The flag looked great. You did a great job doing that I couldn't even tell when you switched cameras I'm glad you put your big camera away. Especially being in the front

I’m very excited to see the ride for myself. Hopefully soon. Some people just hate everything, and they can go down the big drop without a boat.
This is a disaster. Even her said it’s boring. Where is the best imagineers? Because they sure didn’t do this catastrophe. What an embassment. It’s not even what the movie is about. Total failure and Disney already knows it. Just watch. This won’t last.
It's rather amazing that Disney not only released its own (poorly shot) POV of an already highly divisive retheme that showed it was clearly subpar, but did so just two weeks after the PR disaster of the Jenny Nicholson Starcruiser deep dive that put a lot of focus on influencer marketing and how they weaponize it for damage control (with her point being subsequently proven with the orchestrated PR campaign to soften the fallout).
Not only are more people aware of how the influencer marketing gimmicks work, they can now spot it working in real time, and it's so incredibly obvious to see how insincere the fluff talk really is.
No way near as good as splash mountain. It is colorful though. Thanks, Kyle for sharing
The ride at its core makes it still a great ride regardless of Tiana or origin theming. Personally, I still prefer Splash but appreciate Tiana.

Great video! I didn't get to comment on your loss. I am so very sorry. You can see 2 things if you are a long time viewer...1 your Grandpa was a very sweet loving man. #2 You loved and respected him very much! His sweatshirt will be a very sweet reminder of him and his commitment to you. You have been so lucky to have your grandparents in your life so long. I lost mine in my teens along with my father. And I lost my mom around your age. Cherish the moments!! Never take it for granted sweetie. At the age of 59 I look back at those days having everyone around me with found memories and long for them everyday. May the Lord bless you and comfort you during your loss. I am sending you my nightly prayers. Please pass on my condolences to Mom and Dad.

It looks cute! The story to Regular Splash Mt was boring to me 🤷♀️ . And we mostly rode it for the drops and water anyways.

I notice a lot of people whose expectations let down with this ride but they forget it’s supposed to be for a kids perspective. Kids these days have never seen Song of the south so splash is no longer fit for the new audience. People have to go in open minded of who this was refurbished for.

Ok. Granted, I have not actually ridden this ride BUT as far as the POVs I've seen, this ride is BORING!! So many empty spaces, non congruent "story", & wth? Kyle I adore you & usually respect your reviews but ding dang it! Your enthusiasm for this crappy seeming attraction canNOT be how you truly feel!! Come on! I am a big Disney fan (you should just see my house!) & have been AP since 1988 (Cali Disney) but nope, nope, nope. I feel like you're kissing some Disney a**. Sooo disappointed. 😥😡
