Me 1990s kid, born in a southern city. Studied in a Christian school - made to pray to Jesus before lectures. Every day, lessons about Jesus and his miracles. Taught about only one God, and that the rest are false. Nuns didn’t allow temple prasad in class. Kids with family issues were given a Bible and prayer beads. People would visit home, telling us how their God was better (I still see this in rural areas today). Moved to Bangalore for engineering. Same thing, but with a slight twist - Christian students canvassing us and the North Indian students. Once, visited their church. The pastor told us we were mistaken and don't pray to stone, pray to true god. We went through all of this without any problem, coz it was normal and just part of life. Then it's not india the world is changing Trump, Elon , J.D. Vance and Tulsi were all liberal Democrats but now turned nationalist Republican, Most EU & Scandinavian countries also following If you can't understand the reasons, then no one will be able to explain them to you,

Cuz if you are calling for secular education, I wouldn't disagree as a Neo-buddhist. I hated praying to God in school which had hindu deities and prayers. My muslim friends weren't particularly happy about this either. Non vegetarian food was prohibited. Only hindu festivals were celebrated. Teacher were all Hindus who btw, never left any stone unturned to verbally shun minorities. Caste consciousness in a negative sense was constantly made to be felt. Plus, kids were horrible as they are in that age against unlikes. However, we went through all that without problems too, it is normal, you're right, it's part of life. We don't choose our school, parents do that for us. And by the time we are intelligent enough to choose or not choose religion or which religion, we are already indoctrinated. But we all have stories. When you say it's a Christian school its implied that education imparted will be highly centred around Christianity. It's like if I go to a madrasa (even though they also provide secular education) are primarily providing islamic teaching. Christian missionaries are infamous for being extremely weird not just in India but all around the world. Some Irish friends grew up self loathing and feeling extreme scrupulosity. So, it happens even to Christians themselves in their supposedly Christian west. When they finally moved to America, they found alternative ways of spirituality much later in life. Again, normal. Forceful religious instruction is condemnable and must be fought against fiercely. All power to those doing so. But if your only point somehow is Hindu khatre mein hai, then I vehemently disagree. If you can't see what's changed in India for the worst and the reasons, then no one will be able to explain them to you. My limited point about changes occuring was about the way we have handled incivility, increased hatred, crippling institutions, people flip flopping to find relevance(and that's fine btw their choice) Again,it's normal; leaves blow in the direction of the wind. India wasn't perfect earlier either obviously. What has become more problematic today is also a remnant of the past. If it was fixed earlier, we wouldn't have the underlying embers that are now being ignited to its max capacity. You have somehow created a grand narrative of nationalism and republicanism growing feet because of Trump-Elon joker duo coming to power which is always misplaced. All these issues including democratism , republicanism, humanism or nationalism are real and valuable. They keep getting recycled back and forth and stronger/weaker according to the needs of the hour/narrative of the time. There was no time in history when the tide changed and stayed permanent worldwide. Maybe because you're a 90's kid and started following politics later now wish to superimpose what happend in India onto the entire world. Liberal and conservative systems are questioned all around the world periodically. It is the right thing to do. But some people nowadays carry it too far and declare demise of one or the other side. Lastly, a side may not just be popular because of the ideology they espouse but also because of how far they are willing to take their insanity levels to convince people; by hook or by crook. It also matters what leadership options are available. Additionally, people respond to real problems they face : Ex- border crisis in USA, authoritarianism in Pakistan and Bangladesh, corruption in India (2014), civil wars in African countries, Trudeau's fuck ups in Canada, USA voting dems (2020), Javier Milei (2023), Kier Starmer (2024), Germany's mili jhuli alliance to go finally (2024) etc etc. Whoever can solve current problems is mostly welcomed. I don't disagree that the world has changed. It is always changing; sometimes for the better ,and other times for the worse. Sometimes left, then right. I wish to follow what's happening close home rather than the entire world.

Taught about only one God, and that the rest are false. Nuns didn’t allow temple prasad in class.

People would visit home, telling us how their God was better (I still see this in rural areas today).

Same thing, but with a slight twist - Christian students canvassing us and the North Indian students.
Once, visited their church. The pastor told us we were mistaken and don't pray to stone, pray to true god.

What's your point though? Cuz if you are calling for secular education, I wouldn't disagree as a Neo-buddhist. I hated praying to God in school which had hindu deities and prayers. My muslim friends weren't particularly happy about this either. Non vegetarian food was prohibited. Only hindu festivals were celebrated. Teacher were all Hindus who btw, never left any stone unturned to verbally shun minorities. Caste consciousness in a negative sense was constantly made to be felt. Plus, kids were horrible as they are in that age against unlikes.
However, we went through all that without problems too, it is normal, you're right, it's part of life. We don't choose our school, parents do that for us. And by the time we are intelligent enough to choose or not choose religion or which religion, we are already indoctrinated. But we all have stories.
When you say it's a Christian school its implied that education imparted will be highly centred around Christianity. It's like if I go to a madrasa (even though they also provide secular education) are primarily providing islamic teaching. Christian missionaries are infamous for being extremely weird not just in India but all around the world. Some Irish friends grew up self loathing and feeling extreme scrupulosity. So, it happens even to Christians themselves in their supposedly Christian west. When they finally moved to America, they found alternative ways of spirituality much later in life. Again, normal. Forceful religious instruction is condemnable and must be fought against fiercely. All power to those doing so.
But if your only point somehow is Hindu khatre mein hai, then I vehemently disagree. If you can't see what's changed in India for the worst and the reasons, then no one will be able to explain them to you.
My limited point about changes occuring was about the way we have handled incivility, increased hatred, crippling institutions, people flip flopping to find relevance(and that's fine btw their choice) Again,it's normal; leaves blow in the direction of the wind. India wasn't perfect earlier either obviously. What has become more problematic today is also a remnant of the past. If it was fixed earlier, we wouldn't have the underlying embers that are now being ignited to its max capacity.
You have somehow created a grand narrative of nationalism and republicanism growing feet because of Trump-Elon joker duo coming to power which is always misplaced. All these issues including democratism , republicanism, humanism or nationalism are real and valuable.
