The nice thing about most Maneskin songs is that they illicit different reactions from different people, yet most people can relate to their music and also like it. That is part of their artistic talent! This is a great ballad, it does end abruptly but feels ok. I didn’t get creeped out, and I find both Damiano and Vic very enchanting in this video.
I guess he looks to the camera, because he is singing (they are playing) directly to Valentine.... and Valentine is YOU (us!). That's how i feel it. One thing i've noticed in common on most of their songs, they always start slower, and go on a crescendo, and then it ends when nobody's expecting, usually after a guitar solo.
The video is very beautiful and looks like a film, but in reality it is a music video, and 90% of the artists who shoot a video watch it in the camera. You were fooled by the fact that it looks like a movie.
The only thing that bothers me in the video is the slight out of sync, but that's my professional bias. I find the choice to look into the camera absolutely perfect, it is a further declaration of sincerity, whether real or acted. In short, everything is subjective.
A singer is not like an actor who escapes the camera. The singer always looks into the camera if he performs on a stage. So I don't find it that strange.
I liked the song. Very passionate. Damiano's vibrato and vocal approach at 2:16 reminds me of Muse's lead singer's vocal style which I enjoy. I didn't find his brief stares objectionable, but they were uncomfortable to you, so I understand. Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you next week!🥰
I kept waiting for Damiano to flip into a head voice/high mix like Muse's Matt Bellamy to complete the comparison, but it never came. It's funny though because I only discovered Muse about a year ago (New Born). Tonight I listened to about a dozen of their songs and can see why they are so popular. It's true what they say...as a geologist, I have lived under a rock! @@easyfunkycrazy
The reason why these songs were added is that each album for them represents a piece of their journey: these songs belong to Rush's journey, but perhaps they weren't ready when the album came out. In reality Trastevere shouldn't have been included because it doesn't belong to Rush, it was written as a demo in 2021 (they presented it at the concert in Rome, at the Circo Massimo). They worked on it for a long time, it was conceived and written in Rome and if you listen to it carefully you will hear the difference with Rush's other songs (perhaps with the exception of Il dono della Vita)
I appreciate your reaction and would like to clarify something about the video that you find strange. First - Maneslin never do anything by accident. For this reason, I understand looking into the camera as a way to draw the listener even more fully into the emotion and message of the song, and is absolutely an effect, not a defect. Especially when it's done well, as in this case, you feel like it's just you and Damiano. This makes the experience much more personal and intimate. This is my opinion, which you don't have to accept. Thanks for your reaction.😄
Certo, ma c'è una differenza tra il mio stile di video e il loro. Nei film, ad esempio, gli attori non guardano quasi mai la telecamera. Ma comunque, adoro la canzone. E grazie per aver commentato!
I think many fans do like him staring at the camera. I think they released these five songs to sing a few new songs live because they wi ll be having a longish break after this tour ends on Tuesday.
You're obviously here to give us "your"reaction, and that's perfectly okay to me, but how could the eyecontact bother you?!? It's the most beautiful way of interacting with a stranger...for human beings and even animals...eyes don't lie!! You should enjoy it!!

Interesting how we got opposite understandings from the same thing! That's why I like making these videos. 😃
Thank you!

I adore the song! Just found that directorial choice odd 🤣
I'll have to check that time stamp specifically because I love Muse, too!

Thanks! I'm glad you felt that way 😃
Didn't your mother teach you that the eyes are the windows of the soul?
Ma tu non la guardi la camera quando fai i video?
Ma infatti, mo pure lo sguardo in camera, ce ne dev'essere sempre una, mah
