My family owned a few businesses and the newest location happened to be in a poor area, I fed some homeless people when they were hungry and then I quickly realized it was a mistake. In college I often went to the deli after closing and they’d give me leftovers that didn’t sell. It was a private school but I didn’t have any money. I can’t believe these people would rather throw food in the garbage.
@starlight_93 The only thing i could think of is that from a liability perspective. If you get sick from eating leftover food, no matter what kind of food it is (cooked/raw/whatever) and you sue, then you could win money. Thats literally the only reason major chains dont donate their food thats leftover at night. I'm not saying its right, but thats how it is.
You know why? Because just in case someone who has bad intention to sue them for money. That's why, anything can happen.
There lawyers tell them to do it. It reduces liability for the store.
@@erickim1739 Agreed, I used to do QA for a major supermarket chain in the SE. Everyday, they dumpstered/compacted good food only because the "sell by" date had arrived. It was explained to me that they could no longer give this food to anyone, hungry or not. It's all about liability and too many jackpot justice lawyers out there.

If anyone on here has gone hungry for a long period of time they would know how painful hunger can be. I went hungry for weeks and sometimes months on end and it still lives with me today. My wife laughs at me for way over stocking our fridge and cupboards when I go shopping but I am happy when I have enough food to last us for a long time. They hid because their snitching backfired. They're embarrassed because the cop did what they should've done in the first place. Now they want to forget and sweep it under the rug because they KNOW they were wrong. The homeless man should thank them for snitching because that made the officer help him. Being hungry is not a crime. What should be a crime is the restaurant cashier or manager not offering some food.
If he is a regular begger deal with it some other way. Hunger does not care how much money you have or who you are. It will visit everyone each day.
Have a heart. One day you will meet your maker and answer for what you didnt do in this life. Would not want to be asked for a few bucks worth of food.
@@alexiaashford46 i am sure he knows about the shelters and non profits. I use to work at one for years. They know about them and will use them for certain things. But being that they live on streets they cant keep food, clean clothes, other things long term. And long term is more than a few days sometimes. Shelters can be dangerous places. Most homeless are armed with sharp objects. On the streets you have space and freedom. Some shelters force you to attend church services or you dont get to eat. It is wrong but true. Some are homeless due to mental, drugs, alcohol. Just have him move along if he is causing an issue with your business. Give him something and have him move on. Yes they have a business to run but how they treat the less fortunate tells a lot about them as a person.
If you can't make someones live better at least don't make it worse.
There are no easy answers or solutions. Just have some compassion and love. One day we will all answer for our actions.
The poor you will have for you always... i was hungry and you did not feed me. I was cold and you did not clothe me...
@@alexiaashford46 You sound like a really kind hearted person. Bless you for having compassion.
@@alexiaashford46 i see your point. But i believe in the 80 20 rule. 80% are good people 20% are not. We tend to fear the bad with good reason. But when the first person shows up and will be counted it makes easier for others to help a little without getting involved. We all do a little but leave it for someone else to handle it. But it all does help. You are the hero for helping instead of walking away. Even if you just shared what you saw. Said a kind word. Or gave in some small way.
I personally thank you and countless others that helped when i ran a facility to help those in need. We never could have done it with out people like you. Unsung heroes. Even a burger to someone hungry is a hero. I have been there hungry taking care of others. Someone gave me food i didnt have money and figured it would be another day without food for me. Best burger i ever ate. For some reason they thought enough to feed me, the worker. 25 years later i still remember. A debt i could never repay. Thank you.
@@alexiaashford46 well yes and no in a way. They have to travel to a location to get their food. For example here in Houston you're not allowed to give food to the homeless. It's illegal. The police catch you, you get fined for doing your moral duty. In order for them to get food they have to physically travel to a designated shelter / food location. The city claims that giving them food can cause them to get sick from badly prepared food. This keeps them localized away from public view and does not embarrass the city and keeps them away from wealthy neighborhood's.
If they are given food or they get ahold of some food it's only what they can physically carry. They don't have any place to keep it. Some have tents in minimal shelter they can keep a few can goods but nothing very long-term. Unfortunately there really is no easy answers. People are homeless ranging from physical sexual abuse, drug, mental, or just bad luck lost their home job and have no place to live.
Last Saturday I saw a man under a bridge with looks like about a two year old girl just sitting there. She was playing with a bunch of rocks.
It is really sad. The reality is a lot of money think is poured in to help these people never get to them. Most of it is rerouted to administrative cost. People doing studies having the police move them around cleaning up and forcing them out of their area. I wish I could have given you better news but when I was a manager at a food location i saw from the inside and that was the sad truth about it. during big events Super Bowl major conventions I've actually seen them roundup the homeless and give them to another part of town just so they won't be seen by the news media. Donations paid to have them relocated. don't let all the bad news keep you from doing the right thing. We can all still be a blessing to someone. The Dalai Lama said, if you can't make somebody's life better at least don't make it worse. and I think that's true.
Thank you for caring. Bless you and your family and take care

Whatever. It’s an urban myth that homeless people will buy drugs or alcohol or are actually rich. If I have spare money to give, I give it. It doesn’t affect me not to have it. I don’t care how they spend it because it’s not my right to tell them what they can and can’t have.
That's such a Sweet heart!⛄🌨️😭🎄
Now that is how you de-escalate a situation. You do it with compassion and not a gun. Kudos to the officer, much respect.
What a gent, good man
That is a true "Blue Knight!"
This happens everyday, officers kind hearts are evident on every shift.
God bless us all
God bless the officer but why couldn’t the manager just give the hungry man scraps of food? That they’re going to throw away anyway? Ppl need to b more compassionate! U c a fellow human being starving and u have the means to fill his belly, fill it in the name of GOD‼️Or just put of human decency ‼️
Right, and the girl capturing the moment could have been compassionate also but didn’t think to be until the officer was.
Healthcode violations maybe? Dont be a dumbass.
Sadly it’s against corporate policy and they would be fired for doing so. However this story is a good reason why people shouldn’t assume cops are bad people, most of them are human beings with hearts just like many others.
Idk why no one “accidentally” dropped a double cheeseburger or “accidentally” gave the wrong order and then gave it to the homeless guy 😭😭
dooronron coz their brainwashed fuckin sheep.robot people
He was my buddy back in the day at San Andreas gotta say he was a really kind. He’d always listened to what I say!
He is very passionate officer. God bless him.
Help others.. Even if they can't help you..
Life has soo many turns...
Who was up, now is down, and those who were down now stand up on their feet. Simple, a wheel of fortune in the lives of the people.
@@utharkruna1 ÀMEN!!!
Can u imagine non of the crew on tht store can initiative to give food for tht man
Gave an Old Grunt Tears, God Bless Officer Mullinax.. Keep it Human!!
God bless you officer 🙏
When you realize the one filming is really the villain. Key words called the police on a homeless man.
The person filming was an employee. She didn't call the police the manager did. Not much she could have done.
If there was anyone else in that diner who would give him something to eat instead filming someone else doing it.
The person filming was an employee and would most definitely have gotten fired considering the bitch manager called the police on some dude asking for scraps.
Really good to see this kind of stuff. Wish there was more like it.
In this video their are two types of man that is one kind heart and another evil heart.
