    The only way to go Guys, it will always keep the milk away even when the cows are at peak. The float will just kick in as the milk rises in the receiving jar as we call it. We got rid of the diaphragm pump years ago and never looked back.

    I know that this might not be a flash clip but could you make a clip showing us how you clean everything ? And the process after every milking? We run a small farm dairy in the states .. cheers

    Awesome video, Herbicides are generally Mineral chelaters. Makes sense that they could hinder pasture growth at certain times. Centrifugal pump is the go though 👌

    Always nice to upgrade the milking shed .
    Two thing come to mind , what’s the temperature of the milk going into the vat when the pump is at its highest speed and keep an eye on your filter socks . They might blow out with the higher milk flow . Yes I’ve been there 😂

    • @TheOnceADayFarmer
      @TheOnceADayFarmer  Год назад +1

      Good points, I think our pre cooling is good enough to handle it but never thought about the filter sock, but makes sense

    Hi there. How do you guys handle a power failure during milking time. I enjoy your videos, keep it up and all the best, Graham. KZN, South Africa.

      Good question, But we havent had a power cut in along time, and they are usually fixed pretty quick so just have to wait

  • @alanb9337
    @alanb9337 Год назад +2

    Probably might require two components on the spares' shelf. 1) Mechanical seal for the centrifugal pump (rather than hoping the milking system truck or shelf has one) and 2)a spring for the new check valve which is likely to have a spring that can break.// Another thing to keep an eye on during the peak is the precooling, the faster the larger spring milk volume is pumped away the greater precooling required. Might have to check up on the air purge systems, relief milkers and excess water have been a known combination. (Some sheds mount the milk pump on its own pole set in the concrete, if the milk pump vibration puts too much vibration on the cows' backside rail, one side of the pit is greener than the other)

    I'm new to your videos, and see that your milking parlor is outside. My question is what's the coldest does it get there, and does freezing weather cause any issues with equipment and personnel?

    • @TheOnceADayFarmer
      @TheOnceADayFarmer  Год назад +1

      Hey mate, our weather is pretty mild compared to the Northern hemispheres winters.
      We havent even had a frost yet and were in the middle of winter, we don't get any snow so and the cows are grazed on grass all year around so our buildings can be pretty basic

  • @HenryNailer

    ACR’s don’t only make it a one person job but also speed the milking up

  • @philpaul4206

    Good job with the upgrade diaphragm pumps are terrible is the motor on your new pump bigger or smaller. And a lot less pipe joints and bends to clean

  • @geraldbostock2367
    @geraldbostock2367 Год назад

    I thought Qubik might have recommended fitting a larger sanitary trap can at the same time? Appears to be enough space above the receiver to mount one, to give more capacity in spring before the dreaded ball float goes up and the cups fall off.
    The foam buster valve is good to have. I don't know if you feed any PKE, but the valve inlet is just the right size for a PKE 'stone' to block it and potentially cause a cheesy hose and coliform risk. I've seen the hose replaced with a clear silicone one, easier to monitor, or fit an inline screen to catch any foreign matter. Cheers.

    Hello from Ireland, yeah it’s a great day when you get rid off the old diaphragm milk pumps , in theory they were a great idea but in practice they were a pain in the neck, we went back to the old centrifugal pump about ten years ago after persevering with the diaphragms for the previous decade or more, but the start of this season we replaced our clusters which were more or less the same as yours for the modern(ish) new light weight ones and boy it has made some difference, I worked it out and with the number of attachments per day and the difference in weight we will be lifting 100 tonnes less a year! And the cows are milking out quicker! But the old shoulders are not complaining much anymore which is the biggest advantage.

    Awesome new setup andrew! Have you thought of getting an air purge as well? We got one and it pushes over 20 litres of milk from the lines to the vat that would otherwise go with the wash. Great vid as always 👍

    Great upgrade in a tight timeframe. And it all worked. Good engineering. You should deffo go for the parlour extension sooner rather than later. It will cut your workload and give you flexibility in any scenario. would be good with the extension.

      Yeah would be nice to do it in the next couple of years, it’s not so bad as we only milk in the morning otherwise it would definitely need to have be done sooner

    It’s easy to put a button at the can so you can hold that in and pump the bottom of the can out, we’ve done that on lots of other sheds,

    • @TheOnceADayFarmer

      Probably does as there would be more pressure or more milk going through the plate cooler, our pre cooling system is pretty good how ever so should be alright 👍
