      If it competes with an XC40 that means also with an X1 and NOT an X3. X3 is in the same segment as Q5, GLC and XC60! XC40 would be X1, Q3 and GLA. So which segment is it?

      They're optimized for the way most buyers will use them. What off-road capability is left is a fig leaf for the fact it's a $55k (with options) hatchback with extra height for easier accessibility.

    owned our luxury (base) level XT4 for 8 months now. We love it! Great power on highway and street, great blend between luxury and sport ride quality, and good size back seat and trunk. Down sides: the base model doesnt have seat memory (sucks with a short wife), the doors don't make a nice sound when they close (I think its the side mirrors rattling, that shouldnt happen in a luxury car). Other than that. I love my XT4 and highly recommend.

    • @nlpnt
      @nlpnt 6 лет назад +9

      Plastic cladding has to be black. It's there as a styling trick to disguise floor-to-ceiling height as ground clearance/ride height. Maybe it'd look better if it were gloss black or very dark metallic gray.

We also took the turbo version Mazda CX7 motor and tweaked it just a little, basically we added a larger turbo and exhaust and adjusted the valve timing.....that's it. It rides on malibu chassis. Really the only thing distinct is the body panels, lights and seating. We did this to save money. Oh yea and we even used the shytty radio out of a new, Ford Escape. I hope the 237hp is enough and doesn't feel too sluggish.
    It's all new from the ground up, just like my XC40. I'll test drive this when it comes out, but I'm guessing the Volvo will end up being better. Plus, it's about $10k less than the Caddy when both are fully loaded.

    I wish that there was a way to reach more of the public about Cadillac. My $70000 CTS was in the shop for repairs and recalls 24 times in 3 years. My neighbors Escalade was in the shop 53 times in 3 years. The company doen't care. Don't get me started on the new CT6 for $88000.

    Do NOT confuse this with Escalade in any way. Puny engine, belt line too high, Back end should be squared off for more room with a 2 piece tailgate. Envoy's and many other vehicles had switches to engaged 4wd when needed.
    An insult to my XLR V hood doing a comparison. Voice commands rarely work as expected.

    Pretty nice looking vehicle but that price tag is going to be tough. Opting out of AWD may save enough for the average consumer but many need AWD. However, no AWD means less weight and based on the powertrain will get good power-to-weight ratio similar to XC40. I would get the XT4 for power, size, decent fuel economy, and comfort for the price. The competition is really heating up. UX is coming into the picture soon too.

    A very nice looking smaller crossover. I seriously doubt they will sell many fully loaded 55k dollar versions. But, they will sell quite a few 45-47k dollar, nicely appointed versions. And, a great many base versions at 36k. In fact, this is likely my wife's next new vehicle. She currently has a late model SRX Luxury Edition and wants something smaller. XT4, you came out just at the right time for this guys wife.

    The competition should be X1/X2, GLA, Q3, and XC40. Having said that, the European ones are a half size smaller than these. Same goes for the XT5. It's a bit larger than X3, GLC, Q5, and XC60.

    The Fast Lane Car I Saw one of these on the road the other day. Caught my eye because of how different it looks. I didn't catch much coverage on the interior fit and finish from you. The commands you were using to control the temperature were probably not the right ones, which is why it didn't work. We'll see how it does in a crowded field. Lease payments on one will be interesting considering that they incentive the XT5. Most companies don' t like discounting a fresh brand new product, so it could cause some crossover payments.

    Everybody is complains about the cost but I feel like inflation has really taken off in the past few years. All new cars seem too expensive for the value proposition they are offering. I just don’t think people have seen the effect that low interest rates have had over the money supply the last few years. I think $50k cars are the new ~$40k cars.

    1st they put a 4 cylinder, then they ad AFM to switch to 2 cylinders on the highway? Might and well put power sliding floors so people can use their feet for power if they want to get the most mpg where ever they go. They need to bring back v8s back to mid size suvs
