Thank you so much for this incredible video-it’s truly a revelation! I’m a professional photographer and have been using drones for years (mainly for photography and photogrammetry), but I never imagined that long exposure photography was possible with a drone. This is an absolute game-changer, opening up so many new creative possibilities for me! Also, you’ve convinced me to order the Air 3s-thank you for the inspiration!
Can select all images and pull them into Photoshop to create a time-lapse video. Haven't done it in 10 years so I can't remember the step by step but it's very easy. I remember you have to click a check mark indicating that it is a sequence of images....10-15 years ago
the make i use is called drone strobe very effective also has three colour choice white/green and red keeps you within night flight regulations stay safe.
Very interesting and helpful video - thanks. I have just bought the Air 3S, my use case is mainly photography. Question: what is the maximum wind speed the Air 3S can cope with and still get good long exposure photos? Or put another way, what was the wind speed when you took the night photos that you shared? I am assuming the split ND filters work for both lenses? You suggested ND16 for an 8 second exposure with the 28mm lens, so I assume the (split) ND8 filter for the 70mm lens works ok as well for an 8 second cityscape exposure?
@@stephjant6461 the wind speeds varied quite a bit but in my demonstrated cases where quite low wind. That being said the London ones where had about 8-10mph wind. Obviously the 24mm shots will still work in windier conditions than 70mm. It’s very windy here today so if rain stops tonight I’ll try and take some test shots and let you know. The split ND filters do match the two lenses quite well so you should find ND16 to give roughly the right exposure time for 70 and 24mm without having to crank up the iso too much.
@@stephjant6461 I have done some tests today and even at 22mph wind it’s possible to capture 8sec exposures with the 24mm and 70mm cameras although the attrition rate is no longer 100% but probably closer to 20-30% - which is still incredible! I’ll post examples on the community page of my channel to show this. You can also clearly see in it that the stacking is made from 8x 1second images for 8 second simulated exposures.
Really interesting, so given the air3s is taking 2 second exposures and stacking that's a very different proposition to truely longer exposure with the mavic 3 which is harder to achieve re stability and precision, so no surprise there really knowing that but good to see some side by side tests. Personally I won't be going with an air 3s sticking with my mavic 3 as want the full sensor resolution, variable aperture and best quality images and video, but will be interesting to see what the mavic 4 has (and given some leaks already)..
@@achristofides yes if you want the best possible quality the Mavic 3 pro is still the one to go for anyway. The air3s just makes its much easier and more effortless but at the expense of a bit of quality. Definitely excited about the upcoming Mavic 4 too… looks like it’s going to be a bit of a beast!
Hey, can you make Dji neo vs Dji mini 3 pro comparison next please? i am willing to buy any one of those this week. I rely on: camera quality battery weight (must be below 250) range. you can also answer me in reply too!
@@kitiTaxiSim2 hey I can already give you the answer - the Mini3pro or mini4pro will be the best drone if you’re after camera quality, flight time, range and sub 250g. The Neo would be your choice if you’re after a quick selfie drone or you want to also dabble with FPV. I may be doing a Neo review soon in which I’ll cover the arguments for the Neo
@@odinata I don’t really use topaz much - adobe PS and Lightroom noise reduction is already very good. Then again with long exposures this isn’t needed as the low iso results in extremely low noise.
@@karlpiet it all comes down to wanting to capture light streaks (if that’s the goal). For this you want exposure times of 3-8seconds really and at f1.8 the air 3s will simply let too much light in even at night. On the Mavic 3pro filters aren’t needed as you can close the aperture sufficiently to restrict light. If you’re simply after night shots without light streaks or motion blur then yes - no filters are the better choice 🙂
This is whole other part of night photography you’ll have to learn about. This video thus quite informative it mostly hits an audience who are doing hyperlapses quite often.
So its not really 8 seconds if it is simulated, so the comparison is a bit skewed, especially given that side by side you said the Mavic 3 pro nails it, you can see all the digital artefacts on the quad bayer sensor, turns all the stuff to mush. but I totally see the comparison, the air 3s makes this possible and easier for the average flier at a better price point, and for social media nobody would even notice which drone it was taken with without model names. This video was still very informative, although another tip to see if your drone is moving is to tap on the bottom left corner on the map, all drones have gyroscopes as part of their IMU and you can see this movement in real time down on the bottom left, you just have to toggle between map the radar view. It will show the direction of travel, the compass heading, the home point, and the blue line is the drones gyroscopic positioning it will show how much the drone is being moved left and right in real time. I have skipped on the Air 3S purely because I love my Mavic 3 Pro and its functions, the fact that it still holds its own is still impressive and the Mavic 4 is shaping up to be a tank, as long as they keep quad bayer sensors for the cheaper drones.
@@jasonlee4267 you’ve summarised that very well and yes, the air3s does one heck of a lot of processing on images. It’s yet again a bit like comparing a mirrorless camera to a new iPhone. The the face of it the iPhone can take better shots than the mirrorless but once you have a proper close look at the details, it’s clear there’s no comparison and the mirrorless is better. The air3s is great for producing good pictures out of the box. I also like your tip about the gyro data 👍
Too funny when you first showed the 8 second exposures I wondered if the 3s was stacking multiple pictures together... Finally copying cell phones... And Olympus micro 4/3 cameras.
@@EricGlenSnyder yes it was only after I did an initial attrition test and seeing how reliable it is at taking exposure, that I checked the specs to see if it was cheating 😜😂
@dronewilder5234 yep, good thinking!!! I like how you pointed out though that the mavic 3 pro does better when it manages to avoid moving / blurring. Probably the mavic 3 classic is still the way to go for best bang for the buck.

Thank you. I am searching for a Air3s. I don't use premier but use Wondershare. Currently it's crashing but I upgraded my machine and thinking my 3060 might not be compatible with my older mb and processor. Thinking of getting a ryzen 7 9600. Would like the hotter chip but it's sold out Everywhere
