Not sure why so many on here crying about the price tag. The XT4 starts off at $35K in Luxury while the Premium Luxury and Sport trims start at $40K. It goes up to $57K if you check all the options on the box which very few people have no problem to purchase or lease at this price point. Before checking off all the boxes, you are getting sufficient amount of equipment and then some alongside with superb engineering, styling and etc with a modest price tag. It doesn't make sense for automakers to load these vehicle out if you have no intention ever using them. For example, I know some people hardly uses their sunroof in their cars. So putting fancy doodads and technology in cars that people will never use of the life of the vehicle does not make any financial sense to be added standard in the first place. Also, Cadillac is a name plate that sells by name just like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lexus and etc. but offers better and superb engineering than the bread-n-butter brands: Ford, Chevy, Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan and etc.
Super cruise would make this a solid consideration. Pricing seems a little steep for bringing business to the showroom. The xt4 needs to truly wow to entice consumers attention and I don't know if it qualifies. The other consideration that would knock the competition to it's knees is a standard extended warranty, everyone knows a BMW, Mercedes and even Volvo only last four years without massive repair cost and jawdropping depreciation. Adding an extended warranty on the power train would make resale exceptional and consumers would purchase vs lease. With all I mentioned, Cadillac would have a slam dunk in my opinion.
Great review. It indeed seems pricey feature-for-feature when loaded compared to certain respective competition. But it does have a great looking and compelling design. It’ll certainly stand out in a crowd. Btw, what’s the exterior color shown on that XT4?
Should have put the 3.0 twin turbo v6 in it!! More power better sound!! Its got s nine speed auto in it. I wonder if thsts the same gearbox jeep puts in the cherokee? That box has major shifting issues nothing but problems for Chrysler.
I like it compare to competitors like Infiniti qx30 Lexus ux BMW X1 benz gla I think more space extra hp and extra amenities make this vehicle on top plus no bullshit cvt transmission I like it might get next year
I gave up building/pricing this thing @ $55K BEFORE checking the box for a sunroof @ $1,795 or FWD/RVR auto braking @ $1,795 or active sports suspension @ $1,395. Over $60K for this? Good luck with that.

Hell no but that goes for any brand so that why I say keep the price comments. They are all too high! Still this one looks the part more than other in the segment. Very luxurious and stylish.

@@stevehammes Cant wait to spring then! looking forward to hear what you, and nicolete thinks about the car! :) Keep up the Great stuff! and greetings from Denmark :)
TestDriveNow Reviews by Auto Critic Steve Hammes you can get a nicely equipped 4 cylinder X3 for right at $50k...so I was going more by the price. If Cadillac is shooting at X1, GLA or Q3, only makes it look like even less value. And I forgot completely about Volvo XC40!
Ya honestly, I don't see any reason to buy this over the regular domestic crossovers like the Ford Edge, and whatever the Chevy Verison of this. Its a good looking car, but it just doesn't have the interior build quality, power, or features to justify it over a regular crossover.
Most of the magazine reviews of this have been pretty middling. It's significantly slower than most of it's competitors, and that price tag can get way out of control, though it will be interesting to see if this eventually comes with huge cash on the hood in traditional GM style. I do think it beats the very underbaked (what isn't from Lexus these days) UX, but is otherwise outmatched by EU rivals. At the very least, it's a relief to see that Cadillac can design at least a moderately attractive gauge cluster instead of the abominations in the rest of its cars, which look cheaper than the gauges you get in a base trim VW Jetta. It looks kind of cribbed from the B8 gen Audi A4, but if you're going to steal, steal from the best.
I bought one of these NEW XT4's in Dec 2018 and DUMPED it in Feb 2019. AWFUL experience with Cadillac. First thing to know about his car is, it has no GAS GAUGE NEEDLE.. I ran out of gas twice. There is a typical gas gauge dial, but instead of a needle there are really small lights... The are easy to miss. Plus, the vehicle has terrible range, small gas tank. Cadillac does everything they can to extend and divide most wanted options, so you have to buy all kinds of packages, just to get a few options that you really want. I liked the COOL looking LED lights on the back, tail lights, but if you want LED's on the front, you must order a SPECIAL PACKAGE or get the SPORT MODEL. I dont like the clear lenses in the rear of the Sport Model, but those are a MUST HAVE for sport. The back of the car, began to get uglier and uglier as I owned it longer. These aren't selling well. MY suggestion is if you really want one, wait a year or two and but used, for less than half price. Cadillac has AWFUL RESALE values... That another reason I got out of mine quick.
I've owned an xt4 for a year and a half and I still have it and I have not experienced any of the issues you are complaining about. If you ran out of gas twice because you where incapable of filling up the gas tank before gas indicator got to the last dot than that's a "YOU" problem don't blame that on cadillac. Terrible range?? I drive my xt4 17 miles every day to work and 17 miles to home and a full tank of gas last me almost 2 weeks. You sad the car got uglier the longer you had it??? WoW, Ok..lol
@@vizio6017 Admit, the gas gauge is difficult to read.. 'at a glance' while driving... also, it doesnt get very good gas milage, thus the range is very poor. Resale... You've lost 50% of your investment already. Have fun with that.
GM and Ford temporarily cut production at several North American plants due to chip shortage. GM and Ford temporarily extended downtimes at several plants in North America due to an ongoing semiconductor chip shortage impacting the global automotive industry. Compared to the Volvo, new Ford Edge ST or Acura RDX, this Caddy is far from being worth consideration. Its interior design is what you'd expect to find in a Oldsmobile (if they were still around).
IMO the Volvo XC40 is the only one i'd seriously struggle with not buying over this Cadillac. I'd have to drive them both multiple times back to back. The RDX is a nice improvement but it just isn't my cup of tea at all. The Edge ST just seems to be trying too hard for what it is. I found "sport" to work way better.
