  • It’s been a little while since Cadillac offered a car-based 3-row crossover in their lineup but the all-new XT6 is here to fill that vacancy. So, when the Escalade is more than you need Caddy now has another head-turning SUV with a more palatable price tag.
    MSRP as-tested: $73,040

    Steve, this was a great overview! I gotta say, the look of this is growing on me, but that price is laughable. Just another Cadillac overpriced by 20%. Look what Hyundai and Kia are doing for 30k less!!

      bassandtrebleclef I don’t know why people make these ridiculous comparisons. It doesn’t make a lick of sense to compare the value propositions of Hyundai/KIA to the luxury brand _Cadillac._ That’s like comparing a $50,000 Chevrolet SS to a $65,000 Genesis G70 with the caption “Look what Chevy is doing for $15,000 less.” Hyundai couldn’t charge as much as Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Range Rover, etc. for anything even if they wanted to because no one would buy it. They’re a bang for buck brand, the cheap alternative brand. Not a “we do it better or the only to offer this so we charge a premium” brand.

    Spruce up the interior, drop the 3.0TT V6 and tou have a winner. I agree, that 3.6 V6 is overused by GM. I see too much GM bean counters influence here. GM needs to give Cadillac more free reign to be successful, otherwise, it'll continue to be a Chevy with lipstick.

  • @Tully3674
    @Tully3674 5 лет назад +9

    The elephant in the room is the Lincoln Aviator. The mouse is the Cadillac XT6. Can't think of solid reasons why to choose the Caddy over the Lincoln. In addition, the Lincoln has exterior & interior lines that will age better then the Caddy.

    • @mybro727
      @mybro727 4 года назад +6

      Tully3674 That’s a lie. The Cadillac has the more cohesive design and will definitely age better. Several reasons to choose a XT6 over a Aviator. The Lincoln is already having issues, has already been recalled and the Cadillac has not. The Lincoln doesn’t offer a more reliable naturally aspirated engine option, the Cadillac does. Lincoln does not offer night vision, rear view camera mirror technology, nor an autonomous driving technology (SuperCruise), the Cadillac does. The Lincoln is also $92,000 at top trim fully loaded despite the fact it lacks the features and equipment i just listed. The Cadillac XT6 Sport with Platinum package is nearly $20,000 less. I could go on.
      I think there are plenty of solid reasons that people will choose the Cadillac over the Aviator. Looks are subjective, but the Aviator’s front end looks funny to me. The Navigator’s front end just looks more cohesive than that of the Aviator. Idk if it’s too small or what. Cadillac knocked the design of the XT6 out of the park imo.

      I own a Sorento SX-L, as well. And I could have purchased a $32K+ vehicle to go along with it for the Caddy's MSRP. In fact, I did, a GTI. But that misses the point of purchasing a Caddy. @@mybro727 Two things:
      1. Just because it's a Cadillac, doesn't mean that it's well-built. Remember that Cadillac is under GM and that they share many parts/platforms, etc. Too, several reviewers have been complaining about the fit and finish of this vehicle in particular: that's not a sign off a well-built vehicle. Yes, quality is subjective, but you should expect certain boxes to be automatically checked at this price point.
      2. I've owned one of the newer generation Kia's (Sportage) for about 9 years now. You can say a lot about my car, but you can't say that it is not well-built or that it is cheaply made. The for and finish is great and it does much of what other, more expensive vehicles do, but for a better value.
      Not apples and oranges; just a little research coupled with experience.
