I think everyone is thinking the same; Can we see some Emulation on the 8600G and the 8700G? Your little setup that you did for the 8700G, it would be perfect to have something like this under the TV to play emulations if the APU's do well
Go check 7xxm emulation vids even on this same channel. Same performance. Grab a 7840hs or 7940hs mini pc and enjoy with smaller size too.
Helll yeah
ESPECIALLY VS the 7000 series for Laptops/handhelds.
@@tdata545 Same as 7xxm mini pc results. It is the SAME processor with slight variation due to TDP and cooling used in the particular device.
Don’t care about low end setting PC games, graphics cards are affordable now (reasonably), emulation lets go.. that’s what this channel means to me. PC gaming content makes me FFW and leave the video
They should put 780M instead of 760M igpu
yeah wtf, they be using last gen igpu that was in laptops, i was really devastated, expecting more from amd
True
Nobody games at 8c for budget build
@@HuntaKiller91 I think, the 8700G is not ment for budget gaming, but for budget workstations, as the iGPU accelerates video encoding tremendously (about 2x the speed of the 7700)
They did its the 8700g😂
🤦♂️...you goof, don't you understand how cpu series work? 😂
Integrated graphics have come such a long way…
Intel HD was truly something XD
Another thing to note on this slide (1:16) is the number of PCIe lanes. 8600G provides only 8 lanes of PCIe 4.0 for a discrete GPU.
or nvme.
8 lanes of pcie 4.0 is like x16 pcie 3, it's not an issue even for a 4090, but it may bottleneck future GPUs or those that may only have 4 lanes
I don't see this as a chip that you would buy if your goal is a separate serious graphic card. It's a budget PC build chip.
Insane that the IGPU can run modern games at all. Like this playable. tier. Thats amazig.
it's about gtx1050-1050ti performance at best
@@damasterpiece08 And people forget Intel has Iris Xe and now ARC iGpus which are capable as well.
8700g = hd 7970's performance
Please do some Emulation Testing
No need. Just watch all the 7xxm and 6xxm mini pc results.
This was better than expected given the number of CUs. Thanks for testing.
These are almost double of the 5000 series wich is a fantastic improvement.
Hyped to see them in mini pc and handheld pcs 😮
Its an interesting use case. Because zen4 already has a small igpu, so its not like you need these to have a system with no gpu. And a 6600 with a 7600 outperforms the 780m for not much more. Nevertheless, its impressive how far the integrated graphics for consumer systems have come.
If they lower the price, this CPU might be good
I hope to see a comparison soon of the graphics performance between the 760m on the 8600g and the Steam Deck
love your videos learned alot from you keep the grind going i cant aford any of this but he i love tech dont get it twisted iam not asking for anything i dont want anything or anyone to feel sorry for me .i have apc all in one from 8 years ago someone gaveit to mebut hey it was free and i cant complain i do aprecieate you so thanks for all the info i am a nerd for this tuff
I feel like these are going to be emulation beasts. Can't wait to built a mini pc with one of these.
Feel? We have already so much emulation results shown on 7xxm and 6xxm chipsets. We already know how it will perform.
@@stephenxs8354the igpu on the desktop models are faster than the laptop counterparts tho
I don’t know who this “we” is. I have no idea how it’s going to perform! 😂
My life doesn’t revolve around gaming (unfortunately it seems to revolve around work…), but I like building small computers. I’m interested in these from more for a “mini-pc that can do a little light gaming” perspective.
If you're not contrained by SFF, I'm afraid that an entry-level build of 12400F + GTX 1660 makes *_WAY_* more sense than the "STAPM" 8000G.
And if space contrained there are even smaller mini pcs.
If this apu was the same price as the 5600g would've been harder to decide but alas it cost like almost or was it 300$
@@maskedlibrarian1483AMD try to boast RDNA3 8 and 12 CUs but forget this is not a handheld. It's almost like that Nvidia try to setup a GPU market at $500 and AMD to setup a market of 12-CU APU at $330. It's almost like AMD forgets that old GPUs can perform *_WAY_* better with more power budget because this is not a mobile platform.
@@maskedlibrarian1483 Well, don't be surprised when they try to sell 16c + 40 CU "Strict Halo" at $500. 40 CUs look like a lot but don't forget PS5 got 36 CUs already.
@@JohnWilliams-gy5yc well the last gen desktop apu launched at similar prices so it was somewhat expected these stuff won't be cheap
I've got a couple of 5600gs, and they emulate up to Gamecube really well. So this is going to be an emulation brute.
Yes but so does almost any other midrange game PC from a few years ago?
@erikkarsies4851 Agreed, but they take up a hell of a lot more space doing it.
@@inkysteve Micro ATX? Not that much and that tiny severly limits the upgradeabillity of the system. That upgradeabillity was very reason the PC became succesfull
I bought an 8600G processor before going down or advertising the Deskmini x600 and now I don't know when it will be announced 🥺
you don't have access to fsr? the first version of fsr is available in the adrenaline software. just lower the screen resolution when in game for it to activate, once you select it from the adrenalin software.
Nice video as always
Emulation tests please
Nice review. It would be great if you tested AV1 video encoding too. This series is the only iGPU to have AV1 encoding (not just decode) and it is supposed to do it in style (8K,60p)
Excellent work as always. Can you test Apple M3 Max performance on games?
this is one nice chip for some tiny yet capable computers, I wonder why u keept Mortal kombat in low settings if it was only using about 75% gpu?
streaming performance.
I don't know if there is a benchmark for such a thing.
But I did some looking just the other day for "best for streaking" and it seems like people just give their opinion as to a measured performance.
Not sure how many people would be interested in this, but could be an untapped niche.
Main use would be for over the air hdtv content running plex.
dude you don't want to install the aio like that.. tubing must be upward
I was going to say the same thing but he's probably not bothered.
Thank you, Prime 👍
8x PCIe 4.0 lanes makes the 8600/8700G a tough sell. Some consumers will assume this has 16 x PCIe 5.0, and will be disappointed during testing, most especially those who saved up for a dGPU far down the road beyond rma window 😢
Kindest regards, neighbours and friends.
What is the "a little bit of tweaking" which helped the iGPU reach max speed? Why didn't you mention it?
We need to see Emulation on these things!!! 🎉
can’t wait to see ayaneo fire one of these in their next handheld lol 😂
Needs to cost less than equivalent CPU/GPU combo otherwise it's pointless really. Back when I 1st subbed to this channel the 2200G came out and was a big deal due to the price to performance, the current APUs aren't going to be nearly as attractive despite the relatively impressive performance.
Like 5600G in the past, this is the sweet spot for small form factor builds. Better thermals and power usage.
I am super curious how emulation would work on these!!
MegaTranfers, TOPS. Just strange to hear that. It's more common to say terraflops en 7200 megahertz. But we would all love to see some switch emulation on these igpu's ❤
Is there any upcoming video,SteamOS on this crystal?
The 8600G is a slightly less bad deal for its price than the 8700G. And you still need the expensive AM5 platform. But thx for the test. Can't wait to see you do some emulation on it!
Honestly, I am impressed on the performance the iGPU is bringing to the table. Some already mentioned that it's in the Area of RX6400 or GTX 1650, but that's the same area as my old beloved GTX 970 OC but with modern architecture 😅
Let's the calculation start for a new build and save some money for it 😊
No the 8700G is more in the area of the 960... doesnt even come close of the 1060 (Btw I've seen very different results in different games... don't be fooled by the many positive ones atm)
@@erikkarsies4851 you might be right and on top of that it will highly depend on the game and several other factors.
Nevertheless gives it an indication of what the iGPUs are managing compared to older GPUs and with updated drivers it will increase even more 🤔
@@erikkarsies4851 8700g = hd 7970's performance
@@Dragonhannes No, in some rare cases it will reach the level of performance of the 1060 . That won't make it the card which it is equal with and again AMD has people fooled by early leaks and selectively presented game performance.
you trying to tell me that overclocking the 760m to 3.2ghz can make it run as fast as the 780m?
I was definitely expecting a 5600g comparison. Well, maybe next time.
damn, integrated GPU has improved so much, holy crap...that's really amazing considering lots of us would not buy GPU bricks...yet..
AMD is the best 👍 Intel sucks 👎🏻
For iGPUs this really isn't bad at all. I'm wondering what performance will look like when Strix Point / RDNA 3.5 hits the scene.
Waiting for 40 compute units!
Is there a comparison of the 8600G with different RAM speeds? I've seen reviews that show that for the 8700G but due to the fewer graphic units it could have a smaller effect on the 8600G's performance.
AMD spec says the 8000G RAM speed is PC5200 so it would be great to include that.
In spec sheet its mentioned that it supports only 5200Mt/s but how can we use 7000Mt/s Ram, someone pls explain, I don't know about overclocking. Building a new PC with 8600g in near time.
2024 and last night i played *The Witcher 3 Next Gen* update with high and medium setting and it still runs with decent FPS on *R5 5600G* so this video blows me away on how far *AMD* with their iGPU can go..
That iGPU literally double the FPS from R5 5600G, AMD really improving so much and a really gamer friendly neighborhood, thanks *AMD* 🤝🏻
is there any videos on a 8500G? Seems like a really good price point.
Missing the temps from both (8700G and 8600G). Usually you mention power consumption, temps and noise at the end of the video.
I feel this this chip shows that the future integrated graphics will be stagnant for a few years...
Well, Intel says, "Hold my beer."
@@Chris.Brisson doubtful
Wouldn’t a mini with a 7840 perform as well and cost less?
All I'm hearing from others is the 8600G is too expensive for the performance compare to a low end graphics card and mediocre chip. My vague recollection is that a long (long) time ago you could get an APU and get it to run in Crossfire so when you added an external GPU it wasn't taking over entirely. Which meant there was a theoretical upgrade path making it viable. Basically if you can't get better performance for you money with an APU vs CPU+GPU they seem to be a bit pointless. I haven't yet seen anyone do any serious testing of them though, or even do the simple option of call AMD and ask them what the heck they're for? Most of the people I watch absolutely have AMD contacts and frequently interview them.
An APU is interesting to a person who has other use for the PCIe x16 slot normally intended for a discrete GPU card (like, say, if the motherboard supports a bifurcated PCIe 5.0 x16 for a quad NVMe SSD card). The 8700G and 8600G APUs, however, do not support PCIe 5.0 and offer only 8 lanes of PCIe 4.0 beyond 4 lanes for the system SSD. It remains to be seen what, if anything, can be done with the PCIe 5.0 x16 lanes supported by an X670 motherboard.
At least the 8300G will become a way for gamers to get on the AM5 platform for cheap
740M iGPU is still very bad, I doubt people will choose 8300G or 8500G over 5600G. 8600G is still the lowest acceptable APU in the 8000 line-up
I'm looking for something with a little more performance In switch and ps3 emulation than my 5600 G. but i'm not keen on buying a whole new platform just yet.
You should have set your vram to use 4GB or maybe more, its supposed to do it automatically but a lot of the times it doesn't work
based on the fact your vram never went over the default 512mb id assume you'll get much better results if you tested again with 4 or 8 gigs of vram
How dose gpu vs igou Ram usage differ? It seems to me like thats one of the main issues here. It seems like they could put more graphics dedicated vram on these motherboards the igou could use. I noticed in your testing the vram is at 512mb which is 1/8 of what a lower end 4gb gpu uses. Also igpus are using DDR5 while gpus use DDR6. This seems to be an issue these manufactures don't want to fix because if they did there gpu sales would suffer.
How does this compare to the 30w 780m in the handhelds?
Perhaps the reason Rise of the tomb raider underperformed where Miles Morales didn’t was because of optimization?
I know ROTTR was focused on Nvidia performance whereas MM was originally a PS5 exclusive and the PS5 rocks AMD hardware which would explain why a Ryzen processor could run it better.
3:22 why it doesn't show the NPU?
Can you do installation of windows for Beelink mini pc and others mini pc?
Honestly id rerun all the gaming tests while using ChimeraOS as there could be a performance difference because maybe Shadow of the Tomb Raider could play on medium instead and get in the ball park 50fps+ for both the 8600G and 8700G same for games like CP2077 could get closer to 60fps for all we know.
He says in his every video that it's the best he tested 😒😒 to every system he discovers lol even the thumbnail
7:08 You need to set the VRAM allocation in the BIOS for these chips, otherwise the performance MAY be reduced in some games. Thats why the result is absolute sh1te, even the ROG Ally beats both of them.
Is 16GB ddr5 good enough for these games and this 8600g chip?
Bro can you bring up compare on 8700g vs 1650 ❤
Comparison video 5600G vs 8600G would be nice!
All versions of the apu should’ve contained them
Why is no one reviewing the new AM4 socket 5000 series APUs? Didn't they release with the 8000 series APUs?
Bro what happened to the 8200mhz ram kit testing?
Probably saving it for another video
I'm wondering if somebody who is willing to spend that kind of money to wring out a little more performance would actually be interested in an APU with a borked PCIe implementation.
Basically only get this for streaming app, retro console and older PC games for 90w with a noctua cooler
Gpu-z and afterburner are only reporting 500 megabytes video memory. Not sure if this is a bug or it's not allocating
It doesn't work automatically like it's supposed to, not sure if it's a motherboard issue or a game issue but you are better off setting it in bios
बढ़िया ❤
can u still pair the 8600G with a graphics card?
Which intel i5 13th gen is it equal to in performance not igpu wise
It's faster than the Intel i5 13700k,
I'm confused by the RAM choice. Ryzen CPUs seem to prefer tight timings over raw speed. 6000 or 6400 MT with CL30 are better value than spending extra for 7000+ MT with slower timings.
The assertion here is that the iGPU thrives on raw speed, and this was aptly demonstrated during his previous test of the 8700G.
where those dark backgrounds are😢?
Official global release of 8XXX series?
How did you tweak the igpu?
Emulation is the only thing that this thing might excel at... it's better to get discrete graphics for gaming.
I wonder if this apu, one of AMD's latest, that can run Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p, will do well emulation?.... 🤔/s
Cyberpunk 2077 1080p low runs average over 60 fps.
why you never get 5ghz boost clock ??
I don't claim to know what I'm talking about (lol), but from what I've researched, it seems a pc with 6C/12T can't handle more demanding emulation that well, like PS3, vs a pc with 8C/16T or more.
I think right now when we got a lot of affordable GPUs it's pointless to go for an apu for such price. However I thought that 760m would be much worse than 780m
I’d love to see FPS for COD Modern Warfare.
Is there any wifi 7 card for amd cpu ?
Whats up with the 8500g???
not a full review, you should use it with E-GPU to fully get an idea where it stands for the competition, thanks for the video
i still dont really see the purpose of these cpus on desktop, but at least this one isnt as horrible as the 8700g is
It's like a ps4 pro i like it 🔥
What happens if I put this in the legion go...
That price is close to a R5 7600 + RX 6400 combined... so I dont think I'd buy one anytime soon.
You guys do understand that ps5 uses amd APUs that use rdna2 that are 5 years old now. And can crush these things. They have way more CUs I dont understand why amd doesnt rebrand those chips or make some fascimilar.. these could be ALOT faster, just saying.
💪😎🎸 KILLA 🎸👻
Who won the legion go?
Problem with these new G series cpus is price due to which they fail to serve their purpose which to be a good entry lvl option for gamers who can't afford a dGPU. If it isn't below 200 usd it is not an entry lvl.
They cost about same if not more than last gen high performance cpus ( 600x series) , the money saved it better off spent on a used 1650 , 1060 that gives double the performance.
Another problem is high idle power consumption , it's higher than fking Intel i7 chip as well as 1060 , 1650 @65w making it unfit. avg power draw is only 30-50w lower than the others.
Cool new upgrades in power but the price is horrible. Used to be the Ryzen APUs would be a terrific alternative to a low end cpu gpu combo but not anymore. This is a really good Cpu with a horribly priced and worthless GPU (Especially considering the price of compatible chipsets and DDR5 memory )
AM5 motherboards pricing is cruel. DDR5 RAMs have come down in price a little
Hardware Unboxed said these APUs are completely pointless except in very niche scenarios.
Rsr works on that apu?
Nah, honestly, they get an F for the Price
You’re better off with a separate GPU
What a disappointment for AMD…..
I would gladly showing emulation benchmark instead bored aaa gaming benchmark
This vs legion go?
Cant even handle 1080p60 lower settings, relying on upscales and always dropping to 50s and more demanding games you go deeper to 30s (avatar). Yet it is 2x more expensive than 5600G, and if you compare the whole build it may get even worse. Things are getting better but getting equally expensive, nvidia was right, moore law is absolutely dead. I dont see the hype.
5600g was more expensive on launch but it made sense because it was scalper pandemic. Also the am4 is the best for budget builds too. Unlike the 8600g it a bit cheaper but the am5 platform is expensive specially the ram. Also lower end gpus are cheaper now.
Show some emulation
Im 2 years seeing this cuberpunk videos and always is the same, 1080 y
With some scale and its more or less 60fps.
I dont see any inorovement
