Just started watching the video. My prediction is that the best captain would be Larry Barese or possibly Vito. Definitely not Paulie - he's sharp as a stone, greedy, and too superstitious. Anyway, $4 a pound, and thanks for the effort, Vano!
Larry barese was never described as a great money maker or intelligent. I agree with Vito but surely Ralph as well if we are talking purely money making ability and respect from other families (even carmine lupertazizi knew who Ralph was)
@toby099 Barese has the largest crew in the family. After he went to the can and Albert started reigning supreme , it was mentioned they made tones of cash. I assume Larry was a good money maker, maybe not as good as Ralphie, but definitely better than Paulie

As a student and aficionado of The Sopranos TV series, I have to give this evaluation big props! Ive read and own several books on the subject.

There was like 20 captains and 5 soldiers on the sopranos. Makes no sense. In the real mafia there’s like 5-10 soldiers under each captain.
I think there's a lot more soldiers than we ever see, just because they wouldn't have been very relevant characters to the actual plot of the show.
But what you're saying could also be another reason why the New York families don't respect them.
Remember what Phil condescendingly said about (paraphrasing) "They'll make anyone."
Actually, it's not true - at the very end of season 6, there are 4 crews with 4 capos in charge, which makes sense. The Barese crew - is the largest crew in the family, with about 30-35 soldiers.
The thing is, we are not shown all the associates/soldiers throughout the series. So, it's a bit confusing 😕

@@vanovhs in season 1 for instance you had Jackie April as acting boss. You had Tony, Junior, Larry Barese, Jimmy Altiere, Ray Curto as captains. You would need like 40-50 soldiers to round out the family but all we ever see is maybe 15 soldiers at most. (Paulie, Silvio, Pussy, Chuckie Signore, Mikey Palmice, Bobby, Patsy, Philly, Beppy Sasso, Albert Barese, Gigi… there may be more but I can’t think of any… Chrissy and Gene get made later on. But that’s less than 15 soldiers for a 5 captain family. Makes no sense at all.
@dd212NYC Some soldiers had minor roles on the Sopranos, that's why they are barely noticeable. I strongly suggest checking the Sopranos Wikipedia, there you'll find the full list of the soldiers

#1 Bobbie jr. He was underestimated because of his posotion in Junior's crew but when given any task or opportunity, he flourished. Although shy but meek, he didnt take any shit from Janice, Paulie or Tony. He was even tempered, and never flew off the handle, even after standing up and punching Tony. His use of violence was always necessary and calculated.
Ralph or Vito. They had their weaknesses, but overall, they were the best.

I agree that Gigi was both capable and staunchly loyal; and he was also very level-headed. He didn't fly off the handle all the time like the other guys. If his ticker could have handled the stress of leadership, he might have been the perfect capo and someday, Boss.

Feech, Phil and Richie were "Too Old School" to integrate into Modern times as far as the Mafia goes. Feech was more personable out of three in my opinion, Had he not been as gung-ho I think he would have settled in eventually and been an asset Tony.
