    Most underrated band ever, never seem to get mentioned anywhere. Saw them live 3 times, they put on a great concert.

      Apparently the reason the song didn’t do well, was the heavily sexualized content….and also one of the reasons Brianna left the band.

      Yeah but this song was 29 years old even when you wrote this comment. The Beautiful South were quite well rated in their heyday. It would be expected 29 years later for them not to be on everyone's radar

    I've always loved Beautiful South - I feel blessed that I managed to see them play live many times - 36D is a masterpiece in music and lyrics - from that dreamy intro it's such a song of beauty - hope they come back to do what they do best - playing live...

    In my personal opion this is one of there best song they have ever recorded, the lyrics have such a poiniont message, and Dave's voice is perfect for this song.

    I read that this song is the reason why Briana Corrigan left the band, because she felt the song targeted the glamour models instead of targeting the media as sexist. Doesn't really change the fact that this song is amazing.

    It is tragic when this generation of teenagers, which happens to be my generation, doesn't know good music. The Beautiful South are one of the greatest bands ever, in my opinion, and kids haven't even heard of them. It's sad.

    From a purely musical stand point, Dave has a much better and purer singing voice than Paul. I would love for him to have sung more.

      weird how people have different opinions ,in my mind growing up he was the main singer and Paul underplayed himself ,daves voice is excellent but it is a little generic Paul has that quirky thing going on which is amazing too in a different way

I also happen to think paul has one of the most distinctive voices ive heard and i just think a lot of people dont actually get this song and what it represents

      +Jo Fletcher I think it's multiple meaning mate, from one perspective it's a prostitute who is trying to tell the gentlemen she services that she's more than a chest, yet the opposing argument is of men who look to find her business want a little more than a bird with big tits. Or it could be the relationship between fuck buddies who just can't live with each other but cannot exist without each other too. Or it could be a local 'bike' looking to escape her destiny as a another single mum statistic by wishing for more in life. Or it could be the plight of men who have to act a certain way because society expects them to be menly men and just man up and shag her, when all the time wanting to treat her with a bit more compassion, yet all he gets in return is a mouth of abusive shouting. It's subjective I'm sure.

      brianna corrigan did not read this as a feminist song.
      i suppose i am saying that the beautiful south are not feminists so much as utter cynics, and that feminists follow cynics at their own peril.

    paul heaton wrote this song so how did he spoil it? he has always been the beautiful south without him there would be no beautiful south, paul heaton and dave rotheray are the housemartins and beautiful south, them two have wrote more songs than any other singer/song writer duos in history including lennon/mcartney
