Something does not add up here. The Internet (including Madame Tussauds' own site) tells me that Madame Tussauds Prague did not open until 2019, yet the museum here is clearly labeled Madame Tussauds and the video is dated 2016. Am I missing something? This matters because I have been compiling wax figures at Madame Tussauds and organizing them by their subjects' birthdays* in a document titled "Birthday Candles" and looking at images on Google Images for each on their birthdays, but because I sometimes find that a figure was not at Madame Tussauds but rather at a smaller wax museum, I have found that I have included some false positives that I need to remove, and one of them may be one for today, May 20: Petr Čech. (Also on today are James Stewart, Annie M. G. Schmidt, Sadaharu Oh, Goh Chok Tong, and Cher.) I found images of the Čech figure purportedly at Madame Tussauds Prague dated 2017 or 2018, but with the aforementioned 2019 opening date, they cannot be accurate. I have seen other images of the same figure attributed to the Musée Grévin in Prague (which I can confirm did exist once but no longer does), which leads me to believe that the uploader of the images mistook the Musée Grévin for Madame Tussauds.
*My own birthday of February 13 has Jerry Springer, Mazhar Alanson, Robbie Williams, and Lin Gengxin. Anybody comfortable asking about his/her birthday may also do so, but note that I am still missing three dates: February 29, July 31, and October 29. The most bothersome false positive that I have found has been Zinedine Zidane, whose birthday is June 23, which I was also missing for a long time. I saw a source suggesting that Madame Tussauds has honored him, but I found no evidence that it ever has (he, being French, actually has a wax figure at the original Musée Grévin in Paris) when I looked it up to check, so I never added him. Luckily, I later found that King Edward VIII's birthday was June 23 and immediately looked for a wax figure of him, which I found. I was also missing July 20 for quite a while and found a Gisele Bündchen figure at the Dreamland Wax Museum in Boston, but I am only looking at Madame Tussauds here. You can imagine my consternation when I found people who thought that her figure was at Madame Tussauds. However, I found one of Carlos Santana that is at Madame Tussauds and I could check July 20 off through him.

@@LuciaTurok That would make sense. Reviewing the history of Wikipedia's article on Madame Tussauds reveals that it mentioned a Prague wing as early as 2015, and I also remember writing in my fifth journal in 2015 that there were twenty Madame Tussauds wings worldwide at the time (although I have never been to any of them), a number that is only consistent with the 2015 opening date for Prague because the others that existed then (London; Amsterdam; Las Vegas; Hong Kong; New York; Shanghai; Washington, D.C. [although that one went defunct in 2021]; Berlin; Hollywood; Bangkok; Vienna; Blackpool; Sydney; Tokyo; Wuhan; Beijing; San Francisco; Singapore; and Orlando) only make nineteen. (I even found a source the other day suggesting that the Prague wing dates back to 1997, but I do not believe that it is THAT old.) I am bemused as to why the site now insists that the Prague wing opened in 2019 despite evidence to the contrary. It does not help that the Prague wing seems to be one of the more neglected ones; its site has a different interface from that of most of the wings (except for the ones in mainland China, which share a different style) and the only indications that I can find that it has been updated since 2019 at all are a page about CCP virus restrictions and a video from 2022 on the homepage. Furthermore, the only modern Czech figure whom I can find on the official site is Dominik Hašek. The Budapest wing that opened last year also has a unique interface on its site, although I think that it is updated slightly more often and it has several modern Hungarian figures. Regardless, these findings suggest that maybe Petr Čech did belong in that document after all (or maybe not if his figure was in fact at the Musée Grévin in Prague before it shut down).

Thanks for the video. Someone said not the best Madame Tussauds and I can see why. Poor interior and not many international celebrities. We've been to Madame Tussauds Amsterdam, a few days before the Corona closedown. I've made a video for those that are interested in MT Amsterdam. It's called "80 statues" and has almost all statues with names. Off course a real life visit to Madame Tussauds is always better but if you aren't able to visit MT Amsterdam you can get a good impression this way. Greetings from the Netherlands and stay safe. 👋

The Prague museum is really small and I would say it is good just because there is not many tourists so you can enjoy it more 😀😉

@@LuciaTurok That's true. I've seen many MT video's and almost every video about MT London is really crowded with people. Doesn't matter which time or date you choose. Other MT's are much quieter.
