Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you why I’ve decided to end the current boat project and start a new one. I know this isn’t the first time, but building boats is a unique process and a unique opportunity came. I grabbed it. You can't be too emotionally attached to any one path. Sometimes, despite all the effort, you realize that moving forward requires a new approach. You have to focus on what's best for the build, even if it means letting go of what you've already done. It's all about pursuing the best possible outcome, the fastest way to get to the NZ ice cream and that's exactly what I'm doing here. Thanks for your continued support!
So happy for you! I almost lost belief in seeing you set sail at all, but there you go! A ready to go (almost) boat, designed by yourself! This is incredible, cheers! all the best
I think it's a good decision for exactly the reasons you mentioned. When a good opportunity comes, you must take it. Maybe it will give you more joy to work on the Bris design again, upgrading it with new ideas from the plywood boat and other boats that you have built since the Bris. But this time all in divinycell, not plywood, which means it's not just a prototype. I think it's a good decision! I can almost smell the ice cream 🙂
Hello Sven. First of all, I want to say I am truly inspired by you. Your ability to change your mind on a thing that is so personal to you at your age is beyond fascinating to me. Compared to similar aged people in my life, I see stubborness, clinging onto what is familiar and visible distraught by unexpected situations. In your case I see adaption and an embrace for the unexpected. Keep doing you Sven!
I have learned not to be too surprised by these radical shifts. Such a great project to refit an older design of your own with your updated knowledge. It is spring here in New Zealand and the cows are busy preparing for your arrival. As a New Zealander I will be voluntarily taking on a regular quality control program of the nations ice cream producers to ensure quality remains high in anticipation of your arrival. Please feel free to check in at any time for a status update!
Very happy for you! I like that you can switch things up and not get stuck on a single path. I enjoy the boat building and I would enjoy some sailing videos even more!!! Can’t wait to see you on an adventure sailing again. Ice cream awaits!
Hi Sven. I am Gerry. I started the ice cream in New Zealand thread many months ago. I was using a different name, and account back then, but it was me. :-) I live in Christchurch and I had planned to travel to Dunedin to deliver the ice cream. It occurs to me that the ice cream will melt on such a long journey, so I will find the best ice cream in Dunedin, and I will take you there. Safe travels my friend. 🙂

Fantastic! We can see you have a passion for design and building boats, but having a base to start with will save lots of time and get you on the sea faster. I know I'll never build my own boat but if I could just buy a small boat and make it unsinkable and bulletproof I'd sail away today.
I met Mr Sven att Båtmässan Älvsjö when his Bris was new. Long time ago. more than 35 years ago. Wish I had one boat like this. I was 15 at the time and remember Sven got bigger beard those days.
And why do I check in every day for years? Because Yrvind is open to ideas and opportunity, for the sake of ice cream... I learn so much from your modelling an open mind, and trying new things. This will likely be your first retrofit of your design, built by another. I look forward to a tour of the new to you boat, learn about the enhancements to the 30 ish year old design and learning of your plans to head to sea.... All the best!! 🍦

This boat from 30 years ago is better than the ones of last few years.. boats that were too narrow, too tender and too slow... This is better way to go than the recent foam boat
This is the boat that Johan silen sailed 12 years ago. I met Johan in sandvik on Öland sailing my westerly jouster . Johan had to turn back because of health issues. we spent a week together in sandvik having a good time. I think he named her Karin.
Hello Mr. Sven, I was a fisherman and I've always wanted to sail the seas, My name is Ary and I would like to know where I can find the construction plan for this boat, could you tell me?
If the ice cream in NZ is that much better, then I should keep silent. It's a pity for us 25k Subs, who tune in every day if you go away for so long. It was pleasantly chocking to see that actual production boats were made from the Bris concept. Could it be revived with the permission of Big Brother? Please tell us this story. Con: A cumbersome undertaking to modify an already finished hull with all the storage compartments you will need.
Hi Sven, I love your adventures and projects/experiments - thanks for showing them. May I ask - when you come into harbours, do they charge you as they do most yachts, by the metre? Or do they let you stay for a free? What's their attitude towards people making and sailing little experimental boats, in the various countries? Best wishes.
What is old is new again. Having a chance to use your experience to build on a past design, with a complete hull form, should get you on the water sooner.
