Still no retrospective recording? Still no key scale lock on piano roll? Please, for the love of workflow...
I think it was a good update. However there are many things they should do before creating new stuff. You must be wondering what:
- A good and simple freeze function
- MIDI comping
- Vídeo suport
- Quantize-stretch onsets for audios
- Resolve the EQ+ (and others) phase and latency issue
- Being able to export in different tracks each pad/instruments of the Drum Machine device
- Capture listening MIDI (like Ableton)
- VariAudio type of editor
- Correct handling of sustain and other pedals in clips (apparently that one is on the road map, I asked).
- Allowing MIDI exports that don't have the entire project in them (e.g. a single clip)
what you counted are mostly basic things, did they really skip these parts? sad. i was thinking to check.
YES! Especially Freeze Function, Quentize-Stretch for audio and EQ+ phase issues.
I'd like to see multi selection of channels or chains respond to a command simultaneously. Eg. Edit sends of selected channels or chains. Route selected channels or chains to a same bus or output.
It would also be great to have input channels (like cubase or studio one) because it is handy sometimes to print audio with fx and so the latency issues are of low impact.
A built-in alignment tool is also a go-to
I am sure they will listen and implement 😌 Let's keep upvoting this comment!
Well, no basic daw functionality improvements. Absolutely cluttered and unusable browser. MSEGs without basic functions. Questionable project and track modulation. Launcher gestures that not that many people use. This update not even worth to have 4.5 number. Bitwig proved to continue the roadmap of creating synthesiser with basic daw functions. I’d prefer other way around. Even ableton latest update looks more useful. I’m outie elsewhere. Thanks bitwig for last 8 years but you f it up. Wrong direction you going bitwig….
I don't like it but have to agree with you... I know they see it as a marketing gamble because it's less shiny, but Bitwig really needs to dedicate one major update for quality of life improvements, piano roll, midi and audio-editing (normalization... Hello!?!?) etc... All the basic stuff that can be found in other DAWs, or is severely lacking in Bitwig. It's not as sexy but so damn necessary, and it might pull users from other DAWs that are now hesitant because of basic stuff that's just not there...
Still no adjustable faders height in mixer?)
Great update. Please give us an option to make to arrangement view darker (black).
begging this as well as step record for years...
the Bitwig theme is TERRIBLE!!!!!
@@Made0nEarth No no no 😳
Please Bitwig, don’t listen to MadeOnEarth. 😁
the current theme is ok... but we need customizable themes. every other big DAW is doing it. it helps stimulate creativity.
Looks fine to me
still no scales in piano roll though?
To be honest: these features don‘t deserve a major release. You should have called it 4.5 and I would have been half as upset as I‘m now. Really deeply disappointed and underwhelmed. No video support, really?!
And you can tell that from a 42 second video!? Get real
@@rorz999 well, they list all what‘s new in Bitwig 5 on their website…
Please we want scale lock and theme change!!!!!
please please please
Not gonna happen, I emailed them years ago…the customer service team basically told me to mind my fuc***g business basically…they could care less….I use fl studio more….Bitwig collects dust, fuck em
YES. SCALE LOCK PLEASE
As far as making music, I'd hope theming is one of the least urgent tasks on the list. I'm thankful for the awesome-looking MSEG's, I certainly wouldn't trade them for a choice of colors.
I was wishing for scale lock like two days ago. 😂
Not the worst problen ever, but does suck.
Are you serious? Is that it?
Boring update. Mostly for sound fiddly random stuff again... Where are the big workflow features to compete with real daws? so sad.
Can we change the background color of main section with midi and audio events and background color for key editor?
It's light grey now,i want to make it dark grey, for example.
Still no gridlines behind clips?
Can you name any logical explanation why gridlines are dissappearing behind audio and midi clips?
To me it goes against any sense of logic!!
How are you supposed to arrange anything detailed when you cant see the gridlines??
You are reinventing the wheel with everything else this DAW does, everything is polished and state of the art. But for whatever reason you decide to ignore even make it optional.
This makes Bitwig unusable to me.
I want to switch, I want to buy your software, I want to support your thing - can you please just add gridlines to the arrangement?!?! Then you can continue with the advanced nerdy features. But please get the base of it right so its actually usable to some of us.
What is so difficult about that?
i wouldn't say Bitwig is completely unusable because of that. I use Bitwig all the time. Especially with its containers it enables a much faster mixing workflow than any other DAW. But apart from that I agree with you and they should really focus more on getting some basics features right. I can also recall moments where I was confused because the absense of grid lines made it hard to perfectly place stuff
@@Beatsbasteln Yeah maybe depends on what you are doing. If you are just arranging some drones or simply dont work in arrangement view, sure you dont care. But usually I arrange tiny glitchy bleeps and bloops, I NEED to have the lines behind it otherwise its just absurd trying to be precise and quick there :|
I mean I kinda see what you’re saying, especially that they seem to overlook basic things sometimes, but I wouldn’t really say MSEGs are some ‘edge case nerdy feature’, as it’s probably been one of if not the most commonly asked for features, it’s become somewhat of a meme at this point even.
@@KYTHERAOfficial I totally agree with you but this is one of the things people look for in a DAW that suits their needs. I cant stand the grid lines or how light everything is in the piano roll or how I enlarge the keys and it keeps shrinking back, or a ton of other features I want and have requested. BUT, if any of them weren't up to par with my workflow enough make me move on, then id move on. Pro-tip: No one is listening 80% of the time. Use CAPS.
@@KYTHERAOfficial i'm definitely not one of those ambient-grid people, but like you, almost exclusively in the arrangement view. that's why i understand your concern. it sometimes feels like micro-arranging things is not something this DAW encourages a lot yet. However, once all the arrangement stuff has been done the workflow is just unmatched, especially regarding midi- and audio-routing and parallel processing setups. That's why I wouldn't be so hard on Bitwig. Instead of saying it's completely unusable I'd just say it's a little rough around the edges
This DAW is ahead of its time, but i miss the grouping of the drum machine individual parts/elements/chain plus an easier choke group assignment.
The powerful sampler should have chopping/slice mode already in it.
UI Theme options
If i am missing something that's already it's beacause i am new to the daw but i am loving it
Me too !!!!
i love bitwig
And still no ability to organically live loop by setting tempo on first recorded loop HUGE oversight imo..#chainedtothemetronome
thank you dear developers, bitwig is the best! om namah shivaya
Guess we are back boys. I forgive the "Spectral drama" .
😂😂😂😂
Well, now I know why you guys took so long to get those darn MSEGs out, you were designing five whole entirely different ones. I think this was the most madlad way to finally finish this complaint once and for all tho.
And they did absolute garbage lacking basic functionality…
@@vroteg Like what? (I’m honestly curious. Not picking.)
Guys, I hope you made a skin editor?
They seem to enjoy ignoring the absolute basics
Instant feature request: Drag n drop between the new MSEGS and automation curves. ;-)
How this company releases this many updates without addressing any of the most requested features made by users is beyond me. I've literally been waiting to buy Bitwig for like 4 years expecting things like MIDI Capture and Auto-slice in the sampler, but it seems like Bitwig doesn't give a shit.
literally? or actually?
@@funkytransport Literally. You can wait while doing something else.
The update is certainly good, but I expected something different (the highlighting of minor-major tonalities in pianoroll... is not implemented. Many DAW's already have it, but not here (it makes melody and chord composing much easier)
I suspect there is a long list of tiny things like these and one cannot blame them for not getting around to every single one of these. I'd love to have region markers for example (so to mark an area instead of a point in time -- and then being able to export those region markers automatically would probably save me an hour every week.
I think so far they have managed an okay mix of new features and adressing these papercuts. They just need to make sure not to forget these seemingly very "basic" things in favour of flashy new tools.
I learned music theory. Works just as well, if not better.
@@unduloid yeah I know major and minor chords
LOL.. BUUUUUUURN :) @@unduloid
I don't like the new browser I was using many collections to organize my content (vst, racks, presets) (by instrument, genre, feature ect) because the categories are not editable but you made it worse and made everything I did useless by putting them in another tab, so please go back, or an easy solution: make the categories editable! I like that you added MSEG but I'm sticking with bitwig 4 until then. (btw would love you if you added subcollections)
you can add the collections to the main view. but it seems a little buggy at the moment
@@Paul-mf7zx Thanks, I couldn't try it because I had too many collections and the browser got super wide and out of the window because of that.
I'm also in the "old browser please" camp. I hate this new "abstract everything" view.
I've tried the new browser and I hate it, ii am also sticking to 4 for now and will not renew my license again if we don't get the option to revert back to the old browser
@@TheSproeta Yea Bitwig 4 is fine until then
You know what would be cool Bitwig?
Exporting midi with the written tempo changes.
Wanna get ahead of that curve?
More midi-stuff in general would be dope. Midi-comping. Some editing workflow and pianoroll improvements would be nice. But guess it ain't flashy enough. Well... at least they delivered on the MSEG after years and years of whining from the community. In due time I hope...
@@jonirischx8925 The Msegs are really nice.
I love Bitwig but there are some stuff that frustrate me alot. Hoping they continue to build upon it on 5.0's run.
What I'd also consider very important would be importing Midi with tempo changes. Because Bitiwig can't automatically create tempo maps. You could create the tempo map in another program and import it if this was possible.
@@aheendwhz1 It can already import with tempo changes.
If u drag it in; it'll have a pop up window asking if you would like to keep the changes.
@@Skyverb Oh thanks, I did not know this! Probably, my Midi wasn't exported correctly with tempo information.
BITWIG please don’t focus on modules, but improve the DAW itself there may be a small percentage of users that use the grid, nobody cares about it, or the stock effects. Most use third party VST’s anyways. Do a survey maybe? People are suggesting good ideas what they want to see in a DAW, basic stuff like video support, maybe notation. On the positive side Bitwig still outperforms any DAW when it comes to workflow most just want to make music and do it quickly. Thanks!
I bought Bitwig… has a going for it but a few things stopping me from switching over from Logic.
-zooming, no horizontal zoom in arrange with mouse wheel and the keys you have to use make no sense to me. Should be able to customize that.
- lack of playback options like “play from selected midi note”
-no retrospect record
- two screen workflow, you have to click to activate the other screen! Why can’t both windows be active? All the extra clicks all the time drives me crazy. I miss having screensets like Logic has, and being able to just drag my piano roll or any section right out of the daw and have them floating wherever I want on each screen set.
-I miss having a modifier key that goes to the pen tool just when it’s held down, the numbers for switching tools doesn’t feel ergonomic to me.
Uh you can edit keyboard shortcuts in the options
This is outstanding. but where is the MIDI COMPs? : (
Seriously good update! Cheers to developers!
Let's GOOOOO!
need more instruments and piano roll update. I wish this update had something for the hiphop producers to make the workflow faster
BITWIG BE LIKE:
YOU WANTED MSEG RIGHT?
SO HERE YOU ARE 5
my thoughts precisely! lol
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Almost shit myself.
Thanks for your huge update.
For me, bitwig is a great sound design tool, but not suitable for all genres of music. Especially when making groovy music. (It's not impossible, but good tools exist.)
bitwig is already a good enough daw in terms of sound design.
I like the new features that don't exist in other daws, but I'm satisfied enough just by trimming bitwig's obstacles that hinder music production.
It would be nice if midi capture, groove template, and groove extract functions were added. How great would it be if the groove extract could be linked to the grid of the arrangement view.
Step input is also good.
And when sequencing on a piano roll, how nice would it be if the playback position would respond to clicks in empty space instead of clicking the ruler?
I would be happy if bitwig allowed me to move the cursor position via keyboard shortcuts.
I look forward to making music of different genres easier and faster in the next update.
oh yeah groove Pool option with proper analysing and tahzs all per track/ global clip with mapable midi parameters beyond a simple global 0/100 that would be cool...
Bitwig sorely lacks groove. Kind of stupid at this point
I just want Bitwig to not be orange.
Orange! ruclips.net/video/xFixXtmyRY4/видео.html
*The best DAW gets even better!* 😍❤
The best DAW that still can not edit themes in 2023!
For creative people, visual perception is very important!
@@Paul-ui6in Is Bitwig that ugly in your eyes that it's not usable because you need themes? Would you say the same about hardware from Elektron? or Roland? Artists in the past made music on prehistoric DAW's like Emagic Notator Logic just fine without barely any colors. So what's stopping you?
@@Paul-ui6in That’s literally on the bottom of my list. I just need it to be functional.
@@MrOuija-rr8kq People discount the importance of the aesthetics/theming of their software, though the logic behind its importance is quite simple. If the look or colors of the software you’re going to spend hours looking at are unpleasant to you for whatever reason, it makes you less likely to spend more time in it, which kinda sucks. Even just some options to change the main color scheme could really solve a big part of that too.
Well it is made by the same guys that made ableton live so yeah
god damn
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Great job!
This looks like a Eurorack DAW dream! I will check this out.
This is the best DAW! Thank you for moving on. We are waiting!
My body is ready.
Still waiting for an update of the documentation. Many of the new features introduced are not in the manual and some of the stuff in the manual is outdated. And no, I don't want to watch RUclips videos.
We're working on updating the user guide.
Already version 5? And still no video feature?
And no gridlines.
Like a sportscar without wheels.
Absolutely! I'm totally disappointed as well. This is what they call a major release?! Video supported is one of the very basic features I expect from any DAW. I've been waiting for this too long now...
@@marcotronic They will only add features they feel like most of their customers want, so the only way to get them to do this would be to convince them people want this enough. Sending an email is always an option if you haven’t already, but it would be cool if they had polls or something of the like to ask their customer base what they are missing.
It's a DAW. I'd much rather they focussed on improving functionality relating to audio than adding video. Use a video editor if you're working with video
@@rorz999 Other DAWs have this feature, why not this one? What you just said has no value.
ok thats exciting af ^^
There is nothing in this video.
🎉🥳
Looks great. Just wish Zooming would be better in Bitwig along with a different background color for the arrangement window...
Элементарно редактор скинов так и не сделали 😂
This update has so many of my requested features ❤️
It will definitely change how I will use the DAW, and it really makes me want to get a Launchpad for live playing the clip launcher.
Based on the MSEG I have a follow-up feature request: get a sidechain audio input in the MSEG modulator, so you can see the waveform you're modulating. This would make Shaperbox completely irrelevant, and then you could do everything it does in Bitwig natively.
Great work guys, keep it up!
Tbh bitwig on my opinion doesnt really need this because you can just put an oscilloscope afterwards and do it not only with your sidechain but anything so you'll analyze what you're doing each time when you mix or design a sound and put distortion.
@@WarrenPostma which one do you recommend, mini, pro or x?
@Warren Postma I haven't used mine for a long time. I really should try it again, thank you for the reminder
@@yajrobot Yes you can do it, but it's less easy to see how you're affecting the shape of the audio. Especially if you want to use it for drum shaping like in VolumeShaper. You can do without, but I think it would be a cool feature.
@@TheQxY idk for me it's pretty easy, just adjust frequency and turn to free mode.
Has anyone updated yet? I heard the new update is crashed the DAW. Can anyone confirm this? 🙏🏻 thanks in advance
Never crashed in the last 4 houers i tested. (Mac studio m1 Max)

We need a full dark theme!
Hello! When will you be able to make a convenient export of tracks together with the master channel ? It's so inconvenient to render each track to get the balance of the stems as the final mix.
I spend more than an hour rendering every track through the master channel, it's crazy...I love BITWIG!, but sometimes professional updates are more important than beautiful colors...
If you want to bounce out with processing then use group tracks and process on your group levels. Your workflow is nuts.
@Warren Postma exactly haha 😂
@@WarrenPostma It's insane, I know, but what you're saying doesn't work, I tried adding effects to the whole group when exporting tracks (but the BITWIG doesn't catch these effects) The tracks after rendering are still dry (I mean it exports without fx like limiter, compression and so on...)
@John Town Yes, I agree with you 100%! The fundamental things are always very difficult and understandable only to professional users. My laziness does not allow me to switch to REAPER, (where all this things has already been finalized) But I hope for the competence of the BITWIG developers, and they will improve such basic functions as exporting tracks with master fx or more vital things to work with sounds!
😮
Looking forward to unfolding all this! ❤
Уважаемые немцы, сделайте пожалуйста струм в пиано ролле. Быстрый и удобный.
i need extract grooves and a groove pool :c
Guys, I needed some help...im facing an issue when recording into the software. When I play a melody the software isnt taking in all the notes played..it skips one or two in between...could someone please tell me whats wrong or what should be done? Im using bitwig 8 track.
After testing and testing the new browser over and over again I've come to the sad conclusion that it is really shit for me.
I want to make music and not waste my time on a browser, give us at least the option to switch back to the old one.
I hope you fix this, for now I'm reverting back to Bitwig 4 and will not renew my upgrade plan
I still need MIDI dumping like FL Studio or Ableton support it. Just be able to play some notes without the forcing to click on record. Just dump it when you think it sounded good. It's the most essential part from my side.
Still waiting for that network collaboration feature aren’t we?
So it's now got an ibuilt Serum synth. Easy pass
I know quite a few that asked for MSEGs, great execution Bitwig!!! 🎉👌🥳🙏 Can’t wait to do a livestream on this on my channel soon! 🐣🥁😄
звук такой же пластмасовый как у фрути лупса (((((
Okay, now I keep Bitwig, at least for live performances. Composing is still better in Ableton because of the well-thought piano roll and other fundamental stuff. But I'll be happy if Bitwig focuses on hardware integration and live features...
And all the beautiful crashes and freezes yes wonderful software😂😂😂 ableton sucks sold it for bitwig studio have no regrets
@@akira20ish Good for you
well thought out piano roll? what are you on about?
@@funkytransport we’re comparing Bitwig and Ableton in that case. Of course, Cubase piano roll on another level, out of this competition :) but, despite the fact Bitwig piano roll has some quirks and interesting concepts, Ableton’s one much more convenient for composing

What does it do???
Is there a release date?
Please allow us to place/arrange our MCU devices as WE wish, eg main unit in the middle.
Please add the ability to control drum/layer subtracks with the MCU Devices.
Yes we have driven by moss but it is not comparable how the logic or studio one implementation works. (and it is unreliable)

Eyyy lesssgooooo
PLEASE! Add ability to change different MIDI inputs for each modulator (curves or segments) to trigger from other tracks ( not only one ( in track inspector))

Still on BWS 1, how's the VST multi out working now? Is it still a hot mess?
👏👏👏
The new browser is insane! No sample preview delay!! 🙏 love this update!!
The only thing we the beatmakers need is a Sampler with follow tempo (sync to bpm) and a good rote note detection. 🫠
And some midi editor improvement’s like scales and chords.. 😎
lets gooooo the sample preview delay was really annoying glad to see it gone
@@theepicredstoner1604 now its by far the best browser i tested in a DAW! Super clean and fast! Good job bitwig!

I'm just wondering, how can it be that DAWs and instruments and possibilities are getting better and better and music is getting shorter and worse...? It's interesting. Just watched the video of Rick Beato with the current charts. Simply bad, more can not be said about it.
Nepotism.
You're listening to the wrong music. There's tons of amazing stuff out there. Check out Rameses B, Seven Lions, Alexander Bergheau, Talamanca. All very musical electronic artists.
@@Digitt6 I am listening to all kinds of Music, but not the Charts (check the video from Rick Beato, it's bad). The Charts are crap. And yes, Talamanca, I love it 🙂
Speaking of bad music.. what's Beato's call to fame? 😁
@@wolfgangdevries127 It's not a question of fame, but a question of taste. Any idiot can be successful with the worst music, which has more to do with the listeners and marketing and social media, than with the music and musicians themselves. I don't know Beato's music well, but where he is right, he is right. Today's charts are just very bad.
Thank you😌 I have a million ways to do a lot of things that are asked here in roundabout, but native ways in Bitwig and only in Bitwig. That's why I love this DAW. Someone should post more Shorts with tricks for DIY implementation of requests 😅
I'm also always happy when you develop towards global mechanics and improvements!🌎
So the option with global modulators and knobs is my favourite in this update. But there will always be a use for others.
Just the reason for my transition to bitwig is useful global features that are not found anywhere else. Not polishing a million details.
And I still haven't found a way (1)to change the colors of the main UI elements (it's just inspiring) and (2)optionally select the sidechain and routing in a mapping/modulation style rather than from a drop down menu. This is useful when I am somewhere deep and I need the sidechain from a device that is very close to the target. I'll be glad if it goes to the piggy bank 😊
It’s not a daw, it’s a synth
Hopefully Bitwig chose a slightly less demonic max tempo than “666”, this time.
I have always repeated this sentence (Bitwig studio is the best DAW)...with every update it takes hundreds of steps away from its competitors...I love Bitwig studio🔥👑❤️

Now improve the audio fx and make their quality on par with Ableton's
What's wrong with the bigwig effects? I don't see what you're saying... Especially since you can nest devices, modulate them endlessly, and build stuff in the FX-Grid. They sound fine to me.

@@jackcimino8822 lmao so why are you shilling over here if you don't know what you're talking about? They have dope FX, and even if you don't like the stock devices/presets as they are, YOU CAN LITERALLY BUILD YOUR OWN inside the DAW. Also, plugins are a thing... There are many things bitwig can improve upon, but you literally chose the one thing where they pretty much outshine the competition in every way...
@@jonirischx8925 Because that's something I hear so often that I think it's the consensus. Besides, I no longer have access to the trial version to decide.
I’ve seen several comments about themes and piano roll that “helps” people to play chords.. I don’t get it. This is a DAW for musicians, not a app to make you look cool.
Someone said it lacks the “essential tools” of a DAW. Those would be Create tracks. Play and Record. The rest is just convenient things. Am I getting old or is generation X and Z getting lazy? 🤣
With Bitwig there’s no other limit than your imagination. (And perhaps that’s why some is demanding things like themes and “chord help”.. But what they really need is imagination and creativity. ☺️)
