Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you why I’ve decided to end the current boat project and start a new one. I know this isn’t the first time, but building boats is a unique process and a unique opportunity came. I grabbed it. You can't be too emotionally attached to any one path. Sometimes, despite all the effort, you realize that moving forward requires a new approach. You have to focus on what's best for the build, even if it means letting go of what you've already done. It's all about pursuing the best possible outcome, the fastest way to get to the NZ ice cream and that's exactly what I'm doing here. Thanks for your continued support!

I think it's a good decision for exactly the reasons you mentioned. When a good opportunity comes, you must take it. Maybe it will give you more joy to work on the Bris design again, upgrading it with new ideas from the plywood boat and other boats that you have built since the Bris. But this time all in divinycell, not plywood, which means it's not just a prototype. I think it's a good decision! I can almost smell the ice cream 🙂

I have learned not to be too surprised by these radical shifts. Such a great project to refit an older design of your own with your updated knowledge. It is spring here in New Zealand and the cows are busy preparing for your arrival. As a New Zealander I will be voluntarily taking on a regular quality control program of the nations ice cream producers to ensure quality remains high in anticipation of your arrival. Please feel free to check in at any time for a status update!

Hi Sven. I am Gerry. I started the ice cream in New Zealand thread many months ago. I was using a different name, and account back then, but it was me. :-)
I live in Christchurch and I had planned to travel to Dunedin to deliver the ice cream.
It occurs to me that the ice cream will melt on such a long journey, so I will find the best ice cream in Dunedin, and I will take you there.

Your ability to change your mind on a thing that is so personal to you at your age is beyond fascinating to me. Compared to similar aged people in my life, I see stubborness, clinging onto what is familiar and visible distraught by unexpected situations.
In your case I see adaption and an embrace for the unexpected.

Fantastic! We can see you have a passion for design and building boats, but having a base to start with will save lots of time and get you on the sea faster. I know I'll never build my own boat but if I could just buy a small boat and make it unsinkable and bulletproof I'd sail away today.

chacun de son côté on a fait la même navigation du sud Portugal à l'île de Lanzarotte chacun avec ses galères, ses joies et ses peurs...des souvenirs extraordinaires entre les constructions, les essais en Baltique la nav à 3 bateaux avec le Sofia de Christer vers Stockholm .. les plus belles années ... avec la rencontre de Sven sur la côte Ouest et la magie de dormir à bord de son Bris 6...grand merci Sven pour tout ses grands moments partagés...

Having a chance to use your experience to build on a past design, with a complete hull form, should get you on the water sooner.

If the ice cream in NZ is that much better, then I should keep silent. It's a pity for us 25k Subs, who tune in every day if you go away for so long. It was pleasantly chocking to see that actual production boats were made from the Bris concept. Could it be revived with the permission of Big Brother?

En helt annan fråga: Varför är det ingen om använder hängkoj? Alltför obekvämt? Borde väl ha en fördel i orienteringen i horisontalled.
On sailing ships with a lot of rooms it can swing.
On a small boat there absolutely no space for such a thing

I wonder why 2 or 2 masts is better than 1 in a style of boat such as this?
You can move center of of effort of the sail force giving her weather helm or lee helm depending on weather.
Also reducing sail area is very easy just taking down one sail

Hello Oscar, there is a great deal of information about Sven and his boats online - perhaps you will find the information you seek there. He has also written several books, they might help.

But it is Divinycell epoxy and polyester fibers not glass all expensive high quality components

This is a faster way and the boat is insulated means less mild dew in the Roaring Forties
