I never thought of people ‘questioning’ you to undermine your diagnosis. But shouldn’t be surprised. It makes it even more amazing that you share your personal lives with us 💗. I’m sure you know who the many more of us are who care, ask questions from a genuine want to understand more, and hope that gives you support when seeing the negative. Thanks for sharing 💕

To be honest with you Mark, what you say actually makes more sense than what a lot of therapists etc have said to me before. I was told recently that I do not suffer with anxiety because I am able to make eye contact, dress well and can talk coherently. I rest my case 🙈
I also cant possibly say I have social anxiety if I am able to go in a shop and ask where the eggs are ??? !!!!!
Seriously...... mental health is so very misunderstood and so neglected too in my opinion.
Thankyou for all you do xx

We are more than a diagnosis but getting a diagnosis can be a stepping stone to understanding why we are who we are. You are a very brave man that truely wears his heart on his sleeve. Thankyou for being wonderfully you xxx

So wish I could get my 16 year old lad with autism assessed , he’s so crippled with anxiety and phobias :( Instead he’s on a waiting list with promises of call backs that never happen. We didn’t get a diagnosis till he was 14 years old due to lack of services and never had any support from no one. This needs to change they are too many people suffering .

I think there's still a lot of misrepresentation in the media about what Bipolar is like. This was a poignant chat. You are showing and educating people on the reality of Bipolar II and ADD, brother. I think the misconception can be we are like a faucet where we are either all the way on or all the way off, when there are so many subtle nuances in between that make it up. I've also found there's a lot more of the subtle nuances of Bipolar as I get older. Whether that's fueled somewhat by a lower natural testosterone count or not, I'm not sure. But, I don't cycle as frequently as I used to as when I was younger. But, there's a lot of the ebb and flow to it now. Similar to hillsides as opposed to mountains. Fantastic chat, brother. Much love guys.

It annoys me when people say that they get bad anxiety, but because they can get through it. They just don't understand you when you can't get through it. People just don't understand clinical anxiety which I find quite ignorant.

Hi lucy ...I completely agree, I've had anxiety for years and at my worst I was having between 20 and 30 panic attacks daily which was absolutely horrendous and extremely tiresome. I did not sleep for 4 years for fear of panics! I was Agrophobic for 4 years, my symptoms were at the top end of the anxiety scale probably around 20 symptoms from my leg involuntarily shaking wear as it went so skinny! Dizziness, sickness, etc etc et. Etc ...my worst symptom was my heart rate it was always on average between 120 to 180 ..the specialist said I was the worse case he had ever witnessed! Yet like you people just said it's just anxiety, why can you not leave your home , get over it , it's all in your head , so yes the ignorance from some was actually very cruel . I would not wish it on my worst enemy ! All I wanted was not to wake up to face the same day of horror, I actually said to my doctors if I had 10 million pounds I would give it to you if you told me tomorrow I would wake up symptom free ! This was around 5 years ago when I started to feel a little normal and each day I got stronger and less anxious...I never ever thought I would get better but I did, I'm not completely free from anxiety I still suffer and always will but I'm living again and leave the house and laugh again so from that living hell I can promise people it will get better because honestly I did! Sending you a hug and don't let the bast....ds drag you down because people with anxiety are special , why ? Because I believe them people have huge hearts and feel peoples pain and are full of empathy and that is why they suffer . Take care ..❤

@@samanthaobertelle4966 It sounds like you went through a nightmare!! I'm glad that you're better. I remember when I had my first episode of anxiety and panic attacks 12 years ago. I remember telling the therapist that if this is what mental illness feels like, I don't know how people live with this for even one moment in time!! And that is when I understood how extremely courageous people suffering from anxiety really are.

@@fsp230 Thank you and yes it was a nightmare...to the point I tryed ending it all! ...I've lost friends because many don't understand me ..but the thing is I give my all in friendship, I'm the loyal one, the one who would give you my last penny , the one who would be there know matter the time or place! ..when I got sick I was on my own ! ...I dealt with it on my own! ..even now I have friends but I feel lonely because I feel different because I struggle with shyness and I struggle being around lots of people ..that's the anxiety! ...but you know I would rather have one friend and be rid of anxiety ! ...you have to learn that many people only want you when you are well ...but thats not friends...friends is good and bad days ! ..anyway less of my chattering 🤣🤣....hope you are doing well...because we got this and we are beating it ! ..😊❤

Thank you for sharing your very personal experiences of bipolar Mark. My mum was diagnosed around 2014 after a massive breakdown which resulted in her being sectioned and spending a month as inpatient. Its only on reflection and looking back to my childhood I now realise it was always there. Her moods were quite unstable at times but we always thought that was just how it was, she'd been through a heartbreaking split with my dad, her mother was very ill, her father passed away when she was 18. She had an operation which went wrong and left her with long term issues. Interesting to hear you mention epilepsy, my mum started having seizures after her dad died, she never seemed to be able to cope with the guilt of him dying and her having just left home to train to be a nurse. She's most certainly going to be on medication for life, although she's now on a very low dosage- a maintenance dose she's definitely very much a different person and at times I feel like I've lost my mum, she finds it difficult now to feel emotional so is not always very supportive, of course covid has been a massive kicker, no f2f psychiatric appointment since before the pandemic when she's supposed to be seen every 6months.
Anyway sorry for rambling, I wish you well on your continuing journey navigating the highs and lows, the ups and downs of medication. Certainly makes life interesting 😉

You’re very eloquent at discussing mental health, because you have experience of the peaks and troughs of all the effects
I know my friend doesn’t really believe I suffer from anxiety and depression because of how I appear , my closest friend actually advised me to have counselling over a year ago and if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have realised I needed it - she has known me for over 20 years and thanks to her , I’m having counselling - but I’m sure I will never be perfect as no one is perfect, what ever that may be
I also knew someone who was forever saying’ You should’ - agree , there is no should - or shouldn’t
It takes a strong person to achieve what you are achieving
Everyone has some form of mental illness - we are all here to evolve
Glad you going to become a therapist , as the people who have suffered make the best ones - ie Carl Jung
Thank you for sharing Mark , I’m sure you’re enjoying your course

Hi Mark. Welcome to the bipolar II and lamotrigine club. Thank you for being so open. That you're studying to help other people through your experiences is so powerful. One step closer to a better world. Thank you. You have come so far. We subs are proud of you. And I'm looking forward to following your path in the future. For me the bipolar II dignosis was a relief because I could put a name on it and learn from other people and finally knew that something could be done about it. Before it was just pure chaos. Now,( thanks to meds; lamotrigine and valporate and lifestyle change) I'm in charge. Bipolar on the epilepsy spectrum sounds very interesting. If possible could you please share good books / websites on bipolar II (if you come across any)? Pretty please? Maybe in the Sunday Show? I want to learn more. But there is so much out there I don't know where to start. It is rather overwhelming. There is a good RUclips channel called Polar Warriors out there, fyi. Sending much love to you and Nadia. All the best from a fellow bipolar II warrior.

Im already diagnosed with crippling severe anxiety so I’m prescribed 3 Xanax a day and that’s bad enough because now my entire life just revolves around making sure they last a whole month and when I can take my next one. I’m 99 percent sure I have undiagnosed ADD and PTSD but I’m afraid to bring it up to my therapist or psychiatrist because they’re just gonna put me on medications that scare the shit out of me. They all have “possible side affects” that sound more scary than the ptsd and panic attacks themselves. The PTSD was caused by watching three of my friends get murdered, one of which died in my arms and watching two others overdose with me unsuccessfully trying to give them CPR and I can’t bring myself to bring it up to any professional but here I am telling a stranger from a different country on the Internet, life’s a trip

Reality when I had ME was fighting it made it worse, accepting and learning to listen to my body was essential. Thanks for sharing so honestly you will be helping so many. 💙

You describe your struggles and so well Mark. Thank you for sharing such a difficult and personal part of your life. I can usually pick up in the lives when you’re not feeling good. But I can’t put it into words I just can tell. A diagnosis takes a while to accept, often looking back over your lifetime like a giant jigsaw - the diagnosis being the final piece that makes everything fit into place. I’ve had comments and misinterpretations about my disabilities which are mostly invisible. It’s very distressing and hurtful. For people who do not suffer with bipolar 2 and ADD this will help them to see what you go through. We love you for who you are, take care xx

Plus you don't want your friends avoiding you because you bring the mood down and are miserable to be around at these times I make excuses to stay away from people and shut myself away

Mark your helping so many people because yes many don't understand and it's just horrendous trying to get through your day and when people say get over it , or pull your self together, or it's all in your head! You would not say that to a person with an illness you can see! Mental health is now getting better recognised but not enough and until these ignorant people go through it them selves then they will realise how dibitotating it is ...your a fabulous speaker and you understand because you deal with it day in day out so you understand what others like yourself are going through , we need more influencers to talk openly and then hopefully it will reach a wider audience and then the many who still don't get it might just show a little more empathy instead of the pull your self together words . 🙏❤

Childhood Trauma accounts for much of the conditioning (for me). Constant cranking “up” to adhere to the rhythm of home life and crashing “down” in sequence with the antics and dysfunctions of its prison. The rhythm becomes a lifelong freight train. With substances and additions slowing or increasing the pace the train glides at. Trauma informed therapy while it is chemotherapy for the Soul can alleviate some of my distress. Peer Groups offering fellowship and meds to take the sharp and funnelling edges. Love your self awareness and articulation. Wise to question it all. It is not an exact science. Us humans do not do well in limiting boxes. Best wishes to all here. Cookie Carol

Hi Mark thanks for raising awareness and expressing your thoughts about your personal diagnosis. I agree with the fact that we don't question ourselves enough as humans which magnifies any mental health condition more. I understand myself more as I get older but unfortunately in my teens no diagnosis existed really sleeping pills were dished out to relax and numb and I was left with no long term plan struggling for many years but now although I have decided to reduce my medication myself . I am seeking a long term plan alongside homeopathy so I can take some self control back I know my own brain triggers and all I have is hope and each day that's all ... I look forward to your next video and sharing all our thoughts lots of love and hugs to you and your family xxxx

Your so right Mark you learn to hide it especially if your not diagnosed until later in life, even when on treatment is not enough to take it all away, but i have learned i don't need drugs or drink to be social and make people laugh. Sending positive vibes your way ❤️

Really gd Mark & so helpful to talk about. Ppl say that about me. They nvr believe i get depressed. I hv miles of ideas all the time and its exhausting.
I find many ppl quite boring and unfunny and unfeeling and so i like to be upbeat to kp things interesting and fun and to cope with ppl i find DULL i hv to deal with as they mke me feel even more down.

If you were concerned about somebody and definitely think there is something going on, what would you suggest to be the first move? X

    • @sawalhaadderleys
      @sawalhaadderleys  2 года назад +1

If you can sit them down and listen. Then if your concerns persist - recommend that you AND they go see the GP and seek some kind of referral to a therapist - when I say that I realise that on the NHS this is tough - but that is the right order of events … failing that reach out to charities like Mind or Young Minds. If you are a friend of someone who is outwardly struggling it is usually and often quite straightforward to identify what MIGHT be the main problem so you can then reach out to the appropriate support group xxx

Mark I recommend lavender pillow spray with eye mask from Poundland £3.00 to help you with your sleep and cosy socks worth a try. You are such a lovely man. You & Nadia,s chats have helped me & all the subs so much. 🥰 also a heavy blanket which I find helps to relax you.

I wonder if that’s why my mentals are the way they are. I use to have night time epilepsy… I am nervous and scared and stupid as it’s sounds because I’ve been to the doctors so many times due to other health reasons but this it’s like a brick wall that I can’t go.
