I feel your satisfaction, I live in Virginia and occasionally summer vacation in Vermont, new Hampshire and Maine. Most of my purchases were in Maine. Such quality clearance winter clothing!!
Taking the Chap clothes shopping is the best Bromance I have ever seen. Defo a Brother from another Mother. Good effort proving you are not the same person too.
I want. I have a wool problem. Considering all of my wool collection is second hand, the price doesn't scare me as much. Good winter gear absolutely changes your life.
My daily clothes are like 90% varusteleka's. Särmä L1 long johns, TST tactical jeans, L1 and L2 long sleeve shirts, and the merino hoodie. Gotta buy a jacket some day. Whenever I need new clothes, I just stop by their store on my way home from work.
I ended up buying both the smock and jeans because of this video. Both very nice, very comfortable, absolutely worth the money. And the map pockets on the smock are hilarious, they'll fit *anything.*
I love the fact that they've already resolved the "Where is the liquor?" pronunciation of their name by incorporating a bar into the store floor plan... 😁
Those Sarma windproof smocks are a absolutely steal for the money, picked one up in Oxblood last year. The stretch denim on the tactical jeans make them so comfortable. Didn't realize quite how BOTR ready I was 😂😂
I bought the over-the-head version of the windproof last summer and have loved it. So easy to layer under it based on the weather and very reasonably priced.
Bought a tent from them last year. Use it a ton, even just in the back yard. Haven't bought any clothing yet because I run into the Bloke problem of super wide shoulders relative to the rest of me.
I know what you mean. I am 6 foot but three of my great grandfathers were about 6’3” or more. I have the shoulder width but not the height and my shirt size is 4” bigger than my chest measurement indicates. I remember a dickhead at the local army camp clothing store measured my chest when I joined the Territorials and tried to tell me I needed two sizes smaller. I proved him wrong.
I saw Ian have that wool shell and it looked really sweet, so I got one! I love it too! I'm 189 cm an 90 kg so the Long Large fit perfectly. I'll have a look at that wind breaker.
Thanks for explaining why the pockets are placed so high. A lot of my outer shells are set up that way and I wondered. I like that wool shell but would have to wait 10 months (at least) to get to wear it in North Florida.
I love my windproof smock. Its comfortable, warm, protective and practical. I'm 193cm, 100kg, and the Large Long fits perfectly. Long enough to tuck under (the proper way to wear it), and wide enough to get a fleece underneath.
Got one of the Windproofs, well two actually (1 ea colour) and love them. Just had one of their Softshell's arrive, and it's great (as expected) also. The material on the windproof Chappie modelled seemed more sheen/slippery in look and sound, than the very cloth-like feel of mine.
The black smock seems slightly softer than the green one, just a slightly different fabric I guess. I can attest that it is very windproof (and rainproof with enough wax)
I absolutely love the current Finnish digital winter camo pattern (M-05?) from what I've seen demonstrated in videos. As soon as I can sort out the metric size conversions I'm getting a set. It's too bad it's not licensed to other countries and manufactures and made more widely available. It's perfect for the northern taiga forest region where I live.
I wanted to buy the woolshell so bad but arguably the L5 jacket does better to be worn to under L6/M05. I use the Leka hoodie under also so no need for double hood. Polyester jacket packs tighter and is lighter too. But I still want the woolshell for everyday wear
Varusteleka website was the only place i find i could buy Scho-Ka-Kola and have them happy send it to Australia and their customer support was nice when i forgot my to put phone number down for tracking of large order of it later own.
So you gentlemen managed to travel to Finland from Switzerland despite the public health situation. Well done you - lucky chaps. I like the windproof-based waterproof - more zips than the real thing but mine got thrown out many years ago despite an attempt, as it happens, to civilianise it by dying in black.
I got shilled on the woolshell jacket by Bloke originally and got one for myself a couple months, absolutely splendid jacket, very happy with it, but for the love of god don't go with recommend sizing on their website. (I got XL Long recommend, have a Large regular now and fits wayyyyy better. The XL long was quite roomy size for someone 8cm taller and 20kg heavier than myself).
100% windproof without going to a full waterproof plastic thing doesn't exist. It's about as windproof as properly breathable materials can be. I've worn it in a howling gale over the top of my Woolshell and it did a really good job.
If only varusteleka had finnish army poolo shirt it would be my dream come true. Or the legit nallepaita (teddy bear shirt). They were the best clothing. But there are two places I trust in Finland when I need good quality and good looking clothing. That's dressmann and varusteleka. Varusteleka is better and more functional of those, but sometimes you just grab regular casual clothes not for outdoors.
I see what you mean, but when they first started in 00s, their name meant basically dirt cheap surplus. I still have something like six pairs of brown Austrian cargo pants, which were probably something like 10€ each.
@@minuteman4199 with his estimated height “in real money” and the long torso/short legs (I suffer from the same affliction), I would assume 32”/32” would be just right.
I try to avoid going to these places now because I can't be trusted to not buy *all the things* So Chap is basically the guntube equivalent of Chun Li with a tiny waist and hench thighs? My waistline is 50% extra compared to his 😭😱😩
Just got my first order, merino wool socks and gloves. I keep looking at the merino hoodie, but worried that my American laundering obsession would lead me to ruin it.
I have a bunch of the wool t shirts and a couple of the merino turtlenecks. I just pop them in the machine and they are good to go. Best winter layers I own.
Love Varusteleka, quality goods, fast shipping, fantastic prices. To the Blokes, take those damm masks off, they are not of any use , they are designed to enslave you this is anathemical to Varusteleka and what they stand for.
It was a pleasure to have you guys visit us!
Thanks! It's always a pleasure to be at Leka! Can't wait for the next opportunity later in the year if all goes well!!!!!!
My fiance and I want to visit for our honeymoon. Well.. I want to. 🤣 Also I have the woolshell pants and jacket. They are awesome.
This store is my biggest expense when I go to Finland and I am not complaining!

FYI: The jeans' small front pockets are for 9mm mags and the back pocket for RK/AK/AR mags.
Thanks for doing this, I have ordered from them but would dearly love to visit the store. And side bonus, chapie is very close to my size and build.
The wool hats are amazing, I haven’t found a better one so far!
That moment where you realize you've been wearing the semi-official BotR uniform since 2018 without even noticing :V
Ditto right here. I put in a big order with them in, like, November '18, and the smock and shell have been in heavy rotation ever since.

We did indeed within the bounds of the local regs.

First surplus I have seen in months ..... ( brushes away a tear.).
Seems to be well made. If I'm in the market for a jacket again I'll definitely buy this. Their shipping is ridiculously cheap.

"CONSUME!" 😁
I have a DPM smock that I use for hunting I absolutely love it. I joke that I have lots of room for snacks in all the pockets
The one I had fitted well in the body but the sleeves only came up to behind the wrists. Probably the result of many years of boil washing 😆
I grabbed a MTP version from them. It does have all the zips like the Särmä version.
At the risk of being crude, since urine is a big no no while hunting. An air-tight laundry detergent bottle keeps the smell contained.
The hood strap is a good idea. Keep it simple. I was however, worried, that Chap was going to do a disco routine at one stage.
🕺🏻

I have one of those smocks for walking dogs and rough shooting.
Have you thought of procuring one of their Hardshell Jackets to test?
Edelweisshemd in a Finnish store, nice touch Bloke! Way to export Swiss culture!
I have had a few things from Varusteleka. My only trouble is I can never spell their name. I wish they would call themselves Bob instead. :)
It's not that hard. Va-rus-tel-e-ka.
But then you would have to say it as Rowan Sebastian Atkinson

So everything is metric, except jean sizes?
Euro jean sizes aren't metric either - I take a size 48, which is arbitrary (and corresponds to 32"x32")
@@BlokeontheRange Ah - I assumed the numbers he said were waist and inseam in inches, which is how we still measure them in nominally metric Canada.

A truly metric jeans size system does not exist, and to be honest, this is one of the cases, where inches are more natural than centimeters.
How’s your Finnish coming along ?
