- I don't want to hear anymore of that, lmao. Anyway, majority of this is from Hard Mode, which more or less forces you to learn how to use your other sub weapons and realize Saber and Buster aren't your only options. Still, it peeves me to this day that no matter how much I talk about tech, this misinformation about Shield Boomerang's usefulness is still being widespread throughout the community.
Allow me to clear some things up, as a lot of folks seemed to have missed the point of this video by a mile:
-This is partly a joke video, if the title and game mode played (dark green color palette) didn't make that transparent enough.
-It's in no way trying to establish that the weapon is "better" than your obviously superior options. I never once stated this, and not sure why this is being brought up. The general consensus is that the weapon is useless, which regardless of better options, is objectively false. "Useless" implies it can't be utilized at all regardless of your skill level, which isn't true. If you've seen my content prior to this video and my guide content, you'd know I do not play like this or encourage it on normal mode, nor even use boomerang outside of Orbit Shield (Z3) and Damage Stacking. The video's simply showing it's a usable option.
-95% of these clips are on hard mode. I really don't need to explain this one, but I can't stress it enough since it's completely disregarded in the responses I see here.
This is actually my favourite weapon for the series so I did not understand the hate
How to use Orbit shield with Elements other than Ice?

@@mohdadeeb1829 you dont need ice to use the orbit sheild but if you are referring to how he makes it orbit without the ex move you just avoid touching it after you've thrown it

I've always felt like the biggest problem with Shield Boomerang (unless you have its utilization down to an art form like as shown here) isn't that it's a bad weapon, but because the ranking system of these games demands the player be fast and efficient to get a high ranking, which is the exact opposite of the Shield Boomerang's methodically defensive combat style. In fact, if it weren't for the ranking system being tied into getting important items in some of the games, I'd say it's probably my favorite weapon because it's much more suited to how I enjoy playing games in general.
You can be plenty fast with the shield boomerang. You use it when it's appropriate, and you plan your charges ahead of time so they don't slow you down.
@@MisterFanwank I'm sure, but that requires a lot of forethought, which isn't how I tend to play platformers. I'm much more of an in the moment kind of guy when it comes to those kinds of games. Unless it comes down to managing resources with knowledge of what I'll need later on in a stage.
Regardless of it being possible though, I don't feel like speed is what the Shield Boomerang is fundamentally designed to achieve. Making it a contradiction to how the game expects you to play to get your rank up.
Hard Mode, the mode that tells you that Shield Boomerang is your best friend in Z1,2,3
seriously, it was because this weapon is the only chargeable one (except Z3 because Recoil Rod is chargeable too in Hard mode)
A situation that force player to not relay on buster and saber. Myself too use Shield Boomerang a lot when I played Hardo Mode in Z1,2,3.
Besides, it should be noticed that Copy X can be stun locked with Boomerang Saber cancel in Z1, how is that not broken?
it is, but he unlocks himself from the loop after 6 or 7 slashes, not like it matters since you can just do it again, but at least they knew it was a thing
I used the Shield Boomerang a lot too in hard mode (sucked that it was removed in Z4)

This is part of what makes the Zero series so great. There's so many different ways to dismantle the bosses based on playstyle and skill level. You can just keep on improving, and it's very satisfying to do. I really wish Capcom would mend their relationship with Inti, it's clear that had way more passion for the Mega Man/Rockman series than Capcom themselves. Just imagine X9 or ZX3 made by these guys.
Such a well written statement my friend and I agree.
wait capcom and inti fell out or something ? what happened?
@@icemaster523 I'm not entirely sure but I think it has something to do with Inti's involvement with Mighty No. 9. Even in the recent Zero/ZX collection, Inti wasn't invited back to work on it, nor did the Remastered Tracks for each game make it into the collection, which makes sense since Inti holds the rights to those and not Capcom. They also purged the Inti logos from the game openings, leaving the only sign that Inti even developed the original games in the credits.
Inti, likewise, hasn't really been doing anything for Capcom in a while. They've been making their own stuff like the Gunvolt series, Dragon Marked For Death, etc.
@@Crow_Rising oh yeah that makes sense, I've bought the zero collection but haven't booted it yet because I was emulating zero 3 at the time. It's a bit of shame but to be honest its fairly surprising that Inti creates worked with Capcom in the first place - they split off from the company so its surprising they then ended up working with them again :O . I haven't tried Gunvolt, is it as good as mmz?
@@icemaster523 I've only played through the first one, I've been working my way through the second one on occasion for a few days now. I wouldn't say it's as great as MMZ, but I do think it's worth checking out if you're into MMXlikes. I'd actually probably say that it's best not to go in expecting a "Zero 5" or "ZX3" so much as something doing it's own thing.
