@@Beezlie727 With all due respect, credit goes to TBBT for the joke. Sheldon just makes a joke, albeit inadvertently, I think, using the story of the King's ring to relate to Howard's shameful story, saying that it would eventually be forgotten. Whereas I think the scriptor/director/whoever it really was that wrote the joke, was trying to make a no. 2 joke.
This is one of my most favorite scenes in the show. Howard and Sheldon being friends is one of the sweetest aspects of the show. And then them both going through some embarrassing shit where Sheldon unintentionally makes things worse is again 😂😂 And obviously, our very own Bawwy Kwipke. The man works like a wonder.
There is a poem, written by Theodore Tilton, about the story Sheldon speaks of. ONCE IN P ERSIA reigned a king, Who upon his signet ring Graved a maxim true and wise, Which, if held before his eyes, Gave him counsel at a glance Fit for every change and chance. Solemn words, and these are they; " Even this shall pass away. " Trains of camels through the sand Brought him gems from Samarcand; Fleets of galleys through the seas Brought him pearls to match with these; But he counted not his gain Treasures of the mine or main; " What is wealth? " the king would say; " Even this shall pass away. " 'Mid the revels of his court, At the zenith of his sport, When the palms of all his guests Burned with clapping at his jests, He, amid his figs and wine, Cried, " O loving friends of mine; Pleasures come, but not to stay; " Even this shall pass away." " Lady, fairest ever seen, Was the bride he crowned his queen. Pillowed on his marriage bed, Softly to his soul he said: " Though no bridegroom ever pressed Fairer bosom to his breast, Mortal flesh must come to clay - Even this shall pass away. " Fighting on a furious field, Once a javelin pierced his shield; Soldiers, with a loud lament, Bore him bleeding to his tent. Groaning from his tortured side, " Pain is hard to bear, " he cried; " But with patience, day by day, Even this shall pass away. " Towering in the public square, Twenty cubits in the air, Rose his statue, carved in stone. Then the king, disguised, unknown, Stood before his sculptured name, Musing meekly: " What is fame? Fame is but a slow decay; Even this shall pass away. " Struck with palsy, sore and old, Waiting at the Gates of Gold, Said he with his dying breath, " Life is done, but what is Death? " Then, in answer to the king, Fell a sunbeam on his ring, Showing by a heavenly ray, " Even this shall pass away. "
jokes aside sheldon reminds me of my father who would tell stories and share his biblical wisdom with me (he’s christian) and to think if you got on sheldon’s good side he’d tell you cool scientific stories he’s indulged in and that would make him a good father yk
Idk why but the "This too shall pass" just popped into my head and I wanted to know where it came from. I've heard it here before but I wanted to know the origin
Raj is the most annoying friend in the group, even more annoying than sheldon, sheldon is not doing his selfishness on purpose, he just don’t understand the social dynamics of an average person, Raj is just whinny, who had the best life anyone can have and still finds a way to screw it up

That story really gives me comfort when I'm having a bad day
You mean "this too shall pass." or clogzilla?
For me its clogzilla!
j
Sheldon and Howard's friendship is underrated
It's almost non-existent.
I just love Sheldon and Howard's intersections. Especially the soft cute quiet emotional ones. They are truly friends
Sheldon: "Clogzilla. That's pretty funny. I don't think that's gonna pass."
Actually, Sheldon...I think it already has!
No, actually it overflowed! 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I miss those days I wish I could go back then in time and relive all these years again having my present conciousness
Howard talking about number two not being able to pass through the toilet in the restroom and Sheldon going “this too shall pass”
Shame the video isn't titled "this two shall pass"
@@grahamspragg7494 Good one...er two! 😂

I'm Iranian
This story is famous
This too shall pass = این نیز بگذرد
Is a idiom in Persian that mean Everything ends, good or bad
Love it when they refrence our culture. Nishapur, this shall pass(این نیز بگذرد)
Yeah, I missed this reference. Then saw a post in Telegram about it.
There'd be no point of Howard being sad if it'd ve passed😂

Whatever you say... Cwogziwwa!
Howard is the best kind friend any one can get.
Actually, makes him happy when he is sad, AND makes him sad when he is happy.
This too shall pass.
این نیز بگذرد.
Hey Cooper, I heard you drunk-dialed Stephen Hawking last night, classic!!Get out of here Barry, whatever you say Clogzilla!!😭😭That had me dying.
Same bro lol 😂
Barry and Stuart are my favorites secondary characters for life 🤣
Sheldon didn’t really say it right because the story is that to make him ring that make him happy when he’s sad and sad when he’s happy

Oh what words of wisdom everybody should understand
Sheldon is referring to Attar of Nishapur which was a Persian poem and wrote the original poem!
rest in peace, Dr. Stephen Hawking.
Enjoy HELL
Clogzilla, that’s pretty funny. I don’t that’s gonna pass. Sick Sheldon 😂😂😂
Rare footage of Howard and Sheldon getting along

1:31 listen closely and i believe you can hear Howard utter the words "Oh God"
Why did Raj tell people? I thought they were friends.
It turns out I’d already met the girl Raj is seeing when I did a number on her bathroom and that number was 2!! Classic🤪🤪
"hawk man". The best one
Idk why but the "This too shall pass" just popped into my head and I wanted to know where it came from. I've heard it here before but I wanted to know the origin
its a story told by a persian sufi poet, attar from the ancient city of nishabour, in his book "the divine letter"
Hawkman 😂😂😂😂

The story is incomplete
The king wanted to have a ring that had a quote on it that would make him happy when he's sad and make him sad when he's happy

Raj is a horrible friend.
@Rude Guy Who do you think told Kripke and probaby all of Caltech?
Did he really told Kripke? I always wondered how tf does he knew about clogzilla
Actually Howard is terrible friend. Have you even watched this show?
How did Kripke know about that clogzilla story?
Maybe Raj told him.
