Pretty inaccurate statement. Do you really think it is the equipment that makes the recording what it is or the musicians? Do you think it was a good microphone that was able to make Sinatra's voice what it was or Pat Metheny's guitar playing? They both would sound amazing with any microphone you put in front of them. Try asking a top of the line singer/band for a concert in your living room and see what kind of money they will charge you.. Then you might reconsider the cost of a decent hifi system being able to reproduce that magic in your living room.
@@tarekbahri2008 you didn't understand my statement. The recording tecnique and all the stuff added to the mix are based on the monitoring devices in the studio. Mixing and mastering is made accordingly to what the guy in the studio hears from his monitors. Listening through a record with a 250k amplifier is like putting a 20hp engine in a Ferrari. It's still a 20hp engine. a 250k amplifier is not "accurate", it's overkill and it gives the sound a tone that was not even intended in the mix. Same thing applies for a pair of 100k speakers. You don't need to spend over a million if you want to appreciate good music. Also, people who tend do defend this kind of snake oil are usually 65 or 70 y.o. with a very compromised hearing...so yeah, they won't hear the "farting dog from the other side of the city" with that amplifier, nor they could hear the arctic wind caressing the needle while listening for the 1000th time to "in the court of the crimson king".
@@astral_anomaly2250 For studio albums, you're right. A good pair of studio monitors would be best for produced studio albums/singles. But that's not what the highest-end hifi is for. It's mostly for live recordings, sometimes a rock band, but also jazz, blues, opera, orchestral, stuff like that. Depending on your room setup and the recording, crazy expensive hifi is designed to do one of 2 things: either bring you into the audience where the music was recorded, or bring the singer/band to you so it sounds like they're there in the room with you.
And clearly, if one has a 500k$ amplifier (those are mono, I think you need two...), they'll have to match it with DAC, preamp, speakers, cables, listening room etc. etc. of the same level or it wouldn't make sense (if it does make any to begin with...). So we're easily talking more than 1 million dollars.
Dan D'Agostino products are always look real great! Stylish, elegance, luxury...those are some other ultra highend audio companies need to learn. Some of those have built, apart from the sound, the products look like brick, scrap...
Stunningly gorgeous!
when hi fi stuff costs way more than all the equipment used to record music, there's something wrong.

I will need 11 of these for my surround system. Damn!

There are nice homes that cost less than $250,000.

@fd7231 you are close. 1.6 is the minimum amount for matching the relentless with everything else needed. Not including the room mind you.

I wonder how these compare to the likes of gryphon or Boulder?
Talk about diminishing returns! rotf!!
Is Dan any relation to Steve D'Agostino?
married
No amplifier in the world worth 250k..
As far as my own ears go, I'd say no amplifier is worth more than $250.
Is that two mono blocks in one?
each unit is mono
