    Fellow Himi ride here.
    I absolutely loved this video series .
    Can I ask if you have a video or blog that details your equipment.
    Secondly, can I ask if when you fitted your chain you also needed to move the rear wheel forward as well.

    • @freewayproject
      @freewayproject  Год назад +2

      Thanks Paul stoked you like the series.
      I was thinking of doing a video of the equipment I used at the end of this series to show what I did use and what I took but didn't use and what I'll be taking on the next series. There are still 12 more episode left in this series.
      I had to adjust the chain a couple of time during the chains life as it had stretch (which is normal for chains) the chain had done about 14 000km when replaced. So these adjustment moved the rear wheel back a little each time. As I replaced with a new chain this meant moving the wheel forward basically back to the original position which is nearly all the way forward on the adjustment.

      Is there a support group of GoPro users to discuss the pain and anguish they cause 😂. I am still trying to work out how to strap a real camera to the helmet so I don't have to use action cameras ever again.
      If you keep out of most of the animals way you're normally good so you have to think you're in there house so be respectful. Well unless you're in the North where I grew up, then you really have to be alert once you are in croc country.

      😂😂
      I have another camera that I use for still video and photos. A Sony sve10 I believe is what it’s called but it’s no good for motion and to big to mount but great otherwise.
      I believe GoPro has us trapped in their world. But you would think as long as they’ve been around, they’d be better and last longer.
      Or at least less expensive.

  • @6ftS

    The osmo footage has a superior cinematic look. I am looking at those now and will most likely get one soon. I have a gopro 8 black and it is amazing, but the footage is hard to edit and doesnt have the deep rich film look that gives such a wonderful reproduction of the world. PS. Do you use magic bullet filters in post? What is your main dslr?

    • @freewayproject
      @freewayproject  6 месяцев назад

      I struggle with the GoPro's just keeping them going. No I don't use a filter in Post, I shoot in the flat colour profile to get as much dynamic range as possible (as action camera's aren't great to start with) then colour grade it to bring it back.
      I shoot everything else with a Sony A7SIII

      Hi Yoshimitsu, yes there is a setting for it. Through the app (I have the mini so I have to use the app) in the video button at the bottom ( below the preview) click it, then click Video at the top (there is an pen icon on the right which indicated edit), then scroll down to Sharpness (5th from the bottom) and set that to low. Hope that helps.

  • @CiaranWhelan
    @CiaranWhelan Год назад +1

    What camera would you rather use than the GoPro?

    • @freewayproject
      @freewayproject  Год назад +1

      For the helmet camera, there was a Sony camera like the Sony DSC-RX1R II, but I can't remember it's name, but it was $3500 and would be hard to mount.
      I have the DJI OSMO ACTION 3 now (there is a version 4 that has recently been released) functionality of the camera is great but it is still an action camera so the image isn't going to be that great. There is a new inta360 that has HDR filming which would be good riding into the direction of the sun, and its inbuilt de-warp would be good too. I find action cameras have to wider field of view.

    • @CiaranWhelan
      @CiaranWhelan Год назад +1

      What did you have on the helmet cam before switching to the GoPro?
      I'm in the deciding/investigating stages of getting back into riding after 20+ years of not riding and surfing. So I found your channel as I am also a photographer, adventure traveller and food lover (the scales tell "one at a time please").
      You have inspired me to look back into the Himalayan as I wrote it off the list to instead look at DR650 or XR650L. However, your videos have shown me otherwise of the Himalayan. Likely I would not go any harder on the bike than you have on your numerous trails.
      I'm in preference of being the solo nomad as well since I'm not in a hurry to go from A to B, but instead enjoy the journey and take it all in.
      I have seen a response from you in another episode that I felt was eluding that you may be changing bikes. I'm now intrigued.
      You've got my attention 😊

    • @freewayproject
      @freewayproject  Год назад

      @@CiaranWhelan I had the original Osmo Action, broke that (well cracked it when it was mounted below the motorbike so was no longer water proof, and then went into the ocean a few weeks later). In Tassie the only thing i could get was that GoPro, as soon as I could, I got the Osmo Action 3 which I still have.
      Awesome to see you getting back in to exploring.
      I hand been on the road for 15 years filming/photoshoots around the world, then the pandemic put a halt to that. As all the brands I worked with were oversea all the projects dried up (I did sneak in renovating a 130 year old house to fill in the time). I had ridden friends bike as a kid but being on the road all the time I never had my own. Then I started doing shoots with KTM in Canada, so finally got a KTM 6 days enduro to primarily get my bike handling skills up, so rode it when I could when I was back.
      With no projects, I decided to hit the road, with not a lot of cash, I did the research and the Himalayan fit the bill, I got a second hand one. Being solo I can't push it like I do on a dirt bike, so having anything more powerful would just be tempting fate. If you watch the Flingers Ranges episodes you'd see for exploring the bike is more than capable, and surprisingly can hill climb over really difficult terrain. in the Bungle Bungles, it dealt with river crossing and deep water crossing, it is basically a tractor. Yes there are better more capable bikes out there, but everyone gets caught up in the idea of needed the best thing possible where as they will never go close to the capability of the bike, so they waste money, where they could have use that to travel, or not have to work as much to free up time to explore.
      I'll be on this bike for a while, unless I win the lottery or someone gives me a bike.
