I’m from Barbados 🇧🇧🇺🇸 and we did the same thing. The text books were borrowed (text book loan scheme) so you had to care for them and turn them back in at the end of the school term.

I remember when it came to wrapping the books and I would always have mine in the brown paper and my friends would have the different colour contact paper and some had a little grit on them so you could use your nails and make a sound on them. I wasn’t in the contact paper crew but I liked to seem them. Lol

The best feeling for me when its the beginning of school in High School is when you get contact wrapping paper for one of the books that was rented. What it meant for me is one less book to wrap and it was pretty...all now I remember the pick and lime green ones.
