What other woollen Varusteleka goodies have you had experience with? I've used their L1 balaclava and liner gloves to good effect when temperatures hit single digits and below; the combined comfort and breathability of merino wool is something you have to experience to fully understand. I'm especially impressed by their new Hardshell Jacket (as seen in 11:51 and 12:06). Despite ordering one without ever trying, it fit me well regardless of whatever combination of layers I wanted to use. It lives up to its name as a fully weatherproof but still potentially sweat-inducing garment, yet the armpit zips give the jacket all the ventilation one could want to balance out the weatherproofing, even if you've got just short-sleeved garments under it.

I viewed their site and placed a small order yesterday. I really enjoyed their product description humor, seeing the variety of military surplus from so many different nations and of course the Swedish "Commando" underpants, navy model, surplus. On the serious side, recommend viewing the World War Two RUclips channel videos on the Soviet invasion of Finland in 1939 beginning with the title, The Winter War December 1, 1939. What the Finnish military accomplished in the defense of their homeland against such overwhelming odds is amazing. Hand Salute.
I love their item descriptions. Like I was looking for surplus knives or whatever, and one of the item descriptions read something like "honestly kinda shit and not worth but if you're looking for something really cheap i guess this is fine" or something along those lines. Definitely honest in their reviews and descriptions. Also always quick to respond to emails etc.
I recently placed an order from Varusteleka on a Tuesday morning. The package was in my hands on Friday afternoon, and I live in Atlanta, Georgia! Amazing service, by Varusteleka and DHL.
Huge thanks for giving us this tour. I've been Varustelekas local Finnish customer for over a decade now but have never gotten a chance to see behind the scenes to the office and the warehouse.

Couldn't agree more...every time I purchase from them, it arrives promptly and well packed. All the products they produce have been first rate, and all the surplus has been better than advertised condition. All in all a first rate surplus /outdoor supply company!
ROFL!!... Simo Häyhä picture on the wall... Corporate dog... Guns nonchalantly lying around the office... Random guy with accordion.... LOL. That must be the dopest company ever. :D Greetings from the Czech republic. Awesome video. :)
To be a little frank about the guns, they're all deactivated (at least if anyone asks) to legal standards in Finland. It's not just firearms casually scattered about. Any active firearms in the premises would be in a proper gun safe for safety and legal reasons. Just so nobody thinks they scatter guns about and handle them haphazardly.
After watching this video, I ordered a British surplus rain jacket. It arrived in new condition, still in factory wrapper. Shipping from Finland to Tennessee took only two days. Looking forward to ordering more stuff from here.
I've been a customer for quite a while and am happy (ecstatic) about everything I've got from Varusteleka. Finding out that Ian was also a fan/customer reinforced the coolness of this company. I like these kinds of videos a lot. Love the main Forgotten Weapons and InRange stuff too of course, but it's interesting to see a lot of the behind the scenes stuff like this, as well as the one on Polaris Logistics and the one where you opened a giant crate of guns. Cool to see you branching out with another kind of content and I hope you make more.

Thanks for the inside scoop Ian. I've also used Varusteleka for years and their service is second to none. My wife has two Finnish surplus gasmask bags that she uses for purses. Then u go to our state owned liquor store called Alko, then make the mistake to try to bribe our cops when they stop u for something. Maybe bn to sauna before that. Then visit the mattrress. That's basically Finnish expirence in a nutshell. :D or u can do almost all these things in My Summer Car.
InrangeTV introduced me to them. Now they are my go to place for pretty much anything clothing related!
Best surplus store in europe. The austrian and swiss stuff is unbelieveably good. Add their unique sense of humor, and there you go...
Any Finnish Clothing/surplus store with a bar and an in-house accordianist gets my money! I just hope they're not sold out....
The owner seems to be 100% on the Good side and selling out would be the opposite of that. Lets hope Jari does a good job and there is no reason to sell out.
Greetings from the Czech republic.
Thank you for this video. I bought a M05 kilt because of it.
Awesome!
Thanks a lot! I ordered stuff from Varusteleka during the past few years and I've been always happy with their products and customer support.
Why has no one commented on the "OLD JOKES" department. I freaking love these guys!
I knew I wouldn't be the only one! I recall Luke from 'The Outdoor Gear Review' channel being sent one of those items : -)
This (reference?) went whoosh over my head, someone please explain
@@qqnqqpart visit the website?
@@engineeredlifeform I have, many a times, is it a section there or something?
@@qqnqqpart yes, look around for a bit and you should find it.
God i love varusteleka. Truly a fantastic company, through and through.
i love that store and it's awesome to see one of my favorite youtubers hitting it up.
Great show and I can't wait to check out the store
online. Thanks!
They also have some decent and good value in house brand outdoor knifes that I'm not even going to try to type their name .
You mean the Terävä brand? It literally translates to Sharp in english.
And then there's the coolness factor at the post office when they ask, "Another package from Helsinki?" Good stuff. Thanks
"What marketing dept. doesn't need a panzerfaust?" LOL, indeed!
How else can they take over the sauna?
Sometimes you just need faust some panzers
Brilliant video, I love these guys ,bought some lovely stuff over the years 👌
Jesus just the consistent camera quality and smoothness is amazing
Was really expecting Jari to show up with two suomis and ask what you thought you were doing
that looks like a brand new building. The internets have been good to Varusteleka.
Our old building was literally breaking apart around us, so we're really glad we got offered the chance to relocate. While there were considerable new building problems, we've now settled in and our vision of Total World Domination is chugging along nicely thanks to the practical and larger-than-before base of operations!
InRange introduced me to Varusteleka. I have ordered a few times, and visited Helsinki/Varusteleka on a stopover en-route to Japan in November 2019. (I used Varusteleka base layer items to keep the extra packing under 1kg)
Thanks Ian , really impressive company/shop/products for sure .
''Finland, Finland, Finland,
The country where I want to be,
Pony trekking or camping,
Or just watching TV,
Finland, Finland, Finland,
It's the country for me.''
Leka.
They sure know how to brand their stuff and make themselves known.
I shop less with Leka now that the best old stuff is sold off, but I wholeheartedly support thrm and have a group of items I regularly restock.
"Got one, got one, got one, need one..."
Need only one🤔
literally me at my old, local gun shop. they were fudd as hell but holy crap they had a full wall of class 3 stuff. I was having an emotional affair with a freaking BAR for like a year.
It's nice to see where all my goodies come from. Love this place!
I am a big fan of yours and your stuff from Germany. Great Video, thanks for that. I am also a big Star Wars Fan and enjoyed seeing the Original Movie Posters at the beginning!
Thanks for showing us. I love that store!
Pretty cool beans! Thanks for opening up the possibilities!
I work in a warehouse for a billion dollar corporation here in the US, and we are lucky if the bathroom gets cleaned everyday
Usually small companies care - yes they care for their workers becz happy worker is an efficient one, multi-billion ones dont care, they will have $$$ even if work is inefficient...
Their shop floor music is damn good taste as well - haven't heard Foot Tapper by The Shadows in donkeys ages :D
Thanks for inadvertently answering the question I didn't ask about the music lol
Back in the 80's I got all my gear from a store in Toronto called Hercules. Since they shut down I haven't been able to find a comparable supplier.... until I recently discovered Varusteleka. It's like being a kid in a candy store... I'm in love! Even my kid loves their gear... into the bush we go!
Amazing company, I have bought from them a few times. They are simply the best when it comes to it. And shipping to the UK is affordable.
I've been shopping on line with Varusteleka for years. It's nice to see what the new store looks like.
I believe that viewers appreciate your sharing information on recommendable suppliers and manufacturers of high quality gear, equipment, accessories and clothing.
It would be highly unlikely for your viewers to make negative assumptions about your reasons for doing so because they'll accept the sincerity that motivates your recommendation!
You are liked and respected by your viewers and recommending a good supplier is not going to change that, except maybe for them liking and respecting you some more!
That is the Janitorial Closet got me good. Also I've gotten all my rain kit from Varustekleka I can attest too the surplus store scent, my poncho had to be washed and then go threw 4 or 5 hikes in the rain before it was relatively normal smelling. I have one of their 3 day packs as well, it is very good.

That ventilation is worth it's weight in gold if you're wearing body armor. Even when your whole body can be freezing the torso and underarms are in a sauna with armor Especially under your uniform. A+++ design. I know some chinese makers have done this too for "service jackets" or whatever these can be called but you cannot compare them...the material and quality of these finns is top notch
As a Canuck, with similar weather and landscape at my disposal, the Where-is-the-liquor Gear is perfect for my needs. And yes, Woolshell is one of those "why didn't someone do this before?"
ps The US surplus snowshoes were Made in Canada in magnesium alloy and used extensively by our troops. As much as a cross country skier, there is certainly snow that works best with old bear paws, especially when loaded. Speed is an issue ...
I might also suggest that the next time you are up North in Wyoming, you might see about touring Magpul's plant in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It might also be a treat for everyone to see that! Thanks for showing us the Finnish surplus of Varusteleka.
Thanks for the inside scoop Ian. I've also used Varusteleka for years and their service is second to none. My wife has two Finnish surplus gasmask bags that she uses for purses. One in original green, the other that they dyed black and polished the steel hardware. The most unique purses ever used by a school teacher in Phoenix AZ, I'm sure. I wish they had more "Arizona appropriate" gear in stock, but I realise their location and the concept of European surplus doesn't easily lend itself to the blast furnace.
Best advertising is best! Thanks for all the gear Varusteleka.
I bet Ian felt like a child in a candy store
I've bought quite a few items from them, good surplus, cool website, and fast shipping to Canada too!
Great minds think alike! I have replaced most of my cold weather gear with the same clothing line, it is of such great quality that I will continue. The kind of gear that works well in Finland works really well at high altitude here in Colorado.
Excellent shop, living next door to Finland shipping is great. Ordered some blades, thanks for sharing!
I've been a customer of theirs for a good time now. Don't think I've ever been disappointed with a purchase!
Would really, really love to see some more Varusteleka stuff Ian.
:)
such a wonderful place to shop with a fine selection of merchandise!
,,,, plus they have a bar!
👍
Ian, this is fantastic! Thanks for the tour.
I've always been weary about ordering from them but this video really made me feel good to go cant wait to get my merch
Annnnnnnd, I will keep up my Patreon for 2021!! Thanks for keeping it fresh Ian.
Wow that's awesome I'm most definitely going to be checking their website up. I had no clue but thanks to ian there going to be getting some orders from me and others keep up the good work man we appreciate you!!
Never disappointed me. Always quick on shipping and awesome pricing.
I purchased a few items off Varusteleka, including the woolshell jacket (awesome) and the tactical jeans (also awesome). Excellent company to do business with.
I second everything in this vid. Varusteleka gear is fantastic. The Finns are nuts, and I'd love to visit that shop some day. Better not bring my credit card though - I'd buy one of everything.
OWW!! I want that Jacket! Thank you for showing off the Woolshell! :D
Discovered them through your channel and have received a number of orders from them as a result. Great products and excellent shipping. Thanks for the tour. I was trying to look at all of the shelfs as you walked through...
Shout out to Varusteleka, as an avid outdoor enthusiast i own several of their products and I will always treasure my large leuku knife I got from them.
Get the Skrama if you can. Its awesome.
