Honestly with stud shooters, at first it was like, “Wow this is cool it can fire pieces”

I really don't like minifigures with stud-shooters. The weapons look too fake and toy-like, just like the really old megaphone piece with the red stud at the end. I don't mind play features, but they shouldn't exist if they detract from the look/aesthetic/accuracy of the set.

nightfury 7 I was collecting them since I was about 6 in 1999, and back then there was no play features, they were just models that you build. That was the point of Lego. Making them was the fun part, then you use your imagination just like pretty much any other toy, such as toy cars or action figures or teddy bears or whatever, they don't need to "do" anything. Plus I collected them because I loved Star Wars, and loved Lego, not because I loved pressing buttons that shoot things, there was already other toys for that like those guns that shoot plunger darts. And like I said, I don't mind them adding okay features, as long as it doesn't take away from the look of the model. The older (2008 or so) Hailfire Droid was a good example of that done right. It had 8 flick-fire missiles, but they actually looked like missiles and were supposed to be missiles, so it functioned like it was supposed to AND looked like it was supposed to. Having ships with panels that open up is fine too, because it still looks like the ship when it's closed, but you can open it to play with it if you want to. I still have a lot of ships in my collection from 2005 and 2006, and the play features were very minimal, some of them have none, because you play with the ship itself, the whole thing is a okay feature, that's what toys are. Plus they barely ever had stickers, it was mostly printed pieces and just the odd sticker when necessary. I was still a child back then and I loved them that way. I mean, different toys do different things. If you want one that does a certain thing, you buy one that does that thing. They don't have to change something that was made for something else. If a child likes Star Wars, and Lego, they'll want them anyway. If they want a toy that shoots, they'll buy some sort of gun that's designed to shoot something. It's not like nobody likes Lego the way it was, it's not like it didn't sell. Companies just love to change stuff even when it's already good. Just like how they ruin games with updates when everybody begs them to just make it like it was before, but instead they just keep adding new features that nobody asked for.

That Rogue One AT-ST and the new Hoth AT-ST really make me wanna see a new version of the UCS AT-ST set. With modern SNOT techniques, and the general refined look Lego has for their UCS kits nowadays, I could see it being incredibly good. Maybe even boasting an interior like the UCS AT-AT.

Good list, well researched, but I would have put the Battle On Scarif higher. Not only does the inclusion of the extra weapons bolster any battle packs by replacing the stud shooters, but it offers unique pieces, several effective play features, and it's modular so you can combine them easily to form a larger landing pad.
Also, it's price-to-weight ratio his $0.112 US per gram, putting it under the average $0.136 per gram of these sets.

Will Manthorpe so a single reload for a stud-shooter is worth the same price as a 6x12 modified plate? I don't think so. Bigger pieces will skew price-to-part to above $0.11 per piece, which is the average. Price-to-weight is the way to go.
what's awesome about the krennic shuttle is that you can also get the microfighter and use the shuttle pilot

That set is a mix of ESP (empire strikes back) and ofcourse, the free maker adventures, it's just that it was made in 2016 so they used that death trooper icon, sort of like the 2010 hoth rebel trooper battle pack, 8083, it is based off of the empire strikes back hoth battle, but in 2010 sets used clone wars icons, but that doesn't make that set a clone wars one
At 9:21, I found it interesting how in the final U-Wing picture you showed, the rebel trooper from the Tie Striker was pictured, as well as no pilot.

Shame the Death Troopers in the Battle Pack don't have the pauldrons like the ones in the Imperial Shuttle .

The TIE Striker is definitely underrated--it did require some modification, but I now have wing-mounted blasters and a bomb-dropping feature in the rear compartment.
Does any one else miss the old y wing design with actual covers over the enigines? I do one of my favorite sets ever.
I mean it's not an old y wing design, it is a new one set in an older time period. The prequels were made after the OT, and clone wars etc wouldn't exist without those films, I agree, it's a refreshing and nice design, but it wasn't the first

In my opinion the Battle on Scarif set is really poor, it's hard to describe but there's nothing that I like about the set besides the minifigures and that's why it would be my choose after the polybags. The imperial battle pack is nice because of the death troopers, however, the design of the walker reminds me of other science fiction movies like avater, but not Star Wars, so I would put the set on a lower place.
And for the Top 3: My favourite new Fighter/Tank/whatever is the U-Wing! It's such a good design and the functions are amazing. However, as the Lego set could be a little bit better, maybe just in 2 points, I would put it on 2nd place and the Y-Wing on 1st as there is nothing to complain about this set, just amazing!!!
I found Krennic's shuttle at Wal-Mart on sale for $35... that was the best buy I have ever found on Legos!

I think the Battle of Scarif/75171 is the best Rogue one set because it not only can give you a chance to upgrade your Stormtrooper army with two Shoretroopers, but it also gives you a chance at getting Jyn and Cassian, two of the main protagonists. Not to mention the build also is accurate to the bunker on Scarif, as well as the incorporated play features that come with it, despite the fact that Jyn and Cassian were never at the bunker in the film.
I got a Tie Striker for 45 bucks at Walmart yesterday I am still freaking out over finding that. I really enjoyed this video and can not wait for the next one. 100% going to subscribe.

I have to agree with this list. Once I finally broke down and picked up the shuttle (on sale $20 off), I found it to be a great build. Although I really like the walker and am thinking about picking up a couple more.

The rebel trooper battle pack is my second most bought set, at three, and it was great for my rebel army. I bought 4 of the hover tank, and that has got to be my favorite set. I extended it a little and it looks nice.

The sets I love (both Battle Packs, U-Wing, Y-Wing, Battle on Scarift, Krennic Shuttle, Tie Strieker, Hovertank (runs on tread but), AT-ST and Vader Castle) and what Lego needs (AT-ACT, Zeta Class Shuttle, Tie Reaper), funny enough two of those vehicles are also in SW Jedi Fallen Order.

If you bought the 2014 um that bar set with Luke, old ben kanobi, greedo, Han Solo, thoses music guys and the sand truper you would get that poldrn thing and two imperial Battle packs (the one with two storm trupers and two Deate trupers) you can give the poldrn to a Death truper and have one of the comander guys like in black shuttle and 3 normal death trupes and 4 storm trupers and you can make a pretty good walker with the tow mini ones!
I love the hovertank and the imperial shuttle. I like the Y-wing and the imperial troop battle pack

I regret not getting a Rogue One Lego Y Wing. A local Toys R Us had them for $40 as they went out of business.

I have the u wing and it’s a nice set, the back fold down hatch is well it’s there but you can’t really use it as it’s blocked up by all the parts that hold the ship together, the front part could probably stand 4 minifigs in it (I never tryed as I’m more of a ship guy) if I had to pick one bad thing to say about it ied say the wings, when they are folded out it looks ok but it gets really big, it’s wider than the millennium falcon (just remembered how meny version are out there, the force awakens one)
My box that I got for Christmas from "Santa" (I know he's fake) said "Admiral Addus". Misprint much :P
