      They are both great tbh. Modeler can handle more geometry and do instances. Medium is more polished, free and overall simpler to use.

      @@MechNuggets Would you say Modeler is more built for hardsurface? Or does it have capacity to do organic designs as well like Medium's tools to stretch/twist meshes, etc.

      yeah you absolutely can do organic sculpting very well in Modeler. Id even say they have more features than Medium for that@@wonderland4301

      @@TomCapan Theres a couple QoL features from Medium I wished were in Modeler like the angle snapping slider, lazy mouse slider and color picker hotkey.

    Thanks! You should do another tutorial for this app as well. I did you Medium tutorials which were the "make or break" for learning this process. I want to transition to MD with the same techniques but ran into several "show stoppers" and "gotchas" right out of the gate. If I could do in Medium what I learned from your tutorials in Md it would be Awesome. Thanks how you are supporting the new VR 3D Robo Modeling Community of Artist.

    Omg that array feature you used for the intake covers @34:00 was chefs kiss. Great to watch. A request in the future - in 1.8 they just come out with a smoothed camera view for recording. If your computer can handle it, give it a go!

    Does Md have Quest 3 passthrough? I’ve used it in Gravity Sketch and loved it. I could watch tv while sculpting :D

      I havent been able to make it work in Md. Maybe ask around on the Substance discord. I usually just watch a stream on a pinned window in VR

    literally drooling rn 🤤 Seeing you so comfortable in your workflow, it got ne wondering. If, let’s say, Adobe was to drop all support for Modeler and Medium would be gone too, what would you most likely turn to? Another sculpting tool, like 3DCoat, Zbrush etc or subD modelling like Maya, Max or Blender?

    amazing MechNuggets you made it look so easy. The only thing holding me back is VR. care to share what VR are you using? also is it possible to model just as fast and good in modeler without vr? Thanks

      Im using a Quest 3 at the moment. For me VR is the fastest way to work but you can do amazing things with other programs too. Its all a question of preference.

    ngl its funny to think about how the modeling nerds would likely die of anxiety if they saw the topology of this. Boolean workflow looks pretty fun. like hardops/boxcutter in blender.

      oh yea the geo is crazy lol. But for production, its way better for the 3D artist to have a concept like this rather than 3 drawings that dont match

      @@MechNuggets That's my goal using Modeler, it's a pretty good software to pitch out reference 3D models in top-right-front image planes, you can be sure they will match

    that array tech at 33:30 looks really handy! Can you also use custom primitives for sculpting like your kit, or is modeller still stuck with their own preselection?

      Yea you can also use custom brushes/stamps like in Medium. Altho for some reason they import at a different orientation.

    I want to know how you manage voxel resolution for rendering? Do you manage meshes with high poly and low poly to make texture? or just high poly mesh. your rendering is so clean!

      I render the high poly directly. For this one I exported from Modeler a decimated mesh at around 40-50 mil polys.

    Looks great! Are you still going to primarily stick with Medium? What headset are you using at the moment? (same for work and home or still different?)

      Iv been using Modeler more and more for professional work but Medium still has a place for sure. Cool thing is you can open Medium sculpts inside of Modeler. Im using a Quest 2 and Quest Pro. Havent tried the Quest 3 yet.

      @@MechNuggets oh right! How is the quest pro compared to quest 2? I'm wondering which is the best in terms of comfort and eye strain etc. I guess it comes down to both the straps/weight as well as resolution.

      @@electroAU I use the Quest 2 the most tbh. They both work fine, Quest Pro has better performance overall but I like that I can swap the batteries in the Quest 2 controllers instead of charging them on the base.

      Its been requested a couple of times. I would need to clean up the meshes so that they dont have any cavities in them. If I ever do ill post it on twitter and IG

    sorry if this is a stupid question, but is there a name for that workflow you use at the beginning where you have a solid block as a brush and you keep adding it to the mass? i thought maybe a "boolean workflow", but looking it up doesn't quite seem to get what i'm looking for. had to ask if maybe there's a name for it so i could try out that style of modeling too!

      Not too sure if there's a specific name for that. This is just a workflow I developed over the years working in VR. Voxel sculpting maybe?

      I havent upgraded yet im still on Quest 2 and Quest Pro. I might get it at some point but Im not in a huge rush

      @@MechNuggets I'm 3d modeler so I'm bit of curious to get the Quest 2 for work. I'm worried about eye strain. How long can you work directly in VR before your eyes get tired?

      default ones work well but I have installed mine as well. Whats cool with the default ones is that you can scale them non-uniformly

    Can I use my Occulus Quest 1 on my PC with my subscribtion on Adobe Substance ? If yes do you have a tutorial ? Because when I use my Quest 1 I have a error Message 205 and the software is in READ ONLY mod... I don't understand and no assistance on the forum.

      Cant really help you with technical support sorry. Quest 1 should be compatible, I just checked on their website. As long as you're working tethered to your pc and your pc meets minimum requirement you should be fine.

      @@MechNuggets Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate ! I search to resolve my problem with many reinstallation but this is the only suit of Substance who doesn't work correctly, I am used to it with the Adobe lol I think contact the support but very complicate too to have a quick support.

      It is a whole lot more intuitive dropping primitives in exact locations you want in vr and thus faster to build and boolean shapes.
