After a rather mixed experience with the economy class on Garuda Indonesia Boeing 737-800, I tried the business class on the A330-200 on the Singapore-Jakarta route. Even after adjusting my expectations, I was very impressed with the service on this flight. It seems Garuda put a lot of effort to make sure that the business class experience, especially on their widebody aircraft on the international route. Have you been flying on GA international business class lately? Please share your thoughts on this flight. Sadly I experienced a complete backward service from my last flight to and from Sydney with GA Business Class on January. Firstly on my flight from SYD to CGK the cabin crew was lack of attention and forgot to take my meal order, then I needed to call them multiple times just to get my order right. Secondly on my flight from CGK to SYD I was hoping to get a better experience, but otherwise I would say I got the most unpleasant service during the flight. Cabin crew was again 'lack' of attention, I could see from their facial expression that they were a little exhausted and did not really put much effort on the service, no drink services were offered to me and AGAIN I was the one who initiatively asked them for drinks ( it was a midnight flight and I completely understand their tiredness ). Next, what made me think of the unprofessionalism performance from the crew was they asked me what options would I get for breakfast and they didn't even know that I had ordered a special meal online! Phew, didn't really expect this kind of service whilst I paid extra to get an adequate service haha :) Nonetheless, great flight review!!
Nico larson sorry to hear about your experience on GA flight. Can totally understand as I sometimes feel very inconsistent service level on the same route (I fly SIN - CGK at least 10x / year on GA)
I was impressed with this business class effort from Garuda , especially considering that it is a relatively short flight. I`ve yet to fly with Garuda, but I thought both the catering and cabin crew were great on this flight.

Nice review mate! The IFE look very outdated though. I don't think they are on par with Singapore Airlines, but considering the nice and friendly cabin crew you had, it might be worth it. But i suppose they should upgrade the chinaware on business class regional international flights.

However, I actually quite liked the meal on this flight, in my opinion this was at least on par with what typically served by SQ on this route. Also the vintage champagne is quite a nice touch, while SQ is serving non vintage even on Long haul flight.. the cabin crew did great job on this flight.

Great Flight Review mas, Garuda Indonesia bisa bersaing dengan maskapai lain di bagian awak kabinnya. Awak kabin Garuda sangat mengayomi penumpang. Namun untuk service, memang masih banyak yang harus diperhatikan oleh Garuda Indonesia.
This aircraft was formerly operated by Hainan Airlines and joined GA fleet probably around 2009. That's why there's no Indonesian language on the IFE and the seats are of older type.
Such an impressive and interesting trip report. GA is the airline that I always want to have a chance to fly on. The interior and the seat seems pretty nice, but the IFE system looks quite outdated compared to the age of the plane. The meal is surely a highlight of this flight 😄👍
