You perfectly encapsulated the Mich/MSU dynamic. I've screen-capped your comment so that I can better describe this dynamic to MSU fans. Also, for when they inevitably take this video down, haha.
@@alexbriggs3456 how is Michigan to blame, for walking down the tunnel? What exactly could’ve warranted being held down and hit on your bare head with a helmet, or attacked 6v1 ?
you say it will eventually bleed over to the stands? I'm a UM fan and I have quite a few very good MSU friends that convinced me to join them at Spartan Stadium in 2011 (well before Jim Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor). Of course we were decked out in Michigan gear and cheered for our team (you're allowed to do that as a fan. MSU fans cheer on their team in the Big House every time and good for them). However, my wife was shoved twice while walking up the stairs and the second I tried to step in, I was threatened with an epic beatdown by a dozen Spartan "men" sitting there. We were heckled the entire time (fine fine.. it's a rivalry, but the profanity around the children was a bit much). In the 4th quarter, when Michigan was not going to come back, us (and a few other Michigan fans that were sprinkled in the area) had trash thrown on us until we walked out with 4 minutes to go in the 4th. On the way out, both my wife and I each had sodas dumped on us. The only reason that it did not turn into a fight that day was because I was smart enough to know that I'm not going to survive that fight (and I don't want to be on some blooper RUclips video getting my ass beat in the stands like you see at some NFL games). What I'm trying to say is that this has already bled over to the stands.. Well, WELL before the Harbaugh days. I can't speak for the MSU experience at Michigan Stadium, but I know the section that I sit in (corner end zone - away side), I have never seen MSU, OSU, or any other opponent fan treated that way. That doesn't meant it doesn't happen, but just my observations. My friends tried to get me to return to Spartan Stadium in 2013, but that wasn't going to happen. No reason to subject myself and/or my wife to abuse/assault, whatever you want to call it, again.
I had season tickets for 10 years in the 90s at Spartan Stadium. And I agree, MSU fans didn't want UM fans attending. It's been heated as long as I can remember. It didn't help that all Detroit radio had asshat arrogant UM personalities that called MSU things like little-brother. Or that there was constant disrespect. It's not all one-sided. But what happened on Saturday could have been prevented, instead Harbaugh ignored it and encouraged his players to taunt (see MSU players going to locker room on the field, see PSU game prior, see OSU game last year). Harbaugh has dragged UM's program into the mud, you should be ashamed.
@@YTSparty Definitely could of been prevented. MSU needs to get rid of Tucker and his poor leadership and thug mentality. At least it's better than when Dantonio created the culture of going back to campus and assaulting women.
@@RamBro3 The funny thing is, Hardballs thinks this only hurts MSU. But it's hurting UM recruiting. What parent wants to send their kid to a school that encourages taunting and potential BRAWLS. This whole situation is being used against UM in recruiting. It's hurting both schools, but Harbaugh is the clown that's pushing it.
@@YTSparty No one is encouraging potential brawls and every team taunts in every rivalry game. Completely over the line and unacceptable behavior by an undisciplined and broken MSU team. #NoExcuses
@@RamBro3 Look for Franklin post-game Michigan-PSU game. Look for video of PSU/OSU games. Harbaugh has control over this, but is letting it get out of control. Comparing Jim Harbaugh to Donald Trump (and saying Harbaugh wanted this kind of violence) in their opening segment today was disappointing and I was disappointed in 97.1.
Both sides have been chirping at eachother way more than necessary for years. Saying Michigan played a part is kinda weak. There part of the rivalry? We’ve been talking smack to each other for 10 years little sister? And all that. Playing with a chip on their shoulder and so on. Fact is msu players escalated things by giving a guy a concussion
👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 Well said Antwan… Get em’ Valenti and Rico both said it wasn’t the victim’s fault, then proceeded to make 1 million excuses and blamed many others for how and why it happened.
The fact that this was your take away from what happened after the game just shows exactly who you are when it comes to the rivalry Mike. You’re a clown, and your giant red shoes are showing. Were I you, I’d have been embarrassed to have even considered uttering this on the air.
@@unvrknow22 well I'm in pharmacy school and this is not a deep discussion. It's assault off the field because you can't control your emotions. If I don't control mind people die.
Both sides have definitely done things to ratchet up the rivalry. However, MSU players and MSU players alone took it to the next level by assaulting UM players. Nothing that happened previously justifies what happened Saturday night or made it inevitable. Harbaugh didn't cause this, the MSU players did. Get control of your emotions.
Valenti and Rico are about done.. their actions lately and the attitude about the situation is actually disgusting. The things said about the altercation should get the these guys taken down. Absolutely appalling and gross behavior
The player that got thrashed around in the tunnel was going back with state because he was going to see his father who is a trucker and has to leave right after the game. He does this almost every game. The other Michigan player who got hit with a helmet multiple times was not even fully dressed and was headed back for his ACL treatment. MSU and there culture are the problem .
Neither team does but this is clearly in a different category and as such bringing up what the other side did in the other category is irrelevant. Side not I thought Juwan Howard looked like an idiot for what he did and thought he probably should have been fired, but figured he wouldn’t because he’s the first minority coach. However if he had connected he would have been fired and. Well the msu players did connect. …
Don’t be surprised if you stoke then flames and something happens? Bro, you’ve been stoking the flames in this town for 20 years. I guess you should keep your head on a swivel?
Why is this show even on with 2 ridiculously biased pro-spartan dudes on here? Get rid of the Uncle Tom & put Devin Gardner on there to balance the perspectives out. SMH.

Every topic on this show is for shock! Under the guise, I went to school for this I'm a professional I get paid to have a take. The takes r about getting ratings! Lol this show sucks always has!! I'm out not interested!
Stop making excuses for MSU. Trash talk is one thing, actual physical harm is another. No Michigan player has ever acted violently off the field in the way those MSU players have. You're part of the problem by continuing to make excuses.
This is such a terrible take. All you need to say is the MSU players were completely in the wrong for escalating this to the level of violence. Full stop. No further comment needed.
The young man that ran up the tunnel, was going to see his father. His father is a trucker and he drove up to see his son play... That's why he ran up the tunnel so early. I didn't know that myself, so I'm sure neither Rico or Mike knew either... To say that you don't condone the fight, while saying that Michigan had it comin, is a bit far fetched
Dantonio made the rivalry toxic by parading around the field with the Bunyan trophy-never done before him. Paul Bunyan remained in the locker rooms. Dantonio also used negative things like disrespect and hatred to motivate players, and Tucker has continued that taking an entire week programming these players to hate Michigan. What happened is a result of that, and MSU and the players who committed felonious assault are the only ones to blame!
This show is so TRASHY!!!!! Trying to deflect from the assault and blame UM for little brother not being able to control themselves is PATHETIC!!!! OWN UP TO WHATS WRONG!!!!!
We didn’t take Paul to the student section or “family section” in 2018 that’s literal misinformation, they went to midfield and to our band and away fans in the endzone. The Devin Bush “incident” was before the game, and he was not attacking a groundskeeper you’re literally lying.
That entire tunnel incident is nothing more than little sister being little sister. They just had to send a player there when he wasn't even supposed to be there and then he shot his mouth off. New video also shows the um player THROWING THE FIRST PUNCH. Why are we not surprised? Little sister.
This is why no one has respect for the MSU program. It is why you don't get the national attention that you so desperately crave. You are a bush-league football program supported by children.
I think people just like to argue. A fight went down in a rivalry game. Players involved were suspended and the helmet swinger is in big trouble. What more do people want? Heads on spikes? This is far from the worst thing that's ever happened in college ball.
Please look up how many personal fouls have taken place and on what side in the past 5-10 years .. MSU produces these types of people .. even on the basketball court AKA draymond..
and rico there's a difference between trying to leave and going to the locker room or trying to leave and cornering the only person you see in and blue and holding him down and hitting him with a helmet. you guys are pathetic
What did Dantonio do? How bout all the cheap shots on Denard Robinson? And who started the parade of Paul Bunyan on the field after the game??…. Dantonio. Dude changed everything sorry. Has Michigan reacted to it? Sure. And done some of our own stuff as well. But Dantonio is the start not Harbaugh
i....dont even know where Michael is going with this. First, we're talking about JJ and Blake Corum making a few comments which apparently means you shouldn't be surprised if you get whacked in the head by someone swinging a helmet. then we go on to how Jim Harbaugh is a media savant, then. we get to Devin Bush who hasn't even been playing college football in 3+ years. Valenti has always been kind of a loser which is way he hasn't moved on from 97.1 and needs a token MSU brother so massage his ego.
Both teams played part in what happened. I’m a Michigan fan but those guys should be celebrating rather than running into the locker room to spark more flares. What MSU did was unacceptable, but it could’ve been prevented.
Well said. Where was security staff in the tunnel? Especially after the dust up with PSU and Franklin/Harbaugh each trading barbs in mid week pressers about the exact same thing. Maybe a PSU player who played HS or 7on7 ball with MSU guy told them it was likely to happen. Sucks it happened but for the Wolverines to deny any blame at all is nonsensical.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Harbaugh orchestrated the whole thing. You see him squeezing all he can get out of it. MSU is matching UM in recruiting, the best way to stop that is drag MSU thru the mud like this. LIke Mike said, HARBAUGH WANTED THIS TO HAPPEN. Prove me wrong.
A question: why did these two Michigan players left their team on the field and inserted themselves deliberately among Michigan State players in the tunnel?! What did they say to Michigan State players that enraged them and provoked them?!!!
Probably something to the effect of haha, how does it feel to lose????...or msu sucks or that Bunyan trophy is here to stay etc. Is it at all reasonable to assume the msu players said something back to them? What did they say? Is the camera audible enough to pick up what was said, between both parties? Is there shit talking on the field that warrants flags and unsportsmanlike penalties????......yes. Does jawing back and forth warrant 4 -5 players jumping one to two players?? Valenti will say the exact same thing in the reverse......." it's been building up for a long time, and Michigan is simply too arrogant to take a loss, so they jump 2 msu players"......there s some context for them both. In the long run, who does this incident benefit????.......I don't paint broad brushes when it comes to people, just similarities when it comes to thier behavior but it recognizing the differences within the similarities. If you think msu won't be negatively recruited, think again, because all any coach in the big ten has to do, is to show them the video. It's absolute BS, but it's part of the game.
One player had an acl problem all season I think, and didn't even play in the game, soon as the game was over he was walking back to the locker room. Idk about gemon green tho
It doesn't matter what was said or done. You have to show class and refrain, not use assaulting because you have the numbers. I can't believe people are sticking up for these players.
Well MSU got their cheap piece of flesh what a thuggish school those players have to be bounced, & sacked what adjective you'll like to use from the team ASAP! Told ya guys you got asses kicked next if "Sparty" has the same season as this one HC-M.T.! is next. Always Goblue🤘🏼!!!!
Other than MSU players should be punished, they went on and on about what Michigan has done for years. “No excuses” and then go on with a million excuses of what Michigan did to cause this.
Juwan Howard punched a coach on the court. Slap on the wrist for a coach in charge of a program. Any wolverine fan yelling about the helmet swinger to be prosecuted should have wanted Howard gone too. If not they're hypocrites. Dude was twice as old as every kid on the court and acted more immature than all of them. And yes like Valenti said helmet swinger should be gone, all others gone for season and more if additional video warrants it. Big house security has some blame here too. Better double security staff for remainder of year and B1G should fine them if they don't and something else happens.
Michigan fan here. Listen literally the only guy that should have anything happen to him his number 14 the helmet swinger. The other 4 are kids that let there emotion get the best out of them. I don’t want to see the other 4 have a criminal charge against them. Unless the Green or Mcborrow have an injury that will not allow them to play ever again that should be it.
@@KA-vl5jq I didn’t call anyone of these kids soft. But if my kid was just a lil hang up I would want them to get on that press conference stage and say I don’t want any of these kids suspended because I’ll see them on the field next season.
the university is just as culpable because they knew there was only one way on and off the field and the location of both locker rooms being that close together there isnt enough security to prevent players from fighting in the tunnel if they want to and the history of altercations proves it
Michigan walked in with both PSU and OSU players after their games with no problems. And blaming Harbaugh is outright ridiculous. You both are desperate for finding ways to exonerate MSU.
So Mark dantonio has never stirred the rivalry? I want you to think long and hard about that one. Mike, are you sure? Because I can think of a lot of times when Mark dantonio has done. Things; case in point, when they came on the field early and we had the Devin Bush and sent it and they weren't even supposed to be on the field. But of course you don't want to talk about that, let's not mention that, because then your team would look guilty.
So you mean to tell me that if you were a senior that had beaten your rival all 4 years of your college career, you and your fellow seniors wouldn’t hold up 4s
No I would do it too. I was responding to the claim that Rico and Mike made which was that msu is more worried about celebrating with their team than taunting. Michigan was taunting msu and msu does it too. I was thinking to myself it’s a bad look when Michigan was doing it. Both teams do petty things. But there is a clear bright white line here when it’s an assault that is this violent. He was hitting him as hard as he could with a helmet, and yes I get it they said that it’s wrong. But because there is this clear distinction it isn’t relevant what petty stuff each side has done.
This time but how many times during the Mark Dantonio era when Michigan state was beating down Michigan especially after the little brother coming the stuff the fans were saying about Michigan even the players so now you're not playing soft Michigan no more and these boys got hurt Madison issue and you still pulled a 10 on One beat down who does that.
Mike is 100% correct on this. To act as though Harbaugh and his boys don't do anything to agitate matters is simply asinine. Yes, a UM player got hit with a helmet in the tunnel by one of 4 guys and that is wrong on all accounts and they should be suspended and the helmet swinger should face whatever just is coming his way BUT listening to Harbaugh go on, you would think the kid was shot, dismembered and his torso hung from the press box. Get ready to hear this for months on end. Harbaugh will harp on this forever in an effort to gain facetime long after the rest of the world has forgotten. Perhaps an annual day of remembrance is in line? There is a reason why Harbaugh is one of the most hated coaches in America including Ann Arbor just 1 1/2 years ago.
This time but how many times during the Marc Anthony era when Michigan state was beating down Michigan especially after the little brother coming the stuff the fans were saying about Michigan even the players so now you're not playing soft Michigan no more and these boys got hurt Madison issue and you still pulled a 10 on One beat down who does that
This disrespect did not start with Harbaugh. It started with little brother which lit the embers that have become a fire. What I saw with Harbaugh's comments looked more like a recruitment video to parents then what you claim it to be. Comparing trashing locker rooms, things that have been said, or any other non-violent action that a UM player has participated in is not close to the same level of what happened in that tunnel. If you truly believed your words that no matter how bad UM players sportsmanship has been it does not justify MSU responding with violence. Then why all of this BS about the past, things that were said, locker rooms, and that those 2 kids had this coming because of all of those things in the past? You're talking out of both sides of your mouth. Since everything that was done and said in the past does not make it okay for MSU to react with violence then these things are irrelevant to the conversation, yet you're harping on them. So yeah, you are justifying it by making these things part of the conversation. These things are completely irrelevant to the crimes that were committed in that tunnel, unless they're used to justify the actions that were taken. Either own it or don't, you're talking like a politician. As much as we hate them for it, Karen's have a constitutional right to be a b****, and UM players have a constitutional right to be a Karen. Personally, I don't completely put this on UM or MSU. I put this on the police that were present and did nothing. Every video available at this time I see an officer watching everything happen, doing nothing to try and stop it, and doing nothing to follow up. I understand they can't just walk to the locker room to question players, but there should have at least been a call to their superior to explain what has happened and make a decision on what to do. It should not take the coach of the opposing team to call for a criminal investigation on national TV of a criminal act when that act was performed in front of LE. If those troopers cared at all about their responsibility then it is likely that they would have intervened to stop what was happening in the tunnel before it went too far. Instead they acted as glorified security guards with no intention on doing their jobs that day. Because of that we are now talking about all of this BS and MSU kids hyped up on adrenaline would not be in a position to lose everything they have worked for. This event can greatly affect their future depending on where this goes. Think about it, you have kids on scholarships that are dependent on those scholarships and depending on how this investigation turns out those kids can not only get kicked off of the team and lose any chance at pro ball, but also lose their scholarships to MSU, get kicked out of school, and face felony charges as young adults which will follow them for the rest of their lives. All because the police would rather watch than do their job. It is pathetic, those cops did more than drop the ball, they were negligent in their duties and I am disappointed that the nation is not talking about that at all, but instead hyper focusing on the rivalry.
Thank God Mike is telling the truth about this whole thing everybody else seems like they're scared to say that the Michigan players wanted this to happen
Constantly issues with UofM getting into problems with other teams. If you keep smelling shit, check your own shoes. It runs from football to basketball- remember Juwan throwing a punch? LOL. Nothing happens to him though.
Time to boycott this group and the entire radio station in general, hopefully that will bring changes at this station. These two are morally and intellectually bankrupt to resort to victim blaming a flat out criminal assault. Disgusting behavior, I get that you work at a third rate radio station in a third rate city but come on guys .
Everybody in this rivalry on both sides are just a bunch of whiny little babies. I used to root for Michigan until I realized how annoying the fanbase was. But MSU fans are proving they aren’t much better. This is literally no different than American politics. You’re biased towards one side and refuse to ever look the other way or listen to what anybody who you’d consider the “bad guys” has to say. Grow tf up and realize that sports rivalries aren’t the most important thing in the world. I mean you play your rivals once out of 365 days a year.
I keep saying this. Every time Tressel, Urban and Day beat Harbaugh, it was, "that was a great team we beat and have nothing but respect for them". Harbaugh gets his first win, "he's born on 3rd base". Imagine a guy who needed his brother to send him a nfl dc saying someone elss was born on 3rd. He is a deuchebag but michigan fans act high and mighty when they're losing. Last year they finally beat osu in a decade and 2 linemen are trying to fight a db. I can't wait for 11/26
@@justinschust5717 he made a play, both guys on the ground and when brown got up to leave the michigan wr grabbed both his legs and would not let go which led to the helmet being pulled off. Nice try though. Like I said, um fans like to start shit and then act like innocent parties and cry for people to feel sorry for them
I don't understand why it's so hard for people to get this. No, it's not right for our players to have done what they did, but don't act all surprised when Michigan and Harbaugh have nurtured this disrespect and hatred-filled approach to the rivalry, and have allowed for things like this to happen. MSU needs to handle themselves better regardless of this, but Michigan fans just acting like nothing in the past has boiled to this, like nothing from Michigan's end on Saturday night increased hostility. The only thing that made this a joint effort was MSU getting physical on Saturday night, but Harbaugh has a track record, and shouldn't be a manipulative coward through the media. Everything he's ever done has led to this moment, and if anything, he should be ashamed of himself for adding this much fuel to the fire. You reap what you sow...

Naw. I thought that was hilarious. I literally said "boy, that will keep OSU up at night worrying how to defend that". LMFAO. It was so horrible, it made UM look pathetic. It was like Harbaugh had practiced this play all 2 weeks and wanted to run it, and it was a limp dick play. Crappy pass into the dirt. LOL. Just sad. The responsible parties are the Board of Regents at UM and Boss Harbough! There was a prediction by PSU Franklin that the Tunnel situation was not right!

Valenti has always been kind of a loser which is way he hasn't moved on from 97.1 and needs a token MSU brother so massage his ego.
Dantonio started bringing PB out on the field after the game instead of keeping it in the locker room.
Both teams played part in what happened. I’m a Michigan fan but those guys should be celebrating rather than running into the locker room to spark more flares. What MSU did was unacceptable, but it could’ve been prevented.
This where you need the Adults to be Adults and make the decisions that will prevent the opportunity for these situations to happen again.

When msu won their 4th in a row they all put 4 fingers in the Michigan players’ faces.
MSU was late to the game and it was their fault as the big ten decided and why they were fined
I'm sorry a kid got hurt but I don't really care about this story because my Spartans and lions have given me no reason to care this year

Sheeesshhhhh
Cancel the game for a couple years. Have them face someone else.

MSU needs to handle themselves better regardless of this, but Michigan fans just acting like nothing in the past has boiled to this, like nothing from Michigan's end on Saturday night increased hostility.
